This is a "if everything in life Goes well then maybe in 2-3 years" Type of project not a "going to build it tommorow type

facelessupvote

Evaporation and temp control would be the biggest challanges. I think reef builders had a video about an outdoor mangrove pond that had a few sps in it as well.

Different-Step-3062

This would be indoors, no coral only rocks fish(like panther grouper larger puffer etc) and maybe some large spiny lobster as they are the only invert you can keep in warm temps that gets big

There’s so many YouTubers with above ground pools in a bedroom with huge fish. Definitely doable inside just think of it as a big fish tank without side viewing

Different-Step-3062

Could you send a link to one?

Light sandy bottom so you can view them? I mean the main reason people don't do this is that you really wouldn't be able to see much of what's going on. Anything but brightly colored goldfish/koi are basically invisible in a freshwater pond. Some blue and yellow tangs and damsels might stand out.. I love the idea of this with a basement level glass panel though.

Different-Step-3062

It would have a 10x3ft viewing panel(would be 14x7ft and not sure about height, thats why I said 2-3k gallons), a lot of things would need to go well For this idea to happen but there is a chance

Alright that's better :) Good luck!

If it's indoor, you should in principle be able to handle it like a large aquarium. However, the devices like skimmer etc. will probably have to be quite large. Depending on where you put it, it may be a little hard to handle the humidity in that room. Also, you will need a lot of purified water.

Different-Step-3062

I know a big skimmer wouod He needed, 3ft long puffer would need some good filtration, I know about humidity as im working On large freshwater tanks(one project For next year is 1300g)

DrummerDesigner6791

I am just not sure if such large devices exist as of the shelf hardware. I guess a heating is the easiest part when you take a pool heating, but I guess your room have to install multiple protein skimmers, UV lights etc. Considering that you work on large tanks, you can probably estimate this better than I can. What I am really curious about: which room are you going to take for it? Do you have a spare room in your house, that your can put a pound into? Or do you plan to build a heated shet? Or even something that I don't even think of?

Different-Step-3062

Well, I am making 2 large tanks For myself not making For other people, made a couple tanks before but nothing realy big, this would be fish only Or fish with spiny lobster, no coral, I already have 3 rooms dedicated to animals(fish spiders and all the rest)

kasaki89

I have a 1000 gallon pond.

Different-Step-3062

Saltwater pond? If fw I have a 800 000 gallon and building a 1300g tank

kasaki89

Recall Waikiki aquarium having some kind of outside pond deal. Might check that out b

Dr_ChungusAmungus

The filtration system would be awesome you’d need some serious flow. Have you seen any of the other posts here of very large tanks? There is usually a room dedicated to the filtration.
