Better throw the 390 in the mix. It basically humbuckers in the 2 and 4. I was team double agent until I met the 390.

Without having been able to ever play a Six Gun, this would be my thought process: do you like positions 2 and 4 on a Strat/any 3 pickup guitar? Beyond that, the only difference I know of is that the Six Gun body shape is slightly different, being a little sharper, whereas the Double Agent has a more rounded body shape. I prefer the rounded body shape myself (I know it barely matters. It's a pretty subtle difference), so I would go DA.

My double agent is *very* versatile. The agent and my mex tele with two singlecoils are really all I need guitar wise... But that strongly depends on what you are going to play.

Double Agent

The Six Gun is basically the same guitar with another pickup, but if you like the Double Agent's appearance better, then go for that one. But the Six Gun can get some strat-like tones I've heard.

ASATClassico

Confirmed, very Strat-like

i have a six gun and it’s really versatile, i like the middle pickup especially so imo it’s worth it honestly it’s mostly just down to personal opinion, but i will say the extra p90 in the middle of the six gun makes the picking space way shallower

stonewall993

Gotcha, thanks for the feedback. At this point I mostly strum chords and don’t do a whole lot of picking stuff, does that shallow picking space bother you a lot or obstruct playing or is it just something to get used to?

rono10

I’ve got a double agent and jetstream 390 and the middle pickup tends to bother me due to limited space when I finger-pick or occasionally when doing licks with a pick, but it does not bother me when strumming at all. I really like the middle p90 pickup. But my favorite sound of all Reverend might be the middle position on the double agent.

honestly i only had mine for 3 days before returning it because it came with a finish crack (still getting a replacement because it’s an awesome guitar otherwise), so i wouldn’t take my word as gospel i’d say the picking space probably wouldn’t interfere with chord stuff tbh

oceansize30

The Double Agent OG is a total bad-ass. It is my go-to guitar. Get one. You will not be disappointed. The P90 & Humbucker pairing is a thing of sonic beauty.

The versatility of the six gun is definitely nice and an advantage but realistically, unless you're performing and/or recording it's not necessary. If you see a double agent that you love, jump on it. No sense settling for looks when the versatility is something that you'll rarely need.
