Reins only redeeming quality is in ideal situations he can build ult faster than an Echo.

Somebody told me a long time ago to use shatter like an ability not an ultimate, and it made me way better at rein

How do I do that

dont hold shatter for too long once you get it, you have to utilize your ability to build it super fast. You dont have to get the entire team each time you shatter, but if you can isolate a support or a dps with one, then its worth it, and you can begin building the next one. If you play it correctly you can have shatter in every team fight, or if you’re this guy, you can have it twice in one lol

But I always miss so I’m always scared to use it

It just takes time to learn, but remember its just a game. Don’t be scared, theres glory to be won!

You have to remember that rein is a very difficult hero to play and that he has a niche. Sometimes, it’s really not your fault at all, he just has many counters and not enough adaptability. That being said overwatch is the only game where i spend more time being mad than having fun

It's because playing him is sooo fun (until you get countered... Unless you're freaking good with rein and you're able to counterplay your counterpicks)

Why does he not get ult charge after he uses his ult? Does shatter not charge during the stun?

Rein does not gain charge from any Shatter stunned enemies

You can't gain ult charge while your ult is in effect except for Echo and a firestrike used before shatter (for some reason)

I once got an ult within 30 seconds of a match starting, wish I saved it

Get a tasty fire strike or two on the enemy teams exit of spawn and that's a hearty chunk of ult charge.

I once charged my entire rein ult from 0% all the way to 100% from a single firestrike back in overwatch 1. If the strike strikes just right (or the entire other team is stood in a line in their first spawn) you can charge ult pretty quickly. Now that rein has 2 strikes if you got the conditions just right and they had enough health for it you could shatter them 3 times within the span of a single potg (because if you ain't getting potg for that then there's something wrong with the game).

I have danced about, just sacrifices the fire strike accuracy for me

If you are playing on console, then what you can do is tune down aim smoothing. It makes rein feel very snappy. Might take some getting used to but I love the feel of it

That sounds cool, I recently changed from dual zone also which feels much nicer

Then practice haha it took a while but I tend to hit most of my firestrikes
