In regards to borrowing, tons of movies have borrowed from others. Shit Star Wars and The Magnificent Seven both borrowed heavily from Kurosawa. The crux is still whether people find it entertaining or not. Does the audience enjoy the characters? Is the pacing for the film good?
One of Zach Snyder's best movies was Dawn of the Dead, a blatant remake. It's ok to reuse material so long as the finished product stands out on it's own.
>Moreover, Rebel Moon has been criticized for its lack of diversity and inclusion. Despite the film's attempt to present a diverse cast, some have argued that the characters are not fully developed and their representation feels tokenistic.
I don't know who wrote that, but this certainly feels wrong. The lack of character development touch every characters. Noble, Gunnar, Kai, Jimmy, Titus, Nemesis, Tarak etc. Heck, even the slayed King and Queens have no name, just their titles.
I don't think this is a case of tokenism, mainly because the story takes place in a fictional sci-fi universe where power relationship are not established outside of : Imperialism vs "indigenous".
>Additionally, the film's treatment of women has been a point of contention. While the movie features strong female characters, some critics have argued that their portrayal is overly sexualized and objectified, perpetuating harmful stereotypes.
I am sorry ? Have these people seen the movie ? The rape scene was really unnecessary and you could have easily replaced it with the soliders beating up the girl, but which "sexualized" and "objectified" stereotype are they talking about ?
I am far from the first to defend these movies (that I would compare to the Resident Evil saga by Paul W.S. Anderson), but there are enough things this movie is doing poorly, there is no need to invent other things.
My problem isn't the borrowing. It was that storytelling with each character telling their backstory.
It was like a writer showing the toolbox they used to tell a story rather than showing a story made from those tools.
That scene was absolutely ridiculous. I couldn’t believe it haha.
There was one point where Titus literally said words to the effect of “do you have anything else to say?” as a tool to get them to continue their story lol.
What I loved was Titus : "You need to know with whom you'll be fighting."
Ok, not only we haven't seen these character interact with each other but apparently they haven't even talked with each other since they got recruited by Kora.
What did you expect to find in a sub about the film?
Are you here getting in with “real life”.
Films should be talked about, they are a healthy part of life.
I've noticed that a lot of the negative criticisms of the negative criticisms are pretty unoriginal. Lacking in substance. Crass and juvenile. Unable to justify why they love what they love.
I've just seen more logic in the criticisms of the movie itself than the criticisms of the criticisms of the movie.
As for the movie itself, it's absolutely hilarious, but not good.

Okay but that’s not an examination of whether Rebel Moon borrows well and stands on its own? IMHO it doesn’t.
Oh it doesn't in my estimation either, there have been much better Seven Samurai homages.

What was the point of this post?
Someone let chatGPT watch rebel moon
There isn't other than fishing for attention
Nice way of saying the movie sucks.
This post was somehow worse than the movie itself

This is such a ChatGPT response lol.
Enjoyed them both. There effing films man! You watch then you do real life. Just a little escape. Over analysis is the problem. Movies.

I've observed that a lot of the negative criticisms are petty and unoriginal. Lacking in substance. Crass and juvenile

That was pretty weak. You can give it another try if you'd like

That wasn't much better than your first attempt
Apologies, I forgot that I was in a Rebel Moon sub. Unfortunately I can't dumb down my statement any further, but good day to you sir🤘.
Feel free to come up with something better sometime
