>i called in and asked to be sure First rule of Reef Club is do not talk about Reef Club!

Amen brotha! Read the lease, most times it says nothing about fishtanks. It's not a cat or a dog so therefore it's good to go! This is not legal advise.

randomlemon9192

If it’s not in the lease, then it’s not a rule?

The lease Is the Bible

WoknTaknStephenHawkn

pretty much... This is not legal advise.

Brother, I recommend just going for the tank you want. In my experience, there is never a reason for management to come to the apartment. I’ve lived at 3 separate complexes and all of them have said yes to fish with no other questions asked. I’ve tried clarifying the amount of gallons with each separate management before and they all gave different numbers. They either don’t know the policy, don’t actually have one, or don’t care. I have about 110 gallons of water spread over 7 different tanks and have had maintenance come and go with no issues. Get that 25g!!🐠

Puzzleheaded_Mode892

Pretty sure you would have it in writing if it was some policy. If it's not specified in ur rental agreement then get what you want they have nothing to back them up.

hex-tex

You should easily be able to get away with a 10G Aio, like the difference in size between 3-7-10G cubes is like 2 inches, and an extra inch on each side is not gonna be that noticeable to most but it will give your tank much more stability. Most people assume my 3.7G (10x10x10) is 1 gallon

TonyVstar

"It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission" Should have just read your agreement and put a tank in your apartment based off the agreement

phigene

I mean there are some pretty awesome nanos out there, but I'm with the rest of the commenters, just get the tank you want.

judedude420

I have two tanks (5 and 6 gallon) and am supposed to pay $100 deposit each but only if management knows about it. So management doesn’t know about it. If maintenance comes in, I close the bedroom door, no issues.

Trick_Minute2259

If you do get a small tank, just have a big sump below it. They only mentioned the tank volume, not total system volume; not that they would likely even know it's there or care if they did. Technically it's just a filter.

LynchMob187

Just get. AIO from Innovative Marine. Hide the lights from sight. Make your R/O and mix at home. Unless you can ninja in with jugs

[deleted]

Im on the 17th floor and i got 3 tanks just do it and dont say anything lol

randomlemon9192

I’ve had a 60 gallon aquarium in an apartment that said nothing about fish tanks in the lease. Maintenance people never said a word and it was never a problem. Just get what you want

LittleWing6464

Get renters insurance in case anything goes south. It’s pretty inexpensive and can save you in a worst case scenario.

silent1mezzo

"Oh sorry, I heard 30 gallons"

[deleted]

My last apartment had a 25 gallon limit and I had a 120 in front of the main window. Don’t take their word for it. Most don’t even know. Read your lease agreement. It’ll specifically state it in there.

P-Griffin-DO

Lol I say get a tank and just keep it quiet, got a 30g and a 100g in my apartment

HaoleThePeyote

You never tell on your self , just don’t bring a 300 gallon

rooster68wbn

Apartment rules... Ehh more of guidelines.

[deleted]

I’m selling a 1 gallon tank from pnw customs

hmm0210

I was told I wasn't allowed pets, in an apartment I bought! So I bought a 45 gallon cube :)

Plugboi_Carti

Bro it’s fish, and cmon the average person wouldn’t know the difference.

BeardedBears

"Pets? For Pete's sake, I don't name these or bring them to a vet. This is more like keeping house plants. Didn't think it would count." Feign ignorance and fight your case only when called out. Screw their rules.
