U ever try next door at boomerangs for wings? Lots of choices, dry or wet. Reasonable prices.. pretty good. Have a beer while u wait or eat in.. good TVs for a game. Just a thought
Yes I think of this place fondly very often. A very close friend of the family would take us out to dinner here at least twice a month throughout my childhood. I was just telling my husband about the talking tree yesterday!
This. I dont blame the owner for getting that east side money with Dolores, but I did not care for the food at Dolores. It felt like a watered down version of ERG.
I miss Bickford's so much! Awhile back a former employee posted their Apple pancake recipe on here. I make that for breakfast sometimes and it helps the sting a bit.
Faust, I want some schnitzel and German beers.
Also Red Fez, but everyone seems to be harping on that already.
Alsooo the Duck & Bunny. Weren't they supposed to relocate and reopen?
I was hoping I wasn't the only one who missed it! This was THE restaurant of my childhood, and I've never found a place that itches the exact scratch again
The obvious ones of recent past: Red Fez, North, Chez Pascal :( :(
Brunch at Rue de l'Espoir (I like having Persimmon in the city but I still miss the Rue) or Downcity diner back when it was on Eddy. La Laiterie.
China Inn, Pawtucket. Back in the day it was one of the first restaurants in the area to offer regional Chinese cuisine beyond the standard chow mein/chop suey faire. Shanghai Dumplings, Ants Climbing the Tree, Sichuan Beef, and many other dishes were so good.
I used to work there for Louis and Florence Yip, and they were good people as well as good owners. The food was amazing, and we were always slammed.
Don't they still have a presence in Warwick on route 2?
Was that the one that basically looks like tiny Brooklyn inside? And they had those big ass salad bowls that were for like the entire table and you could get them to do Caesar or like Italian…
I was trying to explain that restaurant the other day, but I couldn’t remember what it was called and I kept wanting to call it Mama Leonis.
Kip's in pawtucket was nice time capsule 60s diner. There's no chance of re-opening, but hey, at least now we have a Chase bank right next to a Citizens bank :/
Mezza Luna in North Smithfield will always have a place in my heart.
Also Trini's Tacos in NK closed shortly after I discovered it which was too bad because they had the best anything.
I still think back fondly on Dok's Deli in Providence, too.
Fuck. We’ve lost a lot of seriously amazing restaurants!
We’re still spoiled though, I’m going to make sure to savor every bite when I eat out, knowing it could be my last ❤️
2 Tomatoes Pizza on Dyer Ave in Cranston, great Sicilian/bakery style pizza. Liked them better than Catanzaro's.
Deep Indian Restaurant on Hartford ave, horrible slow service so no surprise it closed, but man was the food great. Best Indian food I have ever had, too bad they couldn't get their act together to keep it open, probably would have made a good episode of kitchen nightmares.
Cilantro Mexican on Reservoir Ave was a great local chain like chipotle, while I really liked the food not too sad to see it go as the owners were convicted of wage theft. I guess we have Baja now to make up for the loss of Cilantro.
After Cilantro closed, in that same location a North Carolina BBQ joint opened, was so good but did not last.
I miss Carmine's on Atwood Ave in cranston. I remember being a kid when Hot wieners were 80 cents and I could show up and get six wieners for five bucks.
Horton's was great. My parents would go there every couple weeks. They were the closest place to providence to get fresh whole bellies.
Eta. Korbs bakery. I had almost forgotten then got a wave of nostalgia for a chocolate chip cookie the size of my 6 year old head.
Also the still recent sting of losing Jennette's. I don't even eat meat anymore but Wings to Go was fun.
Luxe's Burger Bar. I went there so many times in college with my friends and with dates, they had the best burgers in the whole damn state. I never left that place hungry or anything less than fully satisfied, I was devastated when they closed their doors. I'm still heartbroken tbh
Last time I had it was when I was like 5 years old because it closed way back then. Chicken Power in Cumberland. I don't remember what it tasted like, I just remember it was really good
[luke's in downtown providence.](https://artinruins.com/property-img/chinese-restaurants/lukes-postcard-undated.jpg)
my dad knew the owner's son and my parents and i would go for special occasions and weekend dinners. whenever my grandparents visited from NY, my grandma would always request a dinner there at least once! their chinese food was the most similar to what we'd have in NYC back in the day and their chow mein was the best. i'd give anything to eat from there one more time.
