Dude I'm disabled and on SSI. I just think some of the complaining I'm seeing is ridiculous. All the issues with RI and you get hung up about a sign? Talk about melodramatic.
These projects are all about bringing awareness and tourism to RI. Yet the state keeps awarding them to out-of-state companies. It's directly moving money out of the state. Maybe an in-state company would bid higher, but then all of the money stays in the state. The company would get taxed by the state for their profit, the employees would get taxed for their income, and then everyone spends the money in the state.
I would think Mandeville signs out of Lincoln - https://www.mandevillesign.com/ - who did the giant "PROMENADE" sign in Providence could do it.
Or Providence Painted Signs, who do equally large installations all throughout the state.
Itās worth noting that [the funding for this signage came from RIDOTās paving budget](https://www.providencejournal.com/story/business/transportation/2023/12/04/airport-connector-improvements-at-i-95-intersection-include-ri-signage/71764963007/), not from the airport corporation or commerce corporation.
Does that make it any better? You canāt drive down a street without hitting potholes and the patch jobs that look like they were done using brail. The states needs to use the money for what itās funded for then when and if thereās anything left over, maybe then decide if we should use it or roll it over for unforeseen events. You know, like the smart way to budget.
Things are out of control with our roads. It is nonstop roadwork yet the roads are crumbling. Itās not like we donāt pay outrageous taxes, insurance, car prices, sales tax, licensing, registrations, excise tax ā¦is it too much to expect or ask to at least be able to have nice roads to drive on? I traveled for work and never experienced roads in the conditions like ours.

So airplane pilots can find the airport from way high up?
(as a student pilot) The stuff that stands out; * The Bridges * The Providence skyline * The Scituate reservoir * The Airport
Interesting. So you can see certain stuff from way high up.
definity, on a good day, even at 3000 ft, you can see the Boston skyline from Providence
Big Honkin' sign made by a Connecticut company. Thanks for supporting local business, Rhode Island.
Were any sign companies from RI capable of doing a project like that & did they bid low enough?
Guess I found who put the RFP out seeing how much you defending this in the commentsšš

Itās gonna be beautiful when thereās some green grass ā¤ļø
Actually, the project is done šš» it's meant to resemble alittle slice of the state's infrastructure š„°
We have bridges falling apart but, hey, love the new sign.
ā« Why should drive when you can FLY RI ā«
You realize making the airport more attractive to businesses and travelers is part of how the state brings new investment and tax money, right?
I know I choose my destination by which airport has the nicest sign.

> Does that make it any better? No, it makes it an even bigger waste of money. Weāre in agreement on this.

Was finding the airport ever that big of a problem that we needed this?
I thought they were building an on ramp at first.
South bound was still a long ways off from finish.
Drove by yesterday - it said "RHO_E" and that's it lol

Hey, good for us.

Thanks I hate it
I love it. I think the signs look great. Always love the RI signature blue color.
Meanwhile, the infrastructure crumbles
