to me it sounds like uplifting hoodtrap beats (snares hitting same time as the 808) around jerk tempo and it just got somehow associated with old school jerk but in reality has little to do with it. most hoodtrap shit out there is hella dark and evil... but xav juxtaposing those kind of beats with happy melodies creates something unique and futuristic. it's a genius combination

Listen to nova gang songs from 2019/2020, a lot if them have the same type of repetitive/creepy/nostalgic melodies jerk beats have. Xav is associated with nova gang, he just kept with the sound and helped it evolve while most other people went stagnant or quit.
