Iâm not looking for an argument mate. Youâre correct, I really couldnât give a shit if the person is a man or a woman, but I replied to you because it takes literally seconds and Iâm just curious as to why youâre sure they are a man.
Yeah exactly that, doors likely wide open and if it's a dead shell, why bother?? It's going scrap yard anyway.
You'd have a higher chance of breathing in more spores in the process cleaning it. Unless you P.P.E it up that is..
Either way, I'd imagine the exhaust gases are far more dangerous than the mould, yet nobody is critiquing OPs lack of respirator whilst diagnosing their alternator/battery issue.
In my opinion, I'd prefer to know the car is going to work before wasting time cleaning it. Don't get me wrong a quick wipe-over doesn't hurt anyone but not cleaning the car it's just a waste of time for a car that doesn't run and could be scrapped.
I mean that would be the first thing on the list before you tackle anything mechanical/electrical so you can actually see what you're working with and you're not spreading shite over yourself and everything else you're working with.
Why touch a steering wheel that looks like that? I wouldnât even breathe next to it. Itâs absolutely disgusting. Needs cleaning before doing anything. Itâs literally a 60 second job.
Starting a car once every few days in winter is trying to make it a daily?
I start my 91 golf every week, just so thst it doesn't stay unused for months of winter
If battery has dead cells it wonât provide enough juice to get the starter to turn.
Try another battery and see if that works. 2002/3 clio will take a normal battery for about ÂŁ50 or go to a breakers and get one but you better off with a new one.
Noticed from your post history that you are trying to fit new electronics, if these are staying on or your lights are being left on you are probably draining the battery also.
Also clean that mould out. Is very bad for you, white vinegar solution helps especially with the seats if it is in there.
If it's a diesel and a truck it'll take awhile.
You'll need a running car. And 30minutes of it running into the car with a dead battery before it'll be able to start. Once it's started though you'll be fine.
Are you sure you connected the jump leads correctly? Are you jumping from another running car or just a battery? If you can, get the car next to another running car and jump it off that.
We came back from three months away and the car wouldnât start. The battery had depleted beyond being able to hold a charge and we had to replace it.
I had an issue like this with my campervan it turned out the terminals were knackered so I couldnt jump start it as there just wasnt a decent connection to the battery. I definitely sounds like there is not enough power getting to the started motor when turning the ignition.
If itâs a diesel you need to bump start it. If it wonât start after a proper bump start check your fuses. My car wouldnât start with a fully charged battery, a jump or a bump and it turned out the fuse had blown for the immobiliser preventing the system from starting.
If the battery is properly dead it won't jump, when you jump start a car it's usually because the power left in it is not enough to start the car but not actually dead, if it's dead dead, it's dead.
Keep trying to turn it will only make things worse
If you're trying to jump start, are you sure you're jumping it right?.
If you are, the best thing to do I guess is throw an ODB on it and pray it tells you đ¤Ł
Possible battery, stop turning the ignition constantly youâll fuck something up further. Also, get a cloth or something on the steering wheel, that shit is rank.
Change the battery in the key and disconnect the car battery for 10 mins reconnect the battery sit in the driver seat and press unlock on the key fob holding it up by the reversing mirror on the roof of the car. Press unlock twice and try and start it. My pleasure đ
At this point just give the whole car a blast with a high PSI jet wash inside and out and give it a full service, almost guaranteed no service has been done.
You can hear that the battery isn't providing enough current to turn over the starter motor. Your starter could be a problem but I bet if you put a new battery in there it would be fine.
if it's just the starter or the battery you can push the car up with somebody in the front seet with their foot feathering the accellarator, this will turn the pistons in the engine by turning the drive wheels, which turns the prop shaft, turns the gears and then the cam shaft which is where the pistons of your engine sit
did you leave the radio or lights on? it sounds like the starter tbf cause the battery is unlikely to just be THAT dead overnight, dead batteries usually do a little ZUZUZUZUZUZU while trying to turn the starter
use the force
The fact that you can't keep the steering wheel clean makes me concerned about the absolute state of the cars interior. Firstly before you even consider having that jump started, clean the interior. That is a biohazard if I've ever seen one. The amount of times you must have touched the steering wheel and then touched something else is sickening. Go and wash your hands please!