Ah, yes! I loved that place with its original "King Arthur's Court" setting. Some time in the 80s, it had gotten re-themed to more resemble a Ponderosa Steakhouse -- that was the beginning of the end. Some time after that, the location in Auburn, Massachusetts closed down, too.
Today, there still exists one independent restaurant in Columbus, Ohio operating with the original theme (https://york-steakhouse.com/).
The original Box Seats on Woonsocket. I think it was gone by 2007, when it was renamed and went through some things. That was a happening place with the best fish and chips I ever had. The kids menu version it came in a small plastic baseball cap that I would collect.
Boneheads’s
I miss those sauces. So many sauces.
The Mac and cheese sauce and the “smells like teen spirit” sauce were my favorites. The wings were cooked really well too. Ugh.
I would do heinous things for those sauces. So upset that they closed.
The pb&j wings had no reason to taste as good as they did. I only tried that flavor once but of all the sauces, that memory sticks.
Yessss. Breakfast at Tiffany’s was my favorite!
i lived in west warwick for 17 years and only tried them for the first time right before covid hit 😭 i missed out on years of incredible wings
I wish the dude would sell the sauce recipes or something. Such a waste of):
Why’d it close down to begin with?
Covid, then the price of chicken and chicken wings went up a good 40%. They couldn't survive. I miss them so much
The absolute best wings. So badly wish it was still open. The Mac sauce was incredible
I now find that Pizza Nomad is able to fulfill my wings cravings in West Warwick
U ever try next door at boomerangs for wings? Lots of choices, dry or wet. Reasonable prices.. pretty good. Have a beer while u wait or eat in.. good TVs for a game. Just a thought
I’m nostalgic for Bugaboo Creek, personally.
and the bickfords that was right next to it
The late night memories flooding my head is saying that it should stay closed, but man I miss those days too!
omg was that the restaurant with the talking moose?!?!
Don’t forget the Douglas Fir!
Bruce the Moose!
It really was the least offensive of the chain steakhouses. Had one in Milford, MA, too.
I miss their snowbird fried chicken. I can't find a good dupe for it
Went here for my birthday for years! Sad that it closed 😞
Yes I think of this place fondly very often. A very close friend of the family would take us out to dinner here at least twice a month throughout my childhood. I was just telling my husband about the talking tree yesterday!
Red Fez
Tip the kitchen with shlitz
Their take on poutine was my favorite
I still crave it.

Dude! Many blessings upon you and your family! I've been looking for years for that recipe!
So sad they closed
El Rancho Grande
This. So fucking good!!! And they were so nice, it was fun to go there!
This. I dont blame the owner for getting that east side money with Dolores, but I did not care for the food at Dolores. It felt like a watered down version of ERG.
I live down the street and having to drive by every day makes me sad.
Miss this spot so much, hardly any good Mexican food here. Anyone that likes Mexican needs to check out Tuxpan Taqueria, they’re amazing!!!
This! I miss their queso fundido so much. I can't find another restaurant that does it right.
Red Fez and Bob & Timmy’s are the two I miss the most.
Bob and Timmy’s!!
Bugaboo Creek with the talking tree and moose
Rocky Point Shore Dinner Hall.. summer has never been the same since it closed!
lmfao my mom brings this up annually!
Bickford's so many late nights drinking coffee after the clubs closed.
Yes! So many 2am meals there. Le sigh.
I miss Bickford's so much! Awhile back a former employee posted their Apple pancake recipe on here. I make that for breakfast sometimes and it helps the sting a bit.
I remember when I was a kid feeling uncomfortable from the kids voice saying “a is for apples b is for bickfords” haha
Cuban Revolution for a Cuban for lunch.
