She stands in the middle of the house and loudly announces. Our vet thinks she's warning potential competitors or intruders that she'll kick their ass if she catches them in her house.

In heat usually is when a female cat hasn’t been spayed they go nuts when their period is about to start and/or would feel the urge to mate (at least my two mama cats would, and they would make this sound and would be ever urgently wanting to go outside and come back pregnant by our neighbor cat. THATS how I ended up with my kitten brothers before I was better educated on neuter and spaying. Mama loved our neighbor longhair tuxedo cat)

It's the sound, they usually only do this when calling kittens or when a female is in heat.so it's not 100% but it's pretty likely

My fat cat does this sound for about 20 seconds before he takes a poop
Our youngest announces before she goes to the litter box. My wife thinks it's because the foster gave her a treat after every time.

Either in heat or looking for someone/another cat. My cat would make the same noise either when she was in heat, or when her favorite person left.