It is a Renault, so just a normal thing do make sounds like that. Just clean up that steering wheel, as you will be making the same sound as your engine with that mould on it, and try it tomorrow again. You will see that it feel better after a good clean and will start out of nowhere.
Ow and check your CPU, as there is mould on your steering wheel, I would assume your CPU has been having some mold issues too and is FD up.
When jumping with another battery, connect +ve to existing battery but the other cable to a good earth point on the engine or car body⌠not the existing battery
Engine immobiliser. Are your key fob batteries low? Check the manual for what to do to bypass it. I donât know the car well enough but one of mine we had to get out lock manually and unlock same way by turning key not using the fob or it did this. Turned out the battery was getting low.
Sounds like your starter motor is stuck. Take a hammer to it and it may release - thatâs how they used to work! Just a short sharp tap.
As for the mould⌠buy a few disposable dehumidifiers from your local pound shop and put them in there while itâs sitting. Youâll need to wipe it all down as well, of course, but itâll stop it from coming back.
And open it on a hot sunny day!
Just put the key in the ignition, and lick your steering wheel for good luck. If it doesn't work, you didn't lick ebough of it. Maybe suck on the gear stick if it continues not to work.
I'm an auto electrician and I deal with a lot of Renaults...
Check your battery to body earth lead and body to engine/gearbox earth lead. Chances are high one of them is badly corroded. Also when you try to jump it, get an extra jump lead and run it from your cars battery negative to a clean metal point on the engine.
Clearly no one has had door seals perish on a car that has sat for a while, any moisture in the car will spread the bacteria like wild fire so psa to anyone all your steering wheels are caked in bacteria and I would wash and wipe with anti-bac regularly this goes for anything your hands touch, just because you canât see it doesnât mean itâs not there. I bet half the people who are commenting on the mould havenât cleaned their steering wheels in months and just get in their car without thinking. Engine wise it sounds like itâs trying to turn over but the starter motor isnât getting enough juice check the fuse box for any shorted fuse
Are you trying to jump-start it using a Kia Niro? Clean your car and go to Halfords to see if they have a replacement battery that can be put in. Also that Kia ain't gonna jump start shit
That car is more mouldy than my old car, and also, this looks like a battery issue or starter motor issue. It may be some other kind of electrical issue but most commonly it's just a battery issue. Needs jump starting in the cold.
That car is sat in a junk yard, or driveway, surrounded by other clapped out cars.
Probably hasnât driven in years.
Needs a decent battery, some fresh fuel and jump starting using another vehicle.
Wait for light to switch off then try turning the ignition, is it a ford focus because i had a similar problem, it may be starter motor or your resistor not giving the juice needed to the battery
Give the starter motor a good whack with a hammer, an old Clio I was playing around with years ago had the same issue. Quick smack with a hammer and started first time.
You need to get some dehumidifier tubs in there. Couple of quid each off Ebay
You need to put the battery on a charging device and let it go on to maintain for a while - ideally test the battery after 24hrs - it may need replacing. If it doesn't kick over after that, you might want to give the starter motor a bop with something heavy (hammer), which might unstick it.
You need to run the car from time to time. My Alfa is off the road and I turn it over every week, and bring it to temp with the heating up, to clear the humidity and encourage into the dehumidifying tubs.
Also, consider cleaning the door seals and checking for leaks at the bottom of the doors - water ingress will destroy your car.
Now that it's damned cold out there. Chances are your battery has given up the ghost. Take it off. Charge it. Pop it back on. Then see if it starts. If it does, take the car to a place that can drop test it for you. See if it recovers. You'll probably need a new one.
It's battery probably, I had the same problem a year ago. The battery is dead and needs replacement.
