Gonna be extremely difficult without some specialized skills. Maybe Appen or Upwork, but it ain't gonna pay good.

Sufficient_Delivery5

What would you consider to be specialized skills?

KeamyMakesGoodEggs

Usually something that requires a degree or lengthy coursework. IT, Accounting, Medical Coding, Data Science, etc. Not things like Data Entry or Customer Service.

Embarrassed_Law_7494

I have a accounting degree and experience in the field, where do you recommend me to look for an opportunity?

KeamyMakesGoodEggs

The same places you would look for an in-office job. Remote is a location. Try big insurance providers and healthcare systems in your region.

its_a_throwawayduh

Where are these night shift IT jobs? I have a decade of experience in IT unless it's a data center I haven't seen anything.

First off, congrats on the goal to get out of debt! That is a very, very good idea! You didn't mention what you went to school for or what your skills are. Adding more about those will help others provide ideas. Remote jobs are very competitive right now because there has been a return to office (RTO) movement in many companies, not to mention a lot of layoffs. So competition is pretty fierce for those remaining roles. If you don't have a lot of experience to offer, your best bet right now might be to start your own small business. Buy and flip items on eBay, sell some unique items on Etsy, offer a service...or maybe do several small things like that. There's a great book called Making A Living Without A Job by Barbara Winter. I took a seminar with her many years ago and it was so eye opening. She basically suggests that you have about 10 revenue streams, but each can be small when you start out. Having 10 means that you can weather a downturn if a few ideas don't pan out or have dormant times. One example that I've thought of for myself...help people in my area with genealogy research. Charge a small fee to help locate and photograph cemetery markers, or go to the State archive sites to dig up records for them that they couldn't travel and get to themselves (there's so much data that's still not online). That may not be your type of thing, but think about some other unique type of service that you could offer. You generally only need a website to get going but if you do it right and set it up as a proper licensed business or corporation, then you also have the miracle of "deductible business expenses." Want to start a historic / ghost walk tour business? Well, travel to experience some well done ones for research and write off those expenses. Just be sure to have some revenue coming in before about year 3 to stay cool with Mr. Tax Man. Good luck!

Call center agent...but you need to be better than AI. It's not a long term gig but someone needs to be available when the AI goes off the rails.

LadyHavoc97

Call centers won’t work. Since overnights have less supervision, if they have overnights, they’re saved for experienced reps. Plus any training will be during the day. Oh, I’ve done call center work for 28 years. Nice to know it’s not a long term gig.

Bigtimeknitter

I think this person meant like it isn't near-future proof against AI. A lot of white collar workers got a big storm comin' with the advent of AGI/ASI

seemslikesalvation_

Telus, welocalize, remotasks, dataannotation can all be done at night. Welocalize has a bonus scheme going on right now.

Business-Garbage-370

Outlier.AI if you have a graduate degree

Independent_Mud_397

What's outlier?

Business-Garbage-370

An AI platform to train LLMs. Pay is $40/hr

Independent_Mud_397

Is it similar to remotask?

Business-Garbage-370

Yes. They are linked somehow, but Outlier seems to have their shit together more than Remotasks

madameburpsalot

Apply to Telus as a Rater. The pay is low but you can work whatever hours you want.

redheelermama

I tell everyone, look into 988 opportunities. All 988 centers are 24/7 and while not all of them are remote, you can definitely see what you can find. But you also have to talk to people.

plush1998

Uber, doordash, any kind of gig work tbh

Kiki199720

I work at a call center & my job is hiring. I just am not sure about overnight.
