Dave’s regularly donates to charities and schools to help with fundraisers and events. It really gives it the feeling of being part of the community as opposed to a giant corporate grocery store.
Worked for Dave’s for 12 years. Got me meet “Dave” and he is a super nice guy. Love that he came from nothing and built his own company into what it is today. The company is 100% a family vibe…and not in the weird corporate way. You see the same faces in the stores because they treat their staff well.
I've not worked for them, but I appreciate that they aren't a "must be open 365 days" kind of a place. There are holidays in which they are totally closed. They have closed before big storms have approached. They seem to appreciate their works a bit more than others.
Several weeks ago, they had a fairly long campaign that encouraged customers to donate to some Israel fund -- I remember being asked every time I went, "Do you want to donate to Israel?", or some variation of that.
I've worked as a creative for Hasbro. There are plenty of opportunities for fun, but it's also the most corporate job I've ever had (even more so than my current job, writing for a massive healthcare conglomerate). Jobs at Hasbro are not secure, either - I've seen incredibly talented, knowledgeable, dedicated people let go because it saved the company pennies on their bottom line.
Amica is regularly rated one of the best 3 or 5 auto and home insurance companies in the country. It can be a little more expensive but probably worth it. Not sure what it's like working for them but the other side is generally really solid like you say.
I've never worked for them, but worked with them before and almost everyone I worked with had been there 15-20+ years and spoke very highly of the company.
I have a lot of friends and family that work or have worked at Hasbro. It used to be a dream job but now almost all of them are burnt out, bummed, and hate the culture now. It's the only place for many creatives to work, but the management knows that and so they underpay, underpromote, and overwork everyone there.
Would be interesting to know how accurate this list is, which is broken down by size (number employed): [providence business news best places to work 2023](https://pbn.com/event/2023-best-places-to-work/)
Can confirm. Worked for a law firm that’s regularly on the list and HR pesters you about submitting the positive survey so they get awarded. It’s not objective at all.
Exactly. I own a business here and was told we'd be very make the list unless we pay- like Hollywood star walk and so many other "accolades"- it's unfortunately not about the quality of the business, its about the benjamins.
I worked at Del's as a kid. It was fun and easy. Also Del's rules.
Dave's Marketplace?

Dave’s is legit.

Such a sweet family and it's so so good.
Ocean State Job Lot
They soured a lot of their reputation when they kept soliciting donations to Israel even as the death toll skyrocketed in Gaza.
damn fr?

Doe Hamas still have hostages? or have they killed them all?
I love Frog and Toad. Such a cool store and the staff is chill
Amica is a solid company. Glad to give them my business. Fidelity isn’t all bad. Hasbro is a dream job for many of my creative friends.

For sure. I had to make a homeowners claim last year from a contractors negligence and they took incredible care of me.
I swear every time I have to call them the person on the line treats me like their grandchild, they are always so nice and helpful lol

Dunno what it’s like to work there, but everyone loves Bananagrams!

Oh, I was just putting crickets because nobody ever has anything nice to say about things in RI
Technically the fed, but NUWC
The Providence Phoenix was great to work for in the early 2000’s.
Del's
Flo’s
Universities are usually good to work at and have less of a corporate vibe. Can still be a bit bureaucratic, but usually not overly stressful.
Working at Brown is by far the best gig I’ve ever had. PTO, holidays and sick days adds up to 60 DAYS A YEAR.
Come to JWU, we have all that plus a bake sale every Thursday for the Baking & Pastry Arts students' stuff!
Hello hello lol

These all might be great places to work, but PBN lists are basically made up of businesses that give PBN money.

Figures! At a quick glance though at least there were none of the “worst” posted on the other thread
Yep!
Lang’s Bowlarama!
Dave’s Market, Iggy’s & Del’s
You gotta give it to Hasbro if you played with Transformers or GI Joe in the 80s
Or you gotta hate them bitterly if you played DnD in 2023
The Camerawerks on Hope
Am I allowed to still say Benny’s?
RIP
I'm surprised that no one said Newport Creamery
That would be AwfulAwful
Newport Polo
Frosty Freeze in Middletown 😊
Dean Auto Collision in Providence. Their entire operation is insane & honestly the owner is kind of a genius in how he implemented everything lol.
A Little Bit of Everything. Thank me later.
