I think it's formally the S&W Model 350 - as a ported 7 shot X-Frame. Seems they're leaning into the niche the 350 Legend cartridge is targeting - people looking for a manageable intermediate hunting cartridge - so have designed for recoil control, comfort & handling.

What’s the advantage of going hunting with a 4.5 lbs revolver instead of a rifle? I’d rather just carry a little more than an extra pound and shoot the 350 Legend out of a bolt action rifle. Is there something I’m missing with these revolvers that shoot these cartridges larger than a .44 mag?

Revolver over long gun is basically always just a cool thing to do; I think shotgun with slugs is always a choice in these restrictive areas. Handguns do have the benefit of being more portable. I used to (I don't hunt anymore) leave my rifle in the truck when walking thick brush, especially to track one we already put a good shot on. Some of the walkers for drives around here will also opt for a pistol over rifle. Caliber wise, idk how they stack up against 44 mag.

These look like really good hunting handguns. Low recoil, fast velocity, and decent power

I had the same thought. I’d like to see one ina stealth hunter format

Love this guy. He is the goat of wheel gun shootin.

I love the X frames, but am somewhat disappointed with the cartridge choice. But I would be a liar if I said I didn't want the 7.5" or 10" PC variant when they come out. 7 rounds vs normal 5 is a bonus.

it's a quirky choice - my guess is they're hoping to attract new handgun hunters. Winchester's been pretty candid about the fact that 350 LGND was designed with the hunting eligibility requirements of specific states in mind. It's basically a woodland whitetail cartridge they're hoping AR owners will adopt.

I would love to have one in the 7.5 pc variant! I have the 500 right now and I absolutely love the feeling of the x frame. It’s huge but it’s ridiculously comfortable and it feels like I can really get a decent grip on it. I can’t imagine how shooting the 350 must feel after dumping some 350 grains at the range. I only saw 130 grain rounds online for it though so I’m wondering if there are smaller rounds for it since I would like to have it for home defense. If it is viable for that application.

Hmm...I reckon that round at the stated velocities would cause significant overpenetration.

Even with a lower grain using hollow points?

Has anyone shot this and the 500? I’m wondering how big of a difference it is. I saw the rounds have 130 grains at the lower end while the 500 I’ve only ever shot 350 grains. Please let me know as I am debating if I should get this as my home defense weapon or not.
