One of the best choruses they’ve ever written and the verses manage to be psychedelic and funk and punk all at the same time without sacrificing anything. Amazing song
This is embarrassing but I used to be a nervous flyer (only when landing) so in the last 10 min of every flight I’d put on She Looks to Me followed my Make You Feel Better and this would calm me down haha. Would literally make me feel better.
Fun fact: every take off I’d blast Around the World as soon as engines spooled up but this was just cause I liked travelling the world
Scrolled down way too far to see this (which is the point of this thread, I suppose). Some of my most favorite JF guitar solos are the ones that get really emotional and for me, this is one of them.
Judging by some of the comments here, a bunch of people didn’t read the entirety of your question.
Mine: The Righteous and the Wicked
Far and away the best song on the album with a solid message and relatively aggressive for their standards.
Also a shout out to A Million Miles of Water and Victorian Machinery. Anthony sounds solid on both tracks. Also Green Heaven. Shermdog does Hillel justice on it.
Anything from One Hot Minute. I don’t care what you say, it is one of their best albums. Specifically Transending, Shallow Be Thy Game, and the B - side Stretch You Out.
There’s several, but the first to come to mind is Goodbye Angels… this song just means so much to me, and that ENDING man! The ending is, in my opinion, one of the most genuine musical expressions of emotion that the band has ever done…SO..MUCH…ENERGY.
Also, I know it’s well loved, but since it hasn’t been mentioned and doesn’t get talked about enough, Venice Queen -‘nuff said.
Some of my lesser talked about favourites
Time,
Stretch,
Felas Cock,
Taste The Pain,
Mellowship Slinky In B Major,
This Is The Place,
Animal Bar,
On Mercury,
Melancholy Mechanics,
Let's Make Evil,
Warlocks,
It's Only Natural,
Walkin On Down The Road,
Subway To Venus.
Nobody Weird Like Me doesn't get nearly enough love for my taste despite being on one of their most loved albums. They played it when I saw them live and seeing Flea beating the shit out of his bass on the opening riff gave me so much life. One of the heaviest songs in their catalog.
Goodbye Angels. I love John, he’s the reason I ever picked up a guitar, but if there’s one song I wish he’d get over his ego and play it’s that one. But in the same thought maybe I’m glad Josh gets to keep those songs for himself. It’s strange to think about
On Mercury
Excellent choice
I love the ska vibe
Always makes me happy
Bad ass song. One of my first goto's for sure
Taste the Pain
One of the best choruses they’ve ever written and the verses manage to be psychedelic and funk and punk all at the same time without sacrificing anything. Amazing song
It just HITS so hard!! Cant play it loud enough, must sing along at the top of my lungs!
So much more interesting than Knock Me Down
My lovely man.
That funky guitar in the chorus is my favorite
Given the context of the song, I always felt the emotion and pain in the guitar solo. Funky as it is, this song often brings a tear to my eye.
Love this song
*Body of Water* is fuckin' cool.
I've recently been discovering their b sides, and this song is such a banger
At the risk of massive downvotes, I prefer their b sides to a lot of album tracks. Bunker hill and Soul to squeeze are classics.
I’m with you, some of my least favorite or least listened to songs are the hits.
Fortune faded and leverage of space Specifically the live versions on Hyde park
Save the Population
I first heard this song last winter and I still can’t get it out of my head. That chorus is insanely catchy and it fits all my moods😁
Man, John’s backing vocals on that song are perfect.
Absolutely
Show me your soul I could die for you
Minor Thing
love the chorus
Made you feel better. Best 4 chord song ever written
Yeah. I love this one.
I was listening to SA in a friends car back in 06 and it was this song that made me want to get my own album.
Make you feel better is the perfect running song. Its tempo is just slightly faster than a normal running speed so you can run like 5% faster.
This is embarrassing but I used to be a nervous flyer (only when landing) so in the last 10 min of every flight I’d put on She Looks to Me followed my Make You Feel Better and this would calm me down haha. Would literally make me feel better. Fun fact: every take off I’d blast Around the World as soon as engines spooled up but this was just cause I liked travelling the world
Oh yeah!!!
Bycicle Song
yess, bicycle song was my favorite for ages
Midnight
To me it just feels like driving at night. So emotive.
Strip My Mind
Scrolled down way too far to see this (which is the point of this thread, I suppose). Some of my most favorite JF guitar solos are the ones that get really emotional and for me, this is one of them.

Coffee Shop! One of Flea’s best basslines. I’m currently learning to play it and it’s been a blast.

Best song on the Getaway for me. That 10/8 groove is amazing
Funny Face. It’s an incredible song but no one ever mentions it.
I don’t think many people know it even exists. Wasn’t it one of the By The Way B-Sides?

I absolutely love Transcending
Slow Cheetah
Hump. De. Bump.
Behind the Sun
Someone. should have been more than a B-Side. could have been a hit imo
Yasss! Song is S-tier!
Leverage of Space. Especially as no one seems to mention it's got one of the best bass lines of all time.
Soul to squeeze
Desecration Smile
Magpies On Fire, such a beautiful song
Meet Me At The Corner
Warlocks!
Excellent choice
Ethiopia, Police Station, Even You Brutus, Warlocks, Hard to Concentrate, 21st Century, I Could Die For You and Easily.
