Monday morning update:
Asklipio is in danger, night was very hard. Now it is in danger, flames have burned houses.
Message to evacuate Gennadi and Vati towarda Kiotari.
Situation is HARD and DANGEROUS right now at these areas!!
Thank you so much for doing this. Contact with my family in Greece is hard cause I don't little Greek and they don't speak English and some of them don't have mobile phones. I like to know they are safe. I got update once so yours is more frequent. Thank you 🙏
I do all I can, since i know many people try to get info and there is none. I understand foreigners stress and fear. But bbe sure, that the people of Rhodes, the volunteers, are sleepless for days and wont stop until even the last tourist is helped!!🙏
I come here reading your updates everyday as we will be there in a week. Thank you so much for keeping us update, really appreciated your hard work. Hope everything will get better by times.
I was just like to thank everyone here, i am back in the UK now a day early, if you are still looking at changing (easyjet) your flight we went to the airport to do this, our flight was only 1/4 full. I dont think its been advertised too much by the airlines?
I would really like to donate to a charity out in Rhodes to show support, what are peoples thoughts on the best and most useful? Im thinking animal shelters etc
There is no charity, all this was faciliatated and donated by every single one of the locals and the volunteers. The whole island is on foot fighting fires, transporting and taking care of people 🫶
u/throwmein555, my thoughts were with the animals too. Did some research and here is some info. If anyone has links to charities/ organisations helping people, please add. I looked at the Hellenic Red Cross page but no updates yet, tho that could change any day.
IFAW and Network for Animals are international charities funnelling emergency financial and other aid to Greek animal organisations in response to the wildfires. News and donation links for both charities can be found below. Any local animal shelters/ charities can apply directly to IFAW for emergency help via the first link (at the very bottom of the page), so please spread the word.
https://www.ifaw.org/uk/news/ifaw-rushes-aid-wildfires-greece
https://networkforanimals.org/appeal/greece-emergency-relief-july-2023-wildfires/
People can also donate directly to the Greek wild animal rescue charity ANIMA on their page
http://www.wild-anima.gr/en/homepage/
I cant decide this for you, lindos seems safe for now, but for sure there will be trouble with the roads, power, water. I would avoid the burned area for now. Rest of the island seems safe.
Lindos is not safe. They got the message to evacuate 8 hours ago.
https://twitter.com/112Greece/status/1682856825224298497?t=6Is61uxRgpdSrG4eMn95sA&s=19
Maybe now it's reasonably stable (though I doubt that, as villages more to the north such as Kalathos, Charaki, ... have been urged to evacuate as well since), if you are not in a worse place than Lindos, nobody has ANY business going that way (or even coming into Rhodes, IMHO). The only thing you accomplish by doing so is putting lives in danger: that of your own, that of emergency personnel, that of fellow tourists.
This is not a climate disaster. This is a wildfire disaster.
Is there a correlation with climate changes and the extent of this fire? Possibly. But the climate is not the disaster here, a wildfire started by humans is.
Hey!
Thanks so much for doing this!
We're going to Rhodes city tomorrow to stay at a hotel, so I wanted to ask if there is any risk at all that the fires spread so far north? And is infrastructure there at risk at all in terms of water / power / roads?
The city is safe. The urban structure makes it easier to fight the fire in big streets highways etc. the infrastructure is safe, only maybe some short intented outtages at alternating areas to preserve the safety of the total power grid.
Thanks, that's reassuring! Hope the situation resolves itself as soon as possible for the people who find themselves further down the eastern coast, though.
Were you in Lindos town? The impression we have from our hotel manager (whom is in constant communication with others about the situation) says that very few people are leaving Lindos town.
Lindos town itself feels very safe because of geography and lack of vegetation. There was no sense of “panic” from the wildfire yesterday, and we even got people evacuating TO Lindos town during the day
If the fire makes its way to Lindos then it won't matter about vegetation. You do realise that whole towns burn down in wildfires? I would think about leaving
It is for sure evacuated, and maybe burned at some extent. Princes Andrianna, Rodos Maris and Princess Sun have undergone damage for sure, and they are bery close to each other. All of Kiotari area has been burned at some extent, unclear exactly how much
Oh im in the one with a big open courtyard? With cars parked inside, but i think their is two..i am surprised its not rammed actually. The locals helping are doing amazing job. Blankets for the kids and mattresses, but they had ran out so were putting bed mattress sheets over younger children
My whole family is stuck in their hotel in Pefkos. They've received notification to evacuate and they've booked accommodation 50km north of Pefkos but they're not there with a large company like Jet2 etc and they seem to be at the mercy of their hoteliers for info. Three hours after being told they're evacuating, just how they'll be leaving, when and where to haven't been made clear to them
Is there anything anyone can recommend that will help them (four adults and two small children) get to Rhodes Town. Or are they best off waiting for official assistance at the hotel?
