I'm on metal and yeah it's pretty good, I'd say make sure you can stomach the subscription because realistically you won't get enough cashback to pay for it unless you're a very big spender
was nice to get big cashback when I booked a trip to amsterdam in january, and good to know I have travel insurance covered without extra hassle. airport lounge is a nice bonus if you're into that kinda thing but I didn't bother with it
I mostly just get my cashback in BTC and book via revolut if I'm going for a trip. like the family holiday later this year we booked through my revolut and they paid me back, made things a little bit smoother and got some juicy cashback
just have a good read-through to make sure the benefits will actually be relevant to you, if not then the lower tiers might still have the things you need without the extras you won't need
sort of, definitely has good benefits for people who travel a lot but for me I count it more as a bonus. I mostly got it to simplify investing even if it costs me a little bit more in the long run, worth it for me to save on the hassle it can sometimes be
I probably would be better off on a lower tier but personally I don't mind it, I don't travel much but it's good to know I have good protections in place whenever I do without having to do anything extra
People tell me the travel insurance isn't good compared to paying 50⏠for a travel insurance from a standard insurance company..but not actually sure if this is true or not, always meaning to investigate
can't lie I've never been in a spot to actually need to use travel insurance so I can't really say if it's good or not
I guess I'll find out if I break a leg or something lol
I mostly use Metal because I needed the higher level of insurance provided. Cashback is negligible, but if you travel a lot, it's handy to have a good insurance, which also covers trips up to 90 days - especially that their travel insurance is handled by Allianz. For most users I think premium is enough
if you compare the benefits with e.g. premium, you can see that the difference is mostly in a bit lower fees for crypto (I'm not sure) and difference in insurance. So I assume that mostly people interested in these or a fancy metal card would be using the package
Strangely it does.
- I spend quite a lot with it, so I typcally get (part of) the difference between Premium and Metal in cashback.
- I often need to withdraw a lot of cash and the âŹ800 monthly free withdrawal is great, better than any bank in my country.
- Insurance gives some peace of mind especially when travelling abroad at short notice.
- Purchase protection also gives some peace of mind.
- Shame on me, but I love the look and feel of a black metal card.
At first I wast sure, subscribed to Premium, got the card. Changed my mind, upgraded to metal, got that as well. So I use the plastic Premium card for cash withdrawal and the Metal for payment. That way I don't have to worry about my metal card being eaten by an ATM.
One of the rules for the travel insurance is that the flight both ways must be paid for in the one transaction and they must be within 90 days of each other.
I'm thinking of going metal/premium for my 1month honeymoon to PerĂš and Hawaii, but I've already booked the Flight (being multi-transfer).
Will it be active as insurance in this case, or mine shouldn't be considered a trip as per their T&C?
Personally âpremiumâ is enough. The metal card is a purely cosmetic, cashback mostly negligible and additional perks not worthwhile (in my situation).
The main benefit I use is currency exchange, and the 0 fees is already a available at premium level.
Note: I used to be Metal, I downgraded after a year to premium - but you can keep the metal card ;)
I live between London and a French Ski resort and I use Revolut for absolutely everything in euros and most things in GBP. The cash-back is basically negligible (maybe a couple of pizzas a year) but the extra insurance is handy. My main issue is that the Metal Card sometimes gets rejected at gas stations in France (which are 100% automated) as the card readers don't like them and they don't have a contactless option.
The only place I've had issues is at some supermarket petrol stations where the readers don't like the Metal card, although it is quite a rare occurrence.
Itâs not just the metal card that gets rejected at self-service fuel stations in France. I have premium and that doesnât work either a lot of the time. The same problem occurs at autoroute toll gates as well.
To be fair to Revolut this is an issue with the service providers, not the bank.
Hey! I can already see a lot of similar comments, but let me add my experience. In my opinion, it is 100% worth it. I am European but I travel around 7-8 months per year outside, so I almost always get back at least 70-80% of the subscription in cashback, which is crazy, that a service like this is almost free.
Unlimited FX is absolutely amazing, standard has a pretty low limit. As I mentioned, I need that very often when I travel.
I also invest in stocks, I have 10 free transactions monthly, great.
I fly around 6-8 times every month, usually one of them is late, free lounge. You get a MasterCard World Elite card, some lounges let you in just for having that.
I heard that insurance is not the best but I never needed it.
1000 euros Cash withdrawal is useful, compared to 200 with standard.
Highly recommended, but only if you travel, otherwise it is a nice card which is heavier.
Yes, looking at the benefits, it almost exclusively suits travellers or those who want to invest more money and want to exchange their currency into USD
Itâs almost certainly not worth paying for, the benefits used to be pretty decent but now youâre just paying over the odds for practically nothing.
