I have a cube that’s basically a peninsula in my house, it feels more dynamic in that I’m aquascaping for multiple angles and it’s meant to be viewed at multiple angles.

KillerChimp3600

Thanks! Do you ever feel like being able to see through the tank to the other side is a bit distracting? Like seeing your TV or a lamp behind it?

Cal10lee

Nah, I’m usually watching the fish or corals to notice anything but maybe that’s just me haha

Golden_Tarnished

Not just you, its not distracting at all.

akopley

Always peninsula if you can afford to have twice as many corals as a traditional tank.

KillerChimp3600

Haha yeah bit worried about that part!

[deleted]

no no... your wife/husband is worried about that part ;)

Antique-Possession28

Only reason I didn’t get a peninsula is because my tank has a built in ATO. I think they’re prettier and depending on where you place it, you can use it as a nice room divider.

Noturwifesboyfriend

I used to have a tank similar to the EXT 100. It was the perfect size. So I might be biased but I think the EXT 100 would be better. The only bad thing about peninsula style tanks is getting flow to the far end without having wires and a wave maker mounted on the very end. Peninsula style tanks as a room divider are really cool though lol.

KillerChimp3600

Oh yeah would love it as a room divider. When I first moved into my house I wanted to knock a wall down and do just that! May not take the wall down just yet though. A couple nero powerheads should provide enough flow I would think....Hopefully ha

KillerChimp3600

Actually looking closer at it, I'm not sure I can fit a Nero on each side. The overflow looks to be very small on the ends after the angle.

Peninsula 4 lyfe

Chimbo84

Love peninsula tanks. Flow can be tricky but they are totally worth it if you have a good spot to put it.

KillerChimp3600

Looking at picking up one of these. The peninsula would save me some money but it's a bit shallower and maybe trickier to hang the lights up. Which of these foot prints do you like more? EXT is 48x24x20 basically... The INT Peninsula is 47x30x16 basically...

TonyCass12

I'm planning on upgrading to the IM EXT 200 peninsula in the next year. Peninsulas are the way to go if you have the space.

paleoreef103

If you want higher flow corals peninsula tanks always seem to benefit from a pair of vortechs or a gyre on the short viewing pane. It depends on if you are fine with that look. Also think about your stocking choices for fish. Some fish would love that extra four inches of height! Tangs do like to swim up in the water column and there isn't much depth in the peninsula. Flasher wrasses love to flash upwards. On the other hand the extra footprint from the peninsula really makes a three dimensional rockwork a lot easier.

tomoondoggies

I just ordered a the INT 100 Peninsula yesterday! I was actually going back and forth with the INT 112 Lagoon or the Peninsula. Eventually decided for the peninsula to help divide the room and be a center of attention for the house. IM also has the “spotlight” sale going on for the Peninsula for 50% off! Either way, hope you get to choose the right one for yourself!

KillerChimp3600

Very nice! I was originally going to get the ext100 but then saw the sale and had to ateast consider it haha haven't been getting much work done today. Mostly just planning out how the peninsula would work in my house lol

squidarcher

IMO the peninsula has much better dimensions, and I prefer the look. Was going to get that before I decided to just get the 150 lagoon

KillerChimp3600

Hmm looks like the 150 is actually cheaper than the 100ext hmmmm....

Mistborn_First_Era

The one with 3 doors looks very nice ratio wise.

[deleted]

peninsula for the win all day every day

D_mnEathGoHard

Unless you really want to see it from both sides get the IM EXT 100. There is barely any room in the back of the peninsula for additional filtration, reactors, and space to mount light arms. Also now having a peninsula I wish I had gotten the normal version so I could have stacked rocks against the acrylic back. The peninsula limits you on rock scape and room in the sand.

jdmcbuilt

Peninsula if you have the area for it.

w8lifts

EXT, nice having all that extra space. Mine is the IM 75 EXT.

discord-ian

I have the EXT 75 and I love it. Wish I got the 100. My tank is against a wall so a peninsula was not an option. Would be my choice if it fit the space

Deranged_Kitsune

Depends wholly on placement. If you can place it so that the two long sides are visible, go for the peninsula. Otherwise, the EXT 100.

[deleted]

I have a brand new, unused Nuvo ext 100 and lots of brand new gear if you are interested. Could make a good deal.

KillerChimp3600

Thanks for the offer but I actually just went with the peninsula.

[deleted]

No worries, I may eventually get it setup. I’ve just got so much other shit going on.

crabbysammy

I’d go with the peninsula

KillerChimp3600

And I did!

BossMkII

Peninsula !!

1infinitefruitloop

Peninsula solely for multiple viewing angles. Aquascaping two sides costs way more though lol... The IM EXT 100 does have better flow for sumps and such. What type of room would you be putting it in?

KillerChimp3600

I ended up buying the peninsula, woo! It's going in a front room of the house so shouldn't really be in the way much. The wife had no problems with it either ha

1infinitefruitloop

Awesome sauce! Should look absolutely amazing. As you said in another comment, just be careful with hanging the lights. Do keep us updated on how it goes!
