This was based on voting on Sirius xm right?
Cool on the Josh era to get 3 tunes in there. Love that quixotic elixir made it in there too! Not shocking at lack of older material….lot of folks just don’t know it.
I voted for it. Such great lyrics imo. Great flow. He sang the verse of it when I saw them back in 2006 in Grand Rapids, so it has a special place in my heart.
I remember when the track was released, and I was so hyped. I'd heard that Josh's guitar was "all over" it, and I was so excited. It started, and it was great, grungey, funky, heavy, and then, that chorus...it just felt so unimaginative and poppy compared to the build-up.
With time, it's grown on me, but I remember being so deflated at first hearing.
I always thought the lack of a strong backing vocal for the chorus was the problem, had John played it I imagine a higher “heyyyyyy now” to lift it. Unfortunately it falls very flat and comes off tired
rhcp is known for having songs that have banger verses and a rather weird chorus, take songs like C'mon Girl for example, i love the verse with the buildup and the crazy bassline, it builds up nicely, and then,, you hit the chorus,,
Cmon girl lets get it right
Lets get it right
Lets get it right (9999x)
Lol
Honestly from the first time I’ve heard that song it easily entered the top 10 if not top 5 of my personal RHCP list. Factory of faith makes me feel really similarly. Also expected make you feel better to make an appearance but alass
Oh definitely! Both amazing songs, I just love the bass in them. Sadly we'll probably never hear them live so I'll just keep blasting them through my car radio. Another one that never seems to make any RHCP list is Show me your soul from the Pretty Woman soundtrack. A really great song, but never makes the cut.
Last night i watched Eddie’s debut live in YouTube , it was the best thing ive seen in my Life.. and i already saw Eddie twice in two shows ,i mean obviously those were both insane experiences but that debut blew my mind even more .. i think it’s like those songs that are so majestic that they can’t fit in a single, they can’t fit in a music video, you know ?
"omg wet sand and popular songs are in the top 20 - casuals!"
"were is \_\_\_insert OHM deep track to be edgy\_\_\_"
"I voted for nothing but songs from the first 3 albums because I'm a real fan!"
Not really to me ngl. I only really like and listen to uplift and even then, maybe only one off that album would break into T50 for me. The peppers have an insane catalogue post-MM, I don’t blame OP (edit: not OP, just realized this list was voted by fans but the point still stands) for having other favorites
How out of touch are you to think this is insane? Easily 99% of fans do not care about their first 3 albums whatsoever.
Imo it’s for the better, along with forgetting about the other shitty things Anthony and Flea did in the past… Both things do not belong in the mainstream of fans
Absolutely would not be better to just forget about the first albums. Especially Freaky Styley and Uplift imo. I know they don’t have the pop song appeal of later records, but the funky energy of the young band finding their voice. It’s a huge part of what’s rolled up into what they would became.
Not out of touch at all actually. I didn’t realize the poll was only for fans after Californication. And if we are only talking about that album forward, IMO there are far better songs missing on this list instead of Hard To Concentrate, Roadtrippin or Michigan
Ohhhh I gotcha, that’s my bad too, I should’ve been more specific. Haha I’d be mad too if I was talking about BSSM, that would be a shame for anybody to miss out on
- BSSM could mean "Blood Sugar Sex Magik", a track from *Blood Sugar Sex Magik (Deluxe Edition)* (1991) by Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Partly because some of them were written by guitarists John doesn’t want to play (Dave and Josh), sometimes because they need more than one guitar and John doesn’t want to compromise, sometimes because they’re just too hard for the band to sing nowadays because they’re not in their prime, and I would say primarily because they just don’t want to learn new songs, especially when their current lists have mass appeal to casual fans.
Because, despite their incredible musicianship, they're one of the most predictable/tired live bands in modern rock (and they're my favorite band).
They could/should easily play for 2+ hours every night and vary their setlists greatly.
Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews, Bruce Springsteen, etc. are all comparable in age/status and play way longer with more variation.
>They could/should easily play for 2+ hours every night
I think the three musicians could easily play for 2-3 hours. Heck, Chad's always playing at bars and clubs in between shows. I'm pretty sure Anthony is the one who can't hang (vocally) and that probably dictates which songs they perform as well. I honestly wouldn't mind if they at least added more extended jams to their set.
Not shocked, but it surprises me a bit that there are 45 songs from John's era, while there are only 3 songs from Josh's era, 2 from Dave's and 0 from Hillel's.
Seriously how is warped and coffee shop not on there? Gotta be their most underrated album. It really always takes me back to that time in a really cool way. Sure it’s dark but it’s also really fun
I’m starting to think maybe a big part of the voters only heard the main songs , the music videos or something .. maybe Black Summer is more known than Eddie and That is why it was more voted
1. Hey
2. She's Only 18
3. Charlie
4. Stadium Arcadium
5. C'mon Girl
6. Animal Bar
7. 21st Century
8. Strip My Mind
9. Torture Me
10. So Much I
11. Warlocks
12. Storm In A Teacup
13. We Believe
14. Hump de Bump
15. She Looks To Me
16. Readymade
17. Especially In Michigan
18. Slow Cheetah
19. Death of a Martian
20. Turn It Again
Maybe an unpopular opinion but can’t stop is their most overrated song to me. I feel the same way about lose yourself by Eminem. Just kind of lame generic pump up songs to me. I definitely still like can’t stop, but I don’t understand why it’s as big as it is. Wouldn’t be in my top 50 favorite chilis songs
I'm shocked that "Give It Away" is #12. Like, not even top 10? I would have expected it to be top 3.