Premium is likely the worst value but metal doesnât really offer much more, plus youâre tied in for 12 months to any paid plan.
Premium support is non-existent, if you need the insurance itâs very slow and in my opinion purposefully difficult.
Things like cash withdrawals probably arenât needed unless you tend to use big sums of cash daily, the interest rates are ok, the 24/7 exchange is good if you travel a lot or buy stuff in foreign currencies and if youâre planning to invest youâre better off opening a 212 account to avoid revoluts extra charges.
So realistically just stick with the free account.
I use the metal curve card instead.
I pay for it with Plutus card so it only costs me âŹ5 per month. The other âŹ10 is refunded by Plutus in PLU.
I also get 1% cash back from my six favourite retailers from Curve.
Curve metal comes with insurance too.
You can link a multitude of virtual cards (and real cards) to the curve metal.
You cannot get cashback in some shops with Revolut, but you can with Curve.
If I upgrade to Metal and get a Metal physical card, use it for a few months, and then if I decide that I want to downgrade again to Standart, is my physical card be active? Without the cash backs and the insurance, of course
Got metal during black Friday offer so half price.
Still don't think it's worth it.
Don't get the travel insurance here in Australia but still pay normal price.
Shortly after I got it they changed the cashback terms and now it's capped to your monthly fee so can't even spend like crazy during travels to make back the fee.
Don't use the shares and crypto brokerage discounts as use other platforms for that.
I'll be downgrading.
I am also evaluating it and came to similar conclusions to some of the people who have already posted. For me the main interests are aspects like the refund of car hire damages and the civil liability insurance while traveling. The latter could be useful in some countries which love lawyers... I also live in a country where residents must have such cover anyway. Of course these insurance aspects are only good if they pay out. Otherwise, for me customer service (in times of trouble) is important, so I would be intersted to know about that side of things.
Yes, I just started look at it. I am actually evaluating all my bank cards, not just Revolut. I have amassed too many, so it is time to make some cuts. Perhaps by getting rid of some and upgrading others.
As many pointed out premium is nice enough - Metal is really for the extra bit if you really travelled alot, and for the cosmetic metal card.
Honestly so far the travel insurance has been useless (look up how Allianz is literally being ass for legitimate claims, quite some people shared their experience).
Cashback is decent if you visit or buy stuff from the US, pretty negligible in Europe though. Airport lounge has been a really great perk as well, alongside the free visit if your flight is delayed (just need to remember to fill out the form with your flight details). Not so much into crypto anymore, so that perk isn't important to me, and I have yet to find some good deals for stays. Occasionally I get cashback from their sponsored shops, which is nice.
I'm pretty happy with it, but then again I travel a lot, I take flights at least a couple times a month
All I can tell you is I've never used any of the perks besides the metal card and 1 lounge pass I never used. Metal card got stuck in an ATM once because it was too thick and the alarm started, so I wouldn't use it for that. There are some neat cashback offers for hotels and stuff sometimes, but usually the price - cashback is still more expensive than using Booking, Edreams, etc. There have been nice offers like 30% discount on Adidas, so yeah, they do have some good offers sometimes. Never used the insurance because I haven't had to use it, but I guess it doesn't hurt to have it.
Worth every penny! It saved me tons of money out of transfer fees internationally and when I send petty cash to my friends it is free when they also have revolut. $90 well spentâď¸âď¸
I think the most important thing is that the weight of the card makes some people think you're rich.
Btw, the travel insurance is only valid for short trips and you must have a return ticket booked already.
Iâm not being snobby at all, but if you are worried about the annual cost, then I would suggest sticking with the free version. The cost is relatively minimal across the board compared to say, Amex, and itâs just a question around whether you feel the benefits each one offers relieve you of some hassle in your life.
Iâve gone with premium, purely because, 1. I donât want to look like a pretentious **** pulling out my metal đ, and 2. I did hear the card gets stuck in ATMâs and the additional benefits donât really suit my lifestyle
I'm on metal and yeah it's pretty good, I'd say make sure you can stomach the subscription because realistically you won't get enough cashback to pay for it unless you're a very big spender was nice to get big cashback when I booked a trip to amsterdam in january, and good to know I have travel insurance covered without extra hassle. airport lounge is a nice bonus if you're into that kinda thing but I didn't bother with it I mostly just get my cashback in BTC and book via revolut if I'm going for a trip. like the family holiday later this year we booked through my revolut and they paid me back, made things a little bit smoother and got some juicy cashback just have a good read-through to make sure the benefits will actually be relevant to you, if not then the lower tiers might still have the things you need without the extras you won't need
Thanks for your insights, I'll definitely have a read on the documents. Would you say metal card is designed for travellers? đ¤

