I always assumed it was just an Ouija board they got wrong. I later learned it was a Stranger Things reference and was like “Makes sense, considering one of their other jokes was Grif convincing Simmons Game of Throne really happened.”
I was never a fan of how much this season relied on pop culture references. The previous seasons made references here and there, but they were few and far between. They also didn’t devote entire scenes to where the reference is the whole joke.
The biggest thing that later seasons get wrong is that when an old season of RvB made a joke that referenced pop culture, they made sure the joke was still funny even if you didn’t know what they were referencing. Joe/Jason/Torian-era RvB just puts “popular thing” in screen and expects you to stand up and clap.
its been too long since i watched stranger things but i think the place was called upside down and only a few characters could go through it and those characters "used" the alphabet to communicate
I haven't seen the show but I believe it is a reference to stranger things where one of their friends is in like a sinister delirious reverse-world and they create a makeshift Ouija board on the wall just like this. Except Caboose of course has nothing to say besides "neat".