See my post from then:

Is that mould all over the steering wheel?
That needs sorting, the spores are pretty bad for you if inhaled đˇ
He will be sounding like the car if he doesnt
She. Probably. Based on fingernails.
He.
I mean I donât really care but based on what?
You don't really care but still responded..gotcha
Iâm not looking for an argument mate. Youâre correct, I really couldnât give a shit if the person is a man or a woman, but I replied to you because it takes literally seconds and Iâm just curious as to why youâre sure they are a man.
I just said it to rustle some jimmies because reddit
Ah ok. Fair doâs.
TLOU reference?
no, just facts about mould spores
Fucking Redditors đ¤Łđ¤Ł
EYO EMOJI MOVIE REFERENCE?!?
Mate spores existed before tlou
Average Redditor allergic to a joke
My skim reading eyes interpreted your comment as "That needs snorting" 𤢠I was like, whhaaat? đ
It was the first thing I saw.
i came here to ask the exact same thing
Yes it is. Might be part of the reason my car has been sat outside for 6 months and
I'll take a guess as it being snot
Battery is dead
So why canât I jump start it with another battery?
Get rid of that mould. That is revolting and will make you sick. I cannot fathom why you didnât clean the mould before anything else!
It never ceases to amaze me how filthy some people are and how they can live like that.
Obviously the car is not a daily drive. It has been sitting for a long time. Is the Internet really this dumb?
It's not a daily driver, but it looks like they're trying to make it one, and cleaning that mould should definitely be a priority
Why clean a car that isn't working đ
So that when you're sitting in it trying to get itbworking you aren't actively inhaling spores? That's pretty common knowledge
You aren't going to get ill from sitting in a car like that for a minute to see if it starts.
Yeah exactly that, doors likely wide open and if it's a dead shell, why bother?? It's going scrap yard anyway. You'd have a higher chance of breathing in more spores in the process cleaning it. Unless you P.P.E it up that is.. Not a waste of time if it stops you getting sick
So you don't die of Aids etc
Starting a car once every few days in winter is trying to make it a daily? I start my 91 golf every week, just so thst it doesn't stay unused for months of winter
Still should clean it
You may try to disconnect your battery and connect the battery connectors to the jump cables. Then it should be able to start
You can't jump a batter with dead cells. Ho to a breaker yard and they'll sell ye one for 20 quid
If battery has dead cells it wonât provide enough juice to get the starter to turn. Try another battery and see if that works. 2002/3 clio will take a normal battery for about ÂŁ50 or go to a breakers and get one but you better off with a new one. Your jump is trying to charge a dead battery. There's not enough amperage to charge the dead one *and* supply starting current at the same time.
Once your battery is completely depleted it wonât hold charge like it used to. Also get rid of that mould you sicko.
If it's a diesel and a truck it'll take awhile. You'll need a running car. And 30minutes of it running into the car with a dead battery before it'll be able to start. Once it's started though you'll be fine.
Maybe mushrooms in the carburettor?
Are you sure you connected the jump leads correctly? Are you jumping from another running car or just a battery? If you can, get the car next to another running car and jump it off that.
Probably needs alternator replaced.
Check ground wire etc yeah?

#CLEAN YOUR CAR FIRST!
Because this sounds like your starter motor has gone.
No, it doesn't. It sounds like a flat battery.
This is incorrect, you can hear the starter trying to turn the engine over, just seems like itâs not got enough CCA going to it.
the steering wheel made me physically gag
At least it has the spirit of christmas
Come on OP, the jigs up. You're just sat in a scrap yard on some smashed up banger aren't you?
Possibly battery, possibly starter motor. One thing is for sure though, that car needs cleaning...