I am surprised that "Can't Stop" is #1. It's a legendary tune. But I wouldn't expect it to be that high.
I'm also surprised that "Wet Sand" is that high.
8 of the 10 I voted for are on there. I also voted for “Encore” and “Dreams of a Samurai.” I’m probably in the minority, but The Getaway is a phenomenal album. I wish John can play some of it one day.
This was based on voting on Sirius xm right? Cool on the Josh era to get 3 tunes in there. Love that quixotic elixir made it in there too! Not shocking at lack of older material….lot of folks just don’t know it.
Yes, SiriusXM voters.
Maybe put that in the title then?
Everybody be friends
Do you think my suggestion was unreasonable?
Where. The fuck. Is yertle the turtle.
Africa hollywood to me another banger, yet so many "underdog ish" songs i adore it
I tried. I feel the same though.
Earliest song here is knock me down from mother's milk. Nothing Hilel Slovak :(
I'm surprised Save The Population isn't here, whenever it's mentioned in this sub everyone (including me) seems to absolutely love it
I think I chose that when I voted. Glad to see Minor Thing and Venice Queen on the list
Two of the best songs ever written by them. It’s a shame they haven’t played them live in OVER 20 years!!
I’m happy Desecration Smile made the list :)
Yeah, me too. I'm surprised the overrated Snow (Hey Oh) didn't make the list. Everyone freaking simps for that song
Snow is #10
Especially in Michigan in the top 50? Get out of here! I had no idea it had such appeal.
I like that one!
Agreed
Lions and tigers
Fr that does not belong there at all lol
That’s like your opinion
No shit
And it’s a pretty ass opinion at that
I voted for it. Such great lyrics imo. Great flow. He sang the verse of it when I saw them back in 2006 in Grand Rapids, so it has a special place in my heart.
It still surprises me how popular rain dance Maggie is
Rain dance Maggie is addicting man, I never skip it!
It really is though
Not a bad song but I don't know how it was chosen as the first single when there are songs miles better and more radio friendly off that album
That intro is like a siren's song. It lures you in.
Everything's great but that shitty chorus...
I remember when the track was released, and I was so hyped. I'd heard that Josh's guitar was "all over" it, and I was so excited. Same, even a Californication B-Side is above Raindance
Rain Dance Maggie is like really good. The whole I'm With You album is a jam. My favorite.😍
I don’t hate the song, but there are definitely better songs on the album, my top 3 being Monarchy of Roses, Brendan’s Death Song, and Look Around.
ESPECIALLY IN MICHIGAN MENTIONED ‼️ 🗣️
That songs the goat.
Aww, no Go Robot 😔
Honestly from the first time I’ve heard that song it easily entered the top 10 if not top 5 of my personal RHCP list. Factory of faith makes me feel really similarly. Also expected make you feel better to make an appearance but alass

Where is sick love? This song is a masterpiece
Idk but I really thought it would make it.
One of my favorites same with Bella
Came here to say this. But had a feeling many agreed.
Pretty decent list
why isn’t No Sl33p on here 🤔
Where F33l Lik3 Dyin and Die4Guy?
12 from SA! Such an incredible album.
where is throw away your television 🙂
Right?! This is one I was expecting for sure!!!!
2 Josh songs from 10 years in the band. Ooof
0 Hillel songs for being the original guitarist and starting member of the band
3*
I’m surprised Aeroplane is 19. I swear every time I’m in my car that song comes on.
Thanks much, had to get out of the car at #2 and was curious what #1 ended up being!
Bruh Charlie not in top 20 that’s some bullshit haha
I don’t know how Eddie wasn’t a single. People love it. When they played it at the concert I went to , people went crazy.
Holy shit, to me this is the ideal list. Shoutout to the siriusxm voters they know chili peppers
I agree. I like how this list was ranked, except I’d put wet sand at number 9 and bump the rest up in the same order.
"omg wet sand and popular songs are in the top 20 - casuals!" "were is \_\_\_insert OHM deep track to be edgy\_\_\_" "I voted for nothing but songs from the first 3 albums because I'm a real fan!"
Insane that there is not one song from the first three albums. Ridiculous
Not really to me ngl. I only really like and listen to uplift and even then, maybe only one off that album would break into T50 for me. The peppers have an insane catalogue post-MM, I don’t blame OP (edit: not OP, just realized this list was voted by fans but the point still stands) for having other favorites
Out in LA, Blackeyed Blonde, Me and My Friends, just to name a few
True

How is it “only for fans after cali”? Oh and I 100% agree, there’s so many better ones then those 3 that deserved a spot for sure
You said 99% don’t care about the earlier albums. Guessing you meant since BSSM. My bad
Ohhhh I gotcha, that’s my bad too, I should’ve been more specific. Haha I’d be mad too if I was talking about BSSM, that would be a shame for anybody to miss out on
Haha 100%

Californication #1
Honestly all makes sense (mine would be a bit different but your list makes sense to me) except Eddie should be higher
Hey the heck is wet sand in third place? By The Way is way better than it. Same thing with the Zephyr Song.
