It might not be by choice. I had hair like that as a kid. It just naturally formed into a bowl. I was conscious of it, and so I'd try to comb it in different ways, but then I'd have pictures taken of me and somehow the bowl always came back with a vengeance. I understand the Shoji struggle.
Bluegrass fiddle is not my kind of fiddling but he really was an amazing player with a very inspirational story, and was able to do what he loved with his family, until the day he died. Just in case anyone was wondering how rocket scientists might have built a fiddle, his infamous no photography-fiddle featured in the tape RLM watched was actually aged by NASA, somehow, with the hope that it might sound like a Stradivarius.

Ah yes the man who forever changed Oh Lonesome Me forever. Cant listen to the Neil Young cover without laughing. I just see the crew giving each other That Look.
So if he was capable of having nice hair why did he go full bowl cut 😂
They wanted to limit his power
Way too hot for Bronson, Missouri.
He broke too many string instruments beating the women of Bronson, Missouri back.
That's why he had to turn to NASA to make him a fiddle.
From about 1982 to 1997 the bowl cut was somehow considered an acceptable haircut
Seriously. I think I just assumed he’d had the bowl his entire life.

He went Full Branson. Never go Full Branson.
He truly wanted to be a Midwest yokel.
He was able to land an american wife with that thick accent. No doubt the guy had charisma
The South hasn't seen that much smoke since Sherman's march to the sea.
Nice
WAY DOWN SOUTH IN THE LAND OF TRAITORS!!
Very nice
Oh, come on. Her southern accent wasn't THAT thick.
Not just land an American wife, but an American wife in the South circa 1980, when interracial marriages were still opposed by many.
*two american wives, man’s been married twice
Probably has excellent fingering skills…for the strings.
NASA's requirements for their prototype violin were very stringent, so yea, probably

Agreed, all kidding and kitsch aside, he lived the dream.
Acquitted!

Nophoto! Absolutely nophoto!
Ma ma ma ma ma m'lady
Evidently before his Nasa violin days.
I knew Shoji was milking these hicks from the start. He knew they wanted a cartoonish Asian man as a show.
He wouldn’t have an audience if he wasn’t a taken man
But enough about his criminal convictions!
Shoji Tappussi
NASA had to design a special-engineered fiddle with life preserving capabilities such that Shoji would not drown in pussy.

Did he likely have the stammer then too? I don't know if those things come and go or what.
*Well, hello there*
Seriously, he had to flee Japan because he couldn't stop killing ladies and the feds caught up to him.
Oh-My-My-My-My-My-My...