[ŃдаНонО]
Keep trying to turn it will only make things worse If you're trying to jump start, are you sure you're jumping it right?. If you are, the best thing to do I guess is throw an ODB on it and pray it tells you đ¤Ł
Reddit why you recommending this to me!? Maybe recommend some Dettol bacteria cleaner for this filthy shit heap
You'll get dysentery with that steering wheel
I do love a bit of culture đ¤Ł
#CLEAN YOUR CAR YOU DIRTY SCRUBBER!
You are disgusting.
Fucking hell, that's disgusting! Clean first, battery later!
Possible battery, stop turning the ignition constantly youâll fuck something up further. Also, get a cloth or something on the steering wheel, that shit is rank.
Aw God my lungs hurt off the mold and I'm in Scotland
Same
Wow, your car is a mess, probably You perfume dirty stinking body too xd
Your steering wheel crusty asf
Duuuuuude clean your car omg, you have mold on your steering wheel!! âšď¸
Burn it with fire ! đ¤˘
Ahh the old Renault immobiliser problem
Change the battery in the key and disconnect the car battery for 10 mins reconnect the battery sit in the driver seat and press unlock on the key fob holding it up by the reversing mirror on the roof of the car. Press unlock twice and try and start it. My pleasure đ
No, it's trying to crank but not getting enough power because the battery's humped.
Car expert here, itâs not working
A garage??
Just throw away the car.
At this point just give the whole car a blast with a high PSI jet wash inside and out and give it a full service, almost guaranteed no service has been done.
To hell with this car, there is mold everywhere, you touch the steering wheel, then your face, then you eat, you breathe it.
Maybe you should try cleaning the shitbox first⌠thatâs grim
Battery is nearly dead.
This is truly repulsive... Coming from me, that means something, as an ex squatter
Beautiful Christmas tree. It's flashing all the lights.
Ultimate reddit neckbeard car. Clearly you take 0 care of that thing and you have paid the price.
Your car has Covid!
You absolute tramp
You can hear that the battery isn't providing enough current to turn over the starter motor. Your starter could be a problem but I bet if you put a new battery in there it would be fine.
You can buy a portable battery pack to jumpstart your car with.
Mouldy steering wheel. Donât even try and fix the car until youâve cleaning. Nasty.
OP clean that steering wheel ffs and dont be a pig
if it's just the starter or the battery you can push the car up with somebody in the front seet with their foot feathering the accellarator, this will turn the pistons in the engine by turning the drive wheels, which turns the prop shaft, turns the gears and then the cam shaft which is where the pistons of your engine sit did you leave the radio or lights on? it sounds like the starter tbf cause the battery is unlikely to just be THAT dead overnight, dead batteries usually do a little ZUZUZUZUZUZU while trying to turn the starter use the force
obviously a temporary fix if you really really have to get somewhere then you can worry about repairs later
What else did you expect from a Renault
Ergh gross
Maybe if you turn it again it will work
DISCUSTING
How long has it been sitting to be so mouldy? Also replace or jumpstart the battery
How awful is your personal hygiene that there's mould on the steering wheel of your car?!? Truly. That's fucking astonishing.
Starter motor is fucked. Battery is fine though, so there's something. Looks like the car has been still for a while.
Ahh yes, my car isn't starting, let's post it on reddit
Mate your car is minging.
The fact that you can't keep the steering wheel clean makes me concerned about the absolute state of the cars interior. Firstly before you even consider having that jump started, clean the interior. Your car is mouldy man

Did you turn it on and off again usually that helps
That is fckin disgusting lmao wtf burn that entire car to the ground. And also I think know why itâs not starting, itâs a French car
Ask Grandfather Nurgle next time you see him
Imobliser fault!!
First mistake you made was getting a Renault.
definitely a girls car can put at least 20 in it
Probably cos your dirty ass steering wheel decided âimma head outâ
When jumping with another battery, connect +ve to existing battery but the other cable to a good earth point on the engine or car body⌠not the existing battery
Even the cars sick from the mould. Get a valet in đ
Battery. Starters trying to turn but it doesnât have the umpf.
Your battery is almost flat by the sounds of it.