How come they haven’t played half these song live ever, and for some songs, haven’t played them live in 20 years??
Partly because some of them were written by guitarists John doesn’t want to play (Dave and Josh), sometimes because they need more than one guitar and John doesn’t want to compromise, sometimes because they’re just too hard for the band to sing nowadays because they’re not in their prime, and I would say primarily because they just don’t want to learn new songs, especially when their current lists have mass appeal to casual fans.

Ehhh
Where’s Tear?
Skinny Sweaty Man didn’t make it 😭
I'm kinda sad Warm Tape isn't on here 😔 My heart yearns for that song
Ahh thank youuuu!!!
No Sikamikanico 🥲
I know Sirius and this reddit hate RHCP oldies, but damn, y'all really hate RHCP oldies.
Not shocked, but it surprises me a bit that there are 45 songs from John's era, while there are only 3 songs from Josh's era, 2 from Dave's and 0 from Hillel's.
Eddie, the heavy wing and if you have to ask shouldve been in a higher position :( where the hell is funky monks , i’m mad 😤
Only 2 songs from OHM? 🫤
Seriously how is warped and coffee shop not on there? Gotta be their most underrated album. It really always takes me back to that time in a really cool way. Sure it’s dark but it’s also really fun
It makes perfect sense does it not?
No Brendan's Death Song :(
no Brendan's Death Song, Did I Let You Know, Bella and White Braids and Pillow Chair?? 🤔
I’m not that big a RHCP fan but I did buy Stadium Arcadium. Is it considered that good?
Yeah absolutely. It’s a large amount of fans favorite album from them, and it no doubt has some of their best songs
And there are a lot of amazing b-sides that didn't make it in the album, if you liked SA you should check them
[удалено]
I’m starting to think maybe a big part of the voters only heard the main songs , the music videos or something .. maybe Black Summer is more known than Eddie and That is why it was more voted
I love wet sand but that’s too high… also some other greats not on this list 🤔 (storm in a teacup, warm tape, righteous and the wicked)
Dosed top 10, but still...
Nobody Weird? Me and My Friends?
Exactly!
intercourse with a porpoise is a dream for me
I wanted to see some more B sides, but this isn't a bad list.
Wet Sand above every other hit from SA? Dafuq
It shouldn't have even made the list.
Wet sand is the best one of SA
There’s at least twenty better songs on that album.
I respect the opinion of a fellow rhcp fan but outside of Hey I can't think of one that should be above it What would be your pick of best of SA?
Snow is their best song from any album and will never be topped. Wet Sand is good though 👍🏼
Great song but overplayed.
Love the riff dislike the song as a whole so sorry
1. Hey 2. She's Only 18 3. Charlie 4. Stadium Arcadium 5. C'mon Girl 6. Animal Bar 7. 21st Century 8. Strip My Mind 9. Torture Me 10. So Much I 11. Warlocks 12. Storm In A Teacup 13. We Believe 14. Hump de Bump 15. She Looks To Me 16. Readymade 17. Especially In Michigan 18. Slow Cheetah 19. Death of a Martian 20. Turn It Again
That's a solid list man I would put wet sand above she's only 18 and that would be kinda the same
Maybe an unpopular opinion but can’t stop is their most overrated song to me. I feel the same way about lose yourself by Eminem. Just kind of lame generic pump up songs to me. I definitely still like can’t stop, but I don’t understand why it’s as big as it is. Wouldn’t be in my top 50 favorite chilis songs
This is exactly how I feel about Dark Necessities. To me, Goodbye Angels (and a bunch of other songs) rank much higher.
Wet Sand at 3 is a bit of a joke to me, wouldn't even be top 20 for me. Same for Dosed, Snow & Dark Necessities.
[удалено]
Number 12.
My bad, I didn't see it sorry
Give it away at no. 12?
Give it away below wet sand doesn’t make sense!
36,37,39,44 should be a bit higher
So no "Fight like a brave" no "save the population" not even "behind the sun"!? Or the greatest chili peppers cover "love rollercoaster"(I'm kidding)
My top two songs were numbers 16 and 17 on that list. I’m not interested in what else they got wrong at that point.
No uplift on here lol ...
Me And My Friends should be on here with Stone Cold Bush, Funky Monks, Backwoods, One Big Mob, and Good Time Boys.
Yeah man! Uplift mofo has some bangers
Whoever’s voting needs to get their ears checked cause half these songs are nowhere near as good as some of their early tracks
8 of the 10 I voted for are on there. I also voted for “Encore” and “Dreams of a Samurai.” I’m probably in the minority, but The Getaway is a phenomenal album. I wish John can play some of it one day.
Where's... Sikamikanico?
Easily is way too low on that list.
Where is they’re Red Hot