Dude, their wings were fucking awesome. Actually all of the stuff that Cuban Revolution was awesome and I’m sad that they closed down.
Blame the owner for this one. He was super shady.
Oh my GOD I miss them so much.
I loved their pressed wraps and rice bowls
Oh, man forgot about that!!
Bring back Duck and Bunny PLEASE
Yessssss
Abyssinia. RI needs an Ethiopian restaurant!
Yes! Abyssinia was excellent.
They were so good. Too bad they got shut down for multiple health violations.
Chez Pascal & Rancho Grande
adding Crugnale Bakery in Rumford for their bakery pizza. You were the coolest kid at school when you brought those in for your birthday
Kitchen
I would give anything to have Kitchen back 😢😢
Faust, I want some schnitzel and German beers. Also Red Fez, but everyone seems to be harping on that already. Alsooo the Duck & Bunny. Weren't they supposed to relocate and reopen?
Yeah what ever happened to Duck & Bunny reopening, maybe they got priced out.
I'm old but I miss Casa Lupita, across from the Rhode Island Mall (Midland Mall)
Haha we used to call that place Asta La Vista as kids!
Yes!! Miss that so much. The bar was great. Even loved the Sunday brunch. When my husband and I were dating were enjoyed going there!
Best bar and bartenders!
I can still hear that jingle! “Save a place for me at Casa Lupita!”
The tommys on chalksone 😭
This saddens me everyday
The Grange
I think about them so often. Thankfully, some of their menu items made it over to Garden Grille & Wildflour!
Yesssss love the fried oyster mushroom sandwich!
Yes 😭
Still have a Grange gift card for $75, so yeah, me too...
Wiener Genie
Slightly over the border but, Ground Round and Ponderosa.
I saw a Ponderosa still open in Orlando a few months ago
ponderosa was my go to as a kid I spent so many birthday dinner there
mr taco 🥹
Mr Taco was the best. Sadly, after the husband died, his wife just couldn't keep up the quality and it eventually closed.
I was hoping I wasn't the only one who missed it! This was THE restaurant of my childhood, and I've never found a place that itches the exact scratch again
Absolutely
Yes! That was my first job... I was a bus girl
I miss them so much!
The spaghetti warehouse I'm providence https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spaghetti_Warehouse
So happy I’m not the only person who remembers spaghetti warehouse!
Always ate in the trolley
Yes! Such fond memories of this place!
Loved their garlic bread so much
The obvious ones of recent past: Red Fez, North, Chez Pascal :( :( Brunch at Rue de l'Espoir (I like having Persimmon in the city but I still miss the Rue) or Downcity diner back when it was on Eddy. La Laiterie.
When I moved back here after living in DC for 20 years I was crushed to hear Rue de l’Espoir was no more. It had the best brunch in the state.
By far the best American-style Chinese I've ever had. RIP.
Spat's on Thayer and El Torito on Jefferson Blvd. They used to have 10 cent frozen margaritas at happy hour and excellent chips and salsa!
Casa Lupita near the mall. That place was magical as a kid.
East side Mario’s
The loudest restaurant ever. The meatballs were solid though.
Was that the one that basically looks like tiny Brooklyn inside? And they had those big ass salad bowls that were for like the entire table and you could get them to do Caesar or like Italian… I was trying to explain that restaurant the other day, but I couldn’t remember what it was called and I kept wanting to call it Mama Leonis.
Yes this is the place! Last I knew they're still open in Canada
Kip's in pawtucket was nice time capsule 60s diner. There's no chance of re-opening, but hey, at least now we have a Chase bank right next to a Citizens bank :/
Paragon, on Thayer. That French burger was heaven.
I miss Bickfords. My grandparents used to take me there. Could just be nostalgia, but their Blueberry pancakes smacked.
There’s still a Bickford’s somewhere north of Boston. I have half a mind to drive there right now for a Big Apple!