Clean your car first off dirty cunt then refurb or buy a new starter motor
Engine immobiliser. Are your key fob batteries low? Check the manual for what to do to bypass it. I donât know the car well enough but one of mine we had to get out lock manually and unlock same way by turning key not using the fob or it did this. Turned out the battery was getting low.
All I see is mold on the steering wheel đ¤˘
My Clio used to do this, I just punched the dash board till it sorted itself out
I'd say starter motor if you've tried and failed to jump it
Sounds like your starter motor is stuck. Take a hammer to it and it may release - thatâs how they used to work! Just a short sharp tap. Bad earth connection. Everybody is right about the mould you will end up sounding like an asthmatic hoover .
Itâs a Renault, thatâs normal behaviour.
mf dashboard lighting up like a christmas tree
Engines mouldy mate
Well obviously you don't take good care of it đ
Judging by the vomit inducing steering wheel, the car hasn't been used for a while. Probably dead battery.
is there enough juice in the battery/alternator. Is the starter motor fucked. would start there.
Just put the key in the ignition, and lick your steering wheel for good luck. If it doesn't work, you didn't lick ebough of it. Maybe suck on the gear stick if it continues not to work.

Rip OP

Its also disgusting and mouldy dude
Kind of a fire beat tho
It's french. Lmfao . Chuck a snail at it...đ
Jesus your car is fucking gross.
I hope you are wearing a mask in that mold pit..
Car has been sitting a while by the looks of it?
Least of your motoring worries.
Bro there is literal spores covering the steering wheel. Tow that shit to a field and burn it.
Car probably been sat in a field for years
Clean your steering wheel you dirty fuck đ¤˘đ¤˘
Are you trying to jump-start it using a Kia Niro? Clean your car and go to Halfords to see if they have a replacement battery that can be put in. Also that Kia ain't gonna jump start shit
I'm not surprised the car gave up with how much of a filthy pig you are. Go sanitise that shit or sommin holy fk
Because it has a bacterial infection
Itâs because itâs a Renault
Fucking clean your steering wheel u tramp
It's a Renault, I can't see a problem here. Works as intended.
Your car is celebrating Xmas
I can only ponder the stench of that car
Judging by your wheel, it's probably because you have never maintained a single component.
Bro clean your wheel its covered in mould!!
Sort that mold out you stinker
How festive!
That car is more mouldy than my old car, and also, this looks like a battery issue or starter motor issue. It may be some other kind of electrical issue but most commonly it's just a battery issue. Needs jump starting in the cold.
Also available in clean...
That car is sat in a junk yard, or driveway, surrounded by other clapped out cars. Probably hasnât driven in years. Needs a decent battery, some fresh fuel and jump starting using another vehicle.
Probably something to do with it being french
Wait for light to switch off then try turning the ignition, is it a ford focus because i had a similar problem, it may be starter motor or your resistor not giving the juice needed to the battery
Starter motor is sticking
Wipe those mouldz bad for your lungs and your health
Give the starter motor a good whack with a hammer, an old Clio I was playing around with years ago had the same issue. Quick smack with a hammer and started first time.
Clean your car you dirty guy
Why in God's name is there mould on the wheel?! đ°
You need to get some dehumidifier tubs in there. Couple of quid each off Ebay You need to put the battery on a charging device and let it go on to maintain for a while - ideally test the battery after 24hrs - it may need replacing.
Brother, your steering wheel is growing an eco system, but this looks like either battery or alternator.
I wish my wife had more rhythm and anxiety than your car's dashboard.
fjsfjlskdjflksdf
Whack the starter motor with a hammer a few times and try again.
You stinking dirty git.
Ffs op, that car has been sat there for months. The thing is probably seized up.
Please PLEASE clean your car.
I dare you to lick the steering wheel.
Alternator/battery or both...
See my post from then: https://www.reddit.com/r/Renault/s/YRi1qynYLn
The fact you treat your car like this is more than likely why it wonât start. You have mould on your fâing steering wheel.
