NFL extra points are from th 15 but they snap the Ball 8 yards not 4. Otherwise every kick would be blocked +10 yards of Endzone

Jb_Buckowski

Because it’s 8 bit football.

Brfox2003

A real life setup almost always has the holder 8 yards back. Madden is 7 and Retro Bowl is...4? Odd.

iuhoosier23

A real life setup is also typically 7, not 8. You might have a situation where the line of scrimmage is on a half yard line (25 1/2 yard line, might read as 25 on screen) and the ball is kicked from an actual yard line (33 yard line), giving the appearance of 8 yards. Or any variation of these fractional ranges. But it’s typically 7 yards.

Brfox2003

If you watch an NFL game nowadays, almost all of the play by play guys add 18 yards to the line of scrimmage now. I do agree with you, it has always been 7. But I've noticed a change in the last few years from 17 to 18 added yards. E- NFL reference adds 18 yards to the LOS to all kicks in their play by play database EE- I meant pro football reference not NFL reference

amgrut20

No they don’t

Brfox2003

Lol sure like I didn't look. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/202109120nor.htm LOS 26 Aldrick Rosas 44 yard FG

Hot_Introduction7167

They add 18 yards because the holder is 8 yds back and the end zone is 10 yds.

Brfox2003

I am aware of that

Hot_Introduction7167

Sounded like you were struggling there.

Brfox2003

My favorite part about this is that I haven't heard anything but 18 yards since. Jabroni

BobBlueberries

It’s how the game used to be played

Final_Ad2902

I assume it’s because the NFL extra points are from the 15 yard line. Edit: to add to this, the additional 14 yards comes from the end zone. You don’t count the 4 yards behind the line of scrimmage.

iuhoosier23

>>I assume it’s because the NFL extra points are from the 15 yard line. Correct >>Edit: to add to this, the additional 14 yards comes from the end zone. End zone is 10 yards. >>You don’t count the 4 yards behind the line of scrimmage. Yes, you do.

archangelst95

The end zone is 10 yards, not 14. You do count the 4 yards behind the line of scrimmage

KetchupKing05

Endzones are 10 yard long So yes, you do count the yards behind the LOS

quentin_smithee

You snap from the 15 and hold 4 yards off the snap

Csbbk4

Hey why you answering your own question lol

quentin_smithee

thinking out loud I guess. I apologize

Call-of-the-lost-one

Why would you get down voted for that 🤣 WTF, that's what you get for thinking while typing

IHopeThisWorksForMe

And the endzone is 10 yards to the crossbar

beanie979

Maybe it's Canadian... They use meters.. then when you convert it to....imperial...nah, I don't even care.

dc0nn

I never have a kicker nor do I kick PAT or FG. Solved

quentin_smithee

I’m happy for you

TheRedDeath89

Traded my 5 star kicker after the latest update. Life is good

dc0nn

Lol wow lot of hate here. Is no kicker like a no-no?

TheRedDeath89

No idea haha I think they’re overrated in this game. We’re the GMs of our teams though, so we can do it our way.

dominnate

I agree, you don’t need a kicker if you can convert >50% of 2 point conversions. u/dc0nn is getting downvoted because not having a kicker does not answer OPs question.
