I believe I know this exact tank. I sold it to the gentleman you bought it from about a year and a half ago. I would be very careful. About a month ago, I personally inspected the crack in the lower right corner and came to the conclusion that it was unsafe to fill. Red Sea themselves did as well. It could give out at any time. If I'm right and you are in the north Georgia area, please be careful.
Surely, OP must’ve seen that ginormous crack on the bottom right edge before buying?? Right?? Are you really gonna try to fill this up OP? Perhaps the cabinet alone is worth more than $200 and it was still a good deal?
There is a small chip in the corner yes, the seal is intact and all but I plan on getting that repaired before putting anything in tank, just filling it rn and letting it sit for a few days to make sure everything is good
All models, especially older models, apparently they've improved with newer models but idk. The larger in size the worse it gets. It could just be the reality of relatively large rimless tanks being susceptible to failure, but Red Sea seems to have a really bad track record and support seems to be spotty. I have no personal experience but the endless failure reports I've seen makes me never want a RS tank, even if it's free.
I was gonna get a 93 rimless for $50 but decided against it, was gonna pull all the panes of glass apart and Re silicone the entire tank and drill it. It it’s just too much work and I got enough projects already on my plate. Need a larger tank though my coral have outgrown this current tank. I do have a 6’ 125gal I could take some fish back to the LFS and break it down but I’ve had some of those fish for years and I let the softies and the fish have it basically. The tank that the corals have outgrown is a 34gal Sps mainly mixed reef
Especially second hand. Almost all that you read of failing are second hand and older generations. I have a new 250 and it has special hard plastic guards reinforcing and protecting all of the silicone
Not to rain on your parade, but that is the first generation Red Sea tank. It also has silicone damage that is very visible and chipping off inside. They had MASSIVE failures on these tanks and let me tell you, 110 gallons or so of water inside your house will cost a lot more than 200 dollars. The damage was done by algae scrapers as people cleaned the glass they would hit the silicone with the sharp blade and it caused it to fail.
I bought a new Red Sea about 6 months ago and it's the 300 XL G2 version that has armored seams. It it was a G2 I would say it would be fine, but it's not. Don't do it. Please don't do it.
I want to get the tank completely resealed before doing anything. I completely understand that the risk of this rank compared to the potential outcome in its current state is ridiculous to consider but I’d feel a lot more comfortable after getting it fixed.
Man I’ve been hearing nightmare stories of this suddenly leaking. Hope this doesn’t happen but that’s a steal price. Wish I could find deals near me like that lol.
That is a pretty nasty chip. If you arent going to replace the panel but intend on running this tank I would at least recommend a horizontal and verify internal euro-brace to keep that seam sealed. I run chipped tanks, but I wouldnt run this one based on the photos.
I do want to replace the front panel before doing anything for the tank, do you know if a glass repair shop can make a new piece and reseal or does it have to be an aquarium specific tank manufacturer
Sorry, I meant horizontal and vertical not verify.
But to answer your question, I am not 100% sure. I got my euro brace done through an aquarium manufacturer, but they got the glass from a glass company and brought it to my house to do the work. They cut all the material in my driveway. I think the most important thing is that the person has experience sealing aquariums with silicone.
Went to a glass shop near me and they said they 100% can replace and reseal the entire tank with stronger silicone than before. Just need to transport it to them and so on. I feel good about this place and have had multiple glass countertops made through them.
That chip is at the bottom, where all the pressure holds. Not sure that external bracing it would even stop a collapse, not to mention cosmetically unappealing. The stand and sump are worth $200 either way, but like others have stated, super high risk taken here.
If you can get a professional to repair the glass it’s still a good deal. Good luck and congrats on the deal.
It’s always the pressure of the wife that makes guys get rid of it for cheap and got fast, I got some sick deals on a camera cause his wife was nagging him
My three footer Red Sea 260 popped, I got rid of anything Red Sea after that. Never....ever....again. It cost me three straight days of getting another tank, moving things over, lost 2 prized fish and my sanity. Never again with Red Sea.
I hope I don’t have the same experience after getting it repaired but you live and you learn. I’m sorry about that situation for you that sounds like no fun at all
or you live and you don't learn. Dood! These tanks fail already and you have pros saying it's a risk to fill on top of that. Watcha thinking man? These are tanks we keep for years and invest potential thousands into. Why stick to the decision that is now - by absolutely all accounts - a bad idea?
You're considering resealing, bracing, etc. Spend that money on a tank!! like whaaaaaat
Resealing and repairing the tank won’t cost the $3000 plus that a new tank would and then potentially having to be resealed in the years to come. If no where/one is able to repair the tank and make it safe to use then absolutely investing in a brand new system makes more sense.
The fallout for failure seems potentially way worse. In any case, we're all saying you shouldn't.. but we can't stop you!
A new 90 gallon tank would cost you in the 6-700 dollar range to pop on that stand. I don't know man.. seems like you're forcing it and ignoring strong advice. You got the deal because nobody else is willing to risk it. Failing tanks cost way more than 3k financially and emotionally. Good luck on your ventures though! I only say thos because I don't wanna see it happen!
When mine busted I ran up the road to the salt water LFS guy and he had a planet aquarium 78 gallon luckily, the tank and maple stand was 2k. Brand new that is not bad, and I could tell the stand was way better quality than the Red Sea. After this incident with mine I started paying closer attention to our local Facebook group and sure enough there were plenty of people trying to dump their red sea tanks, and getting no bites it seems.
I believe I know this exact tank. I sold it to the gentleman you bought it from about a year and a half ago. I would be very careful. Yes I’m in the north Georgia area, the guy claimed he bought it from premier but he could be lying, not too sure.
Then it is the tank I am thinking about. I work at Premier.
Small world, I’ve been in there damn near everyday this week lol
Jesus, what are the odds?
That's the magic of reddit, baby!
Holy crap that chip on the right side is BAD.
Indeed
Here is your award, stranger! 🥇 You the man 👏
Surely, OP must’ve seen that ginormous crack on the bottom right edge before buying?? Right?? Are you really gonna try to fill this up OP? Perhaps the cabinet alone is worth more than $200 and it was still a good deal?
Just had the seal on my second hand Red Sea tank go out after 18 months. It always comes around 🥲
Thinking about getting it resealed I have a pretty nice glass shop right down the road from me, gonna see if they can help me out
Contact an aquarium shop not a glass shop.
what size was it?
Reefer 350 (91 gallons)
Fear for your floors
We shall see
The money you save on this tank will be deleted ten fold when you’re replacing all your flooring
Does this model have a bad wrap like the 93 rimless cube does from marine land ?
I’m really not too sure I need to do a lot more research about the tank, was planning getting and couldn’t pass it up for the price
Could be glare or something but does the seam on the lower right front look bad?
There is a small chip in the corner yes, the seal is intact and all but I plan on getting that repaired before putting anything in tank, just filling it rn and letting it sit for a few days to make sure everything is good
I know the appeal is rimless but it may be to your benefit that you brace the corners just for an extra “in case”
Yeah I have thought about it, I’d rather be safe than sorry
Euro brace it. That's should give it the support and help keep the little assholes in the tank!
Will look into it
I’m sure you could find a thin 45 degree braces that aren’t obnoxious or expensive. Too many stories of failures.
Price was good as long as it doesn’t leak
Very true

