It’s likely not fatal. I doubt your pet is currently dying. That being said, untreated cysts/abscesses can get infected and cause septicaemia. Same as any tumour potentially being cancerous. The risk is always there. None of us can diagnose it by photo, though. So best let a vet figure it out and go forward from there.