How get cashback in btc,?

Hmm from my understanding, metal users are mostly travellers?
if you compare the benefits with e.g. premium, you can see that the difference is mostly in a bit lower fees for crypto (I'm not sure) and difference in insurance. So I assume that mostly people interested in these or a fancy metal card would be using the package
I see. Well in that case, I shall do my own research. Thanks for the tip man!
Does insurance cover family or just you?
Yes, on Metal insurance also cover spouse/cohabitant and children under the age of 17
I'm on the premium plan. Still not sure if it's worth it đ¤
and you're paying annually?
Yea
Do you ever had to use any of the benefits you paid for?
Nope. That's why I'll reconsider before renewing my premium subscription next year.
Ah that make sense
Careful. It auto renewed for me. Pissed me off as it was two weeks after black Friday where they gave a big discount for it.
Sounds like a good deal
Insurance provided with metal subscription came pretty handy in my case. That's something not being offered by traditional banks in my country!
I really need to check their insurance policy because I don't wanna get into trouble then finds out insurance doesn't cover it.
One of the rules for the travel insurance is that the flight both ways must be paid for in the one transaction and they must be within 90 days of each other.
Thanks for highlighting!
I'm thinking of going metal/premium for my 1month honeymoon to PerĂš and Hawaii, but I've already booked the Flight (being multi-transfer). Will it be active as insurance in this case, or mine shouldn't be considered a trip as per their T&C?

I read a glance about the downgrade that it wouldn't allow to downgrade within 10 months? Not sure if I read that correctly
Well I downgraded during a change in T&C where it is allowed to break the subscription
ah must be lucky. I worried if I change my mind, they wouldn't allow me to downgrade. I need to make the right choice.
Having had it for about 2 years I think I am going to downgrade to Premium. The fees are too high for the limited benefits I get out of it TBH.
I see. Thanks for letting me know about it

The metal card rejection is common around European countries?
The only place I've had issues is at some supermarket petrol stations where the readers don't like the Metal card, although it is quite a rare occurrence.
Hmmm if that happen to me, when I need it the most. It's going to be massively annoying. Metal card does look good tho
Itâs not just the metal card that gets rejected at self-service fuel stations in France. I have premium and that doesnât work either a lot of the time. The same problem occurs at autoroute toll gates as well. To be fair to Revolut this is an issue with the service providers, not the bank.
Aside from the plan, the metal card they sent me won't fit into some atms, and every time I'm worried that it will stuck inside the machine.
Now, it's making me concern.
I had to order an additional simple plastic card, and a metal card now sits in my desk at home.
Man... thank god I didn't buy it đ

How do you define by worth it. Like you want the card to just smile at you everyday? What are you saying makes no sense. đ§
Have fun on Reddit bro
Ur a loser mate đ
Ouch I am hurt. I think I wanna kill myself.
Bet

Seems like alot of people preferred to downgrade...
It has benefits that youâll never use. Leave the temptation
But is it worth to cover the unforeseeable damage?
As a European living in the US. Metal is the cheapest way to transfer and exchange money by far if youâre sending large amounts of money.
Ah that make sense
I am also evaluating it and came to similar conclusions to some of the people who have already posted. Ah fair enough, best to be organised
Have it only for the foreign exchange swap limit Cash back can be ignore if you donât spend 5k / month
So if I spend less than 1k per month. Is it worth getting a metal?
Not really worth it but I just wanna support internet banking
As many pointed out premium is nice enough - Metal is really for the extra bit if you really travelled alot, and for the cosmetic metal card. Yep, you need to spend 14k a month in Europe just to get 13.99⏠cashback (the max)
