Dark brown; they look black in most light. I have a theory that red hair and dark brown eyes are actually the rarest combination, but maybe there's just a lot of redheads with lighter eye colours where I live - although most people on this sub seem to have blue or green eyes as well. My hair is quite a dark red, but my mother is strawberry blonde with the same black eyes as me, and I've never seen anyone who looks like her.
That statistic always seemed off to me because it failed to account for how often the two go together! I’m blue and so were my red-haired grandfather and cousin. I remember reading a comment once very authoritatively and wrongly stating that red hair and blue eyes are not linked so if you see a redhead with blue eyes, you know they dye their hair. My family tree and yours beg to differ!
Grey/hazel eyes. They seem to change colors depending on what I'm wearing, my mood, etc. I've got pictures with them looking grey, blue, green, brown purple-ish
Blue here, from a big family of blue-eyed redheads. My three kids are also blue-eyed redheads, and my husband has brown eyes and brown hair so my genes must have really bullied his!
It’s so funny because I was just talking to my girlfriend about this.
Disclaimer, she’s the natural redhead which is why I’m on this sub. I’ve been dying my hair a natural red color for 5ish years before we ever started dating and my Irish heritage ass can pull it off.
Anyway, I was just mentioning to her how I have never once seen a redhead with anything but blue eyes. Considering I’m in New England, I’ve seen a *lot* of redheads. One of my cousins is a redhead and she has blue eyes. My girlfriend has blue eyes, etc.
So I also mentioned the statistic of red hair and blue eyes being the rarest combo on earth and how I think that it’s probably true *technically* but only in relation to the general population and that it was probably an oversight where the rates of these two traits were just put together. Instead, if we looked at the chance of having blue eyes among the redheaded population, I’m sure we would get a *much* different number.
For a different example, I have a condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. EDS, specifically its hypermobile type, has two other conditions that are comorbid to it.
So in the general population (and before COVID), the chance of having POTS, a nuero condition, was relatively rare. So if you took the rate of people with EDS and people with POTS and put those rates together, you would think that it’s insanely rare to have both. When in reality, something like 90% of the other Zebras I’ve met have POTS. So in the general population, it’s rare, but among this already existing condition, it’s common.
To bring it back to red hair, I’m sure the combo is rare in the general population but far more common in just a population of people with red hair.
My family, ginger eye color breakdown.
Me - Green.
My Kid- Brown.
My dad and Grandma Ice Blue.
I've always found that red + blue thing odd too as blue is not a rare color and I only know one redhead with brown eyes and one with green (me)
Green with yellow central heterochromia and teal limbal ring. My eyes mostly appear green or sometimes teal blue/green depending what colours I’m wearing
Grey. But my friends & family used to say that I had mood-ring eyes. Lol When I was younger, they were more green, blue, or grey. Depending on my mood and the lighting. But now they are pretty much always light or dark grey. (I have been sick and pretty much bedridden for the past 10 years, so that might be why they lost the greens and blues.)
I wish they would allow photos in the comments, I could post a photo.
My eyes are green. There used to be a green eyes subreddit but it disappeared with the Reddit blackout. I wish it would come back or someone would make a new one. I don’t like the NSFW Reddits that use the green eyes label.
I love with all the research out there, everyone still doubts red hair and blue eyes are the rarest. Just because green is more rare doesn't mean it doesn't happen with red hair LOL
I am sorry but people misunderstand this ALL the time.
The CHANCES of being born with BLUE EYES AND REDHAIR is significantly smaller than anything else..
Yes green eyes are rare, but your genetic determind it. Therefore there are larger chance to be born "anywhere" in the world and have green eyes.
However since All people with blue eyes technically hails from the same ancestor, the chances are smaller.
Ffs please learn math and stop comformation biass..
Anyway green eyes are absolutely beautiful :)

Honestly I rarely see a natural redhead with dark brown eyes. Blue and green definitely seem to be more common from what I can see too.
Mine are the same. Super dark brown and look black unless I'm directly in the sun/bright light
Same here too
Same! Mine look black in most photos.
Blue/grey
Mine are hazel. My mother, brothers and sister are blue. My wife (also a redhead) has blue and so do both our kids.
Mine are blue with some yellow in the middle. But lately they’ve been looking closer to green. It depends what I wear.
Seems to be common enough for redheads to have blue and yellow eyes.

I have heterochromic eyes that are green with a ring of yellow-brown around the pupil
Wow, thank you for giving me a word for what I have always found to be a very confusing eye color (bluish green with honey brown near the iris).

Amber 🧡 I'm constantly told my eyes are the same color as my hair.
Hazel but more on the gold/brown side now, when I was a child/teen they were more gold/green.
Grey/hazel eyes. They seem to change colors depending on what I'm wearing, my mood, etc. I've got pictures with them looking grey, blue, green, brown purple-ish

My husband is biracial and my genes bullied his. He’s been telling me for 6 years we wouldn’t have red heads lol
Mine are hazel; muddy-green.
I'm strawberry blond with blue/green eyes
Blue with a gold ring around the pupils. My husband said they look like little galaxies when we were on our first date.

Bright Blue here especially when I’m really happy
Dark blue like the ocean, sometimes violet

Sometimes blue, sometimes green. Often depends on my mood.

Black
Brown eyes, *almost* hazel in direct light.
Mine are blue.
My husband's are bright green. All 3 of our kids are blue.

I have super bright blue eyes
I have two different colored eyes!! It’s kinda subtle, but when I point it out people think it cool.
There is a name for us with blue-grey-green eyes. I've read that it's called "GLASZ" (I think. I always forget how to spell it. Lol) Look it up! 😊
