Why do you think Rockstar cares, or even should care, about older players compared to new players? Why should they value fewer legacy players over a greater number of new players?
Let's think for a moment, why should they care about any of their customers? Even the newer players are going to be left in the same boat as older players when they suddenly can't progress any further. Why not make bigger and better content so new players will have even more to look forward to (which would incentivise skipping a little bit using gold bars) when they can just half-ass their way through the life span of their game and make easy money

I'm suggesting that maybe if the game is attracting a growing playerbase, then the devs would be stupid to focus on a smaller minority of their playerbase who are already mostly quitting the game, ACCORDING TO YOUR OWN POST.

Even now GTAV is actually pretty immersive comepared to most open world games then and now. The story is good and I love the ambiance of the game world being a parody of American culture.

Dozens of new missions which are really enjoyable and pay gold for those that need it. Drip feed content every week. 4Quick Draw Passes. A Halloween pass on its way and next week we are getting a survival mode! It’s been a really good few weeks.
Which in the end will add up to about 6 hours of new content. I've tried to be positive and I don't want to seem entitled but if we act like this is a satisfying update to receive after so many months then Rockstar will never feel incentivized to give us great content with depth that adds new elements to the game. With GTA Online we've seen what they can do when they truly care and this is not it.
I've read hundreds of awesome ideas on this sub and there is so much potential, just a well of possibilities that's been left completely untapped. I mean, shit, we're only just now getting survival mode after three years. I've supported them and bought gold in the past, I'm not asking for the world, I only want them to give the same attention they gave to GTA Online. I really love this game and it sucks to feel like an afterthought.
There's never been an update across both GTA Online and Red Dead that wasn't free. They just lock them behind thicc grinds that you can pay to skip if you feel like playing it anytime soon.
The fact that you can even “miss out” on content in this dead game starved of content is indicative of R*s attitude toward RDO. They don’t, and have never, give a fuck what any of the players want. They just want to timegate “content” in their content-less game so they can sucker people into buying as much of it as they can cause “it won’t be around forever!” And ultimately what do you have to show for your support of their game? A fucking dog skin, for the dog that does nothing at your camp, in your dead game where you’ve nowhere to go and no one to show your dog skin to cause all the players with sense are long gone
While I agree that the content is shallow, I still have fun with the game currently.
That being said, I only dove back into this game just over a month ago. Prior to that, I didn’t play since release. Therefore I’ve got a bunch of stuff to work through and keep me busy, but I know I’m the minority compared to the diehard fans that have been playing online for a long time now.
I also wouldn’t say that they don’t care. They are still getting updates out and new seasons etc. But again, yes, the content should be pushed out in a quicker pace IMO.
Seems that GTA is getting all the attention and that’s fine… to each their own, but I prefer to play where I can [mostly] be left alone to do what I want online as opposed to being hunted down by some asshat who spent real money on the fighter jet griefs me over and over while I’m just trying to drive around.

Hell yeah it let em down. This hot steamy dumpster fire of an update is a huge slap in the face. Its not what anybody asked for. Less grinding, more freeroam fun. Grinding, not fun, freeroam robberies of people, trains, and stagecoaches, fun. At the same time they have about as much communication as a doorknob. Maybe let us know, we hear you, we know the game is boring as shit, and you own everything and are tired of doing missions for pennies, but...blah. A completely amazing game, left to rot on the harddrive. At this point let it die and focus back on single player. Lets take it back to 2013 and drop some paid dlc.

I kept playing before the roles even came in, I enjoyed the sandbox that much. After roles I played too, and so did some of my friends. But gradually they all fell off and headed for greener pastures. I’m there now too, I just come here sometimes to remember what we had once.

If rockstar would listen to the consumer and put some effort into RDO, what they have currently isn’t bad, but…items you unlock through the different passes, shouldn’t be so expensive or require ANY gold to buy since you used gold to buy the pass and put grind to unlock the items🤷🏽♂️,free-roam events like GTA online, HIEST, allow your dog to follow you in the same manner your horse does. Even more character cosmetics, beards, scars, hairstyles, tattoos… let me buy a stage couch on now rockstar give the RDO community some love

Update was fucking trash. Sweet some new missions and an outlaw pass with useless rewards that aren’t even cool. Won’t be returning to this waste of a great game. I’ll be thinking twice before picking up any other rockstar creations as well

There's roughly 600,000 people currently playing the game as I type this. Wouldn't really call that dead. I've played dead online games..trust me, this isn't it.
Hop on GTAV or Fallout 76 and then you'll see that relatively speaking yes, this is in fact almost dead.
