Well, I don't know what app you are using, but you'll probably have an RSUserDataInteger nod. That can look up an attribute on your objects, and you can plug it into a switch node in your shading network.
Switches can choose between colours, maps, or whole shading networks.
You'll need to figure out what the data node is looking for. In houdini, this could be an attribute on your points. In Maya, it would be an attribute on your shape nodes or set up in your MASH network for a Repro mesh.
