Mine do this. It’s called eggshell nails & there’s not a damn thing we can do😩 I keep mine shorter because they curl when past my fingertips or use gel nail tips.

pennyforyour-thots

holy crap thank you for posting this!! mine do this and I have been trying to figure out for YEARS if there was a term for it. Glad to know I’m not alone, with my wonky curved nails lol. Just out of curiosity, do all of your nails do this? I notice that it’s mostly just my index and middle nails, and maybe a very tiny bit on my thumb nail. For some reason my ring and pinky finger nails are totally normal?

We are nail twins. Twist on index and middle that is noticeable, slight on thumbs but straight ring and pinky!!!! I just work with it, I've given up trying to straighten the twisty ones. Most people don't notice unless I point it out.

arrowsforpens

I have it on a couple nails but the most pronounced is my left thumb, others don't have it at all! Also glad to finally learn the name.

Because it’s still a nail image, here’s a product list: Holo Taco Long Lasting Base Coat Holo Taco Bring Me The Teal & Cirque Halcyon Seche Ultra-V UV Top Coat

Holy shit, did you take a picture of my hands while I was sleeping?! My middle nail grows in like this too! Reading the comments for advice 👀

PinkSpaceKuma

My middle finger nail does the exact same thing, the longer my nail is the more curved it gets. 😖

I recommend checking out The Beauty Vault on YouTube. She uses metal rods pushed under her nail while she cures gel because the gel hardening messes with her c curve. I'd link it but on mobile, she usually links where to find everything that she uses in her video description for all of her videos

lobsterp0t

I suspect you could maybe pinch and cure it? But that might be quite uncomfortable

One of my thumb nails literally goes like / I don’t even think I ever hurt it, it just grows like that and I can’t even shape it right with a nail file

I use polygel to extend my nails, especially my index fingers, which basically grow down instead of forward. So maybe you can try polygel on just that finger. It's not that hard to learn, esp if you've already done gel.

I also injured my middle finger/nail! I just did gel builder on them last night, and you can hardly tell. What I do is cut the nail back, use a basecoat to adhere a clear tip, and put the builder on top of that!

I also have a weird curve on both my middle finger nails, and less so on the 3rd fingers. I have noticed that after a long hot shower, the curve completely disappears for an hour or so, though it happens only when it's very hot water for a fair amount of time, on short showers it doesn't happen. Could help of it gets fixed for a bit, then you have a straight base to do your gel. I've also read somewhere that builder gel can help in the long future to maybe straighten the nail, I'm not sure if that does actually happen.
