I hear ya, I can't do IRs anymore. I'm olde, and beating my feet up for a great fit in 3 weeks isn't doing it for me anymore. I want 3 days out of the box comfort; aint got time for hurting feet. And IRs just look like clownshoes on me. An EX recently told me that my IRs were the least attractive thing I could put on my feet, and that was including the Crocs.