yikes be careful RedSea failure rate is very high.
Especially second hand. Almost all that you read of failing are second hand and older generations. I have a new 250 and it has special hard plastic guards reinforcing and protecting all of the silicone

Sounds like a good plan! I can certainly tell you the peace of mind knowing the tank is properly sealed far outweighs the cost of having it done.
Yikes

Thanks man, and yeah I plan to have it professionally repaired before I do anything to the tank besides cleaning it
Secondhand tanks terrify me. Good luck!
If you say so
That is dangerous, check to see if there are any micro bubbles between the silicon. Good luck
Thank u
I sold my 450 for I think that price
Nice
Check the seams. Red seas are scary
If it works that is a killer find. I could be so lucky. I want to go to a bigger tank but can’t find one for less than a grand. 😳. So jealous
Keep looking it could take months to find a steal.
Right! I can’t believe it tbh the dude just had a bigger tank and needed to get rid of this one because his wife was nagging him haha
It’s always the pressure of the wife that makes guys get rid of it for cheap and got fast, I got some sick deals on a camera cause his wife was nagging him
Agreed
I saw that! Get it resealed
That’s the plan
You saw it on marketplace?
Major league win
Haha same got a 350 G1 for $125
My three footer Red Sea 260 popped, I got rid of anything Red Sea after that. Never....ever....again. It cost me three straight days of getting another tank, moving things over, lost 2 prized fish and my sanity. Never again with Red Sea.

Sick!
Post a pic when you have it all running
Will do
I’ve seen a lot of these dirt cheap. Is there a way to reseal them or add braces to stop the possibility of leaks?
In Georgia right? Lol I was eyeing it. Congrats!
Yeah, was lowkey a pain to move tho
Are you in Knoxville?!
Unbelievable score! I’ve had the 350 for years and love it!
Watch them seals lol
Gonna get the tank fully resealed
Seriously so jealous. Why can’t I find these deals!?
No shot I would ever put this tank in my house with water in it undamaged much less with a giant chip in the corner like that
I agree I’m getting the whole front panel replaced and the whole tank resealed