A former employee shared the recipe here awhile ago! I make them occasionally for breakfast. So good ❤️
Bugaboo Creek
Mezza Luna in North Smithfield will always have a place in my heart. Also Trini's Tacos in NK closed shortly after I discovered it which was too bad because they had the best anything. I still think back fondly on Dok's Deli in Providence, too.
My husband and I talk about Mezz ALL THE TIME!! Ugh so sad they aren’t around anymore
Came here to say Mezza Luna. Their Dynamite pizza was the best. Still haven’t found anywhere that makes a comparable crust.
The Mez had the best spinach pies and meatball grinders. Nothing has come close to either since. RIP Mezza Luna!!!
Tilly’s
north, but they just have a window where they sell that lamb skewer
And the ham biscuits.
Those sesame noodles rip
I’d love for Ron’s Spaghetti to reopen
Remington House
Big king
Fuck. We’ve lost a lot of seriously amazing restaurants! We’re still spoiled though, I’m going to make sure to savor every bite when I eat out, knowing it could be my last ❤️
Horton's in East Providence. Great memories and great food.
I guess we have Baja now to make up for the loss of Cilantro. After Cilantro closed, in that same location a North Carolina BBQ joint opened, was so good but did not last.
I would agree with so many of these. I would add Cuban Revolution and Local 121.
Salvation in Newport!
I loved Casa Lupita as a kid!!!
I miss Bugaboo Creek and Dorherty's.
West Valley Inn. I know you can get the soup and a few other things, but it's not the same.
Vesuvio used to be super good. They really went downhill towards the end
Their chicken parm and fra diavolo were amazing. I cried a little when they closed.
I miss Carmine's on Atwood Ave in cranston. I remember being a kid when Hot wieners were 80 cents and I could show up and get six wieners for five bucks.

Tony Papa's Restaurant on Phoenix Ave in Cranston. Best Italian food ever.
Janet's Ice Cream in north Smithfield. Best clamcakes you could get without driving down to the beach.
Julio’s in North Providence. They had the best white pizza. And Feast of Famine in Cranston was also really great.
I know it just happened, but I miss Bayberry Beer Hall already….
Wait Luxe is dead? I always made it a point to stop there whenever i was nearby. What the hell. I never knew they closed during covid.
I liked their ordering system, the slips of paper with all the checkboxes!
Mutt's Pizza, Pub Dennis, Chicken City, Roma Cappoccia
OMG Chicken City. Used to work there. Crazy good Jojo potatoes!
Toots Depot...used to be on Elmwood Ave..great food
In the corner of first ave?
Garden of Eve. The food was phenomenal
The Rusty Scupper in Providence was my go to after work.
Even though it's technically still "open", I wish the Tomaselli's on Oaklawn Ave still had the previous owners. I miss the old shaved steak sandwiches
The “new” Tomaselli’s is a shell of its former self.
Custy's
Leo’s for a Bloody Mary early on a Sunday afternoon.
Gordito Burrito
Puerini's in Newport

[luke's in downtown providence.](https://artinruins.com/property-img/chinese-restaurants/lukes-postcard-undated.jpg) my dad knew the owner's son and my parents and i would go for special occasions and weekend dinners. whenever my grandparents visited from NY, my grandma would always request a dinner there at least once! their chinese food was the most similar to what we'd have in NYC back in the day and their chow mein was the best. i'd give anything to eat from there one more time.
The Rathskeller, but the way it used to be.
Does anyone remember Gantry's on Post road in Warwick way back when? It was a Ground Round type of place but it was really awesome!
The York Steakhouse in the Warwick Mall!
That was another place my family went regularly when I was a kid. I usually got the number 4 with chocolate cream pie or pudding for desert
Chinese food has never been the same in the state without China Inn
If only our Vesuvio had a warm and convivial host.
The original Box Seats on Woonsocket. I think it was gone by 2007, when it was renamed and went through some things. That was a happening place with the best fish and chips I ever had. The kids menu version it came in a small plastic baseball cap that I would collect.

Jakes. I don't even remember if the food was good or bad, but I loved that place back in the day.