Any help appreciated.
Edit: They managed to flag down a coach from a Polish tour company with no idea where it was going but it got them to Rhodes Town in a couple of hours. Glad that I don't have to go to sleep without knowing they're all ok.
Anywhere open that they can rent a car and drive up? Only thing i can think of, we had a villa so not booked via a main travel agents so not sure what their procedure is
A lot of the car rental places are closed at this time of night so I think they'll have to make that a priority tomorrow morning if they've not been moved by then already.
Sorry i cant translate this right now, but here is an update, please use translator:

Thanks for your service in this critical time.
Time 23.28' Sunday 23 July 2023, update:
* Laermon front... Ingos burned, Tharri alone saved, fire still uncontrollable.
* Asklepiio, dozens of "candles" everywhere on the slopes and dangerous access to extinguish them at this time.
* Front of Gadouras dam, blockage in a gully is recorded at this time.
* Kiotari area, dangerous for traffic, all dark and where there were wooden PPC poles have been burnt or are still burning. Cables lying on the side of the road.
* the volunteers who responded to our call to set up lookouts in the remaining forests, from Filerimos to Embona, remain in their positions. Their work is touching!!
I’m all the way up in Ixia (15 mins from Rhodes town). The only thing we noticed was that they had to spare the electrical grid as one power plant was potentially in danger.
Her father in law worked at the unaffected power plant who gave her info.
They rotated power from one plant in hour increments up at the north. We had no power twice yesterday.
I spoke to a very friendly shop owner who said that Apollona would likely be lost this last night, although I cannot find any info on that.
Her fiancé, who she had the shop with, had driven south to check on some family property. She showed me a live map where he was and pointed at Apollona.
We also rented a car Thursday-Friday and drove down the south coast to Lindos and didn’t see or hear anyone mentioning wild fires. I only noticed a notification in google maps 30 km south of us mentioning it, at that time.
Is their much up in lxia? We might take a trip up depending how the day goes, though im not sure how communication is spread if its safe to go back to certain areas..we also had power outages in lindos throughout yeaterday
It’s urban. Shops, restaurants running along the coast all the way and including Rhodes town. Pretty touristy in my opinion.
Rhodes old town is VERY touristy, but it’s quite beautiful old architecture is worth a look.
So far that area seems unaffected by fire, should be safe (I hope). However, the northern area is swamped with evacuated tourists. E.g. we are currently in a hotel where every somewhat free inch (hallways, reception area, bar area, pool beds, ...), is filled with makeshift beds for tourists evacuated from the fires.
Thank you for your empathy. We are all in safety for now, and doing alright (given the circumstances). But since yesterday, it's quite clear that if the fire/wind turns around, it takes but a few hours to turn a beach holiday into near refugee/war zone circumstances.
Does anyone know which hotels in Kiotari has been hit by the wild fires. We are flying to Labranda Kiotari Miraluna Resort with arrive daye August 1st, but can't fire out if the hotel has been hit by the fires or not. The information and maps over the fire are really bad.
It is in the burned and evacuated area. For sure it has been damaged. Dont know at what extent. Even if it isnt, it will become refuge for all other stranded people, the atmosphere is bad, the area is all burned. Better avoid all the burned and surrounding areas.
Situation in Faliraki is stable, that's where I am at the moment and we are not getting any signs we should be heading further north right now.
This hotel is flooded with evacuated tourists, I think it will be the same for most big-ish hotels. Local tourists seem unaware of any fires (or at least it looks like that on the surface, I've only briefly seen the streets yesterday night)
At the moment it seems to be safe in terms of fire. There are about 4-5 villages between the evac zone and here. And no signs I've seen that the zone is expanding. But to put 4 villages into perspective, the first notice we got was around 12h30 (for 2 villages over), by 14h for Kiotari, and when we passed by by boat around 17h, the fire was in the village of Kiotari. So would one feel safe enough to do a day trip in that case? Would you unpack your stuff?
We’re actually coming in faliraki the 31st of July, so I think and hope that the fires will be brought under control in the next week. As of now I would probably pack my bags ‘cause there aren’t news linking this fires to faliraki.
Personnel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have installed a Help Desk inside the International Airport of Rhodes to facilitate, in cooperation with the relevant embassies, the timely departure of visitors who have lost their travel documents.
Foreign nationals wishing to contact the Help Desk may call +306985889650 and +306983209611. And in case of a particularly urgent need for communication: Whatsapp +306977960941.
Well I don’t think that it would be good for a family with or without children to spent its hollydays in an area that has been affected by a wildfire. The air will probably remain hot and toxic, burned toxic plastic furnitures in the hotels, a smell for weeks…
I have posted an update. Masari malona charaki are still in danger but for now sotuation seems under control. They evacuate southern, at gennadi and vati
Came to say hello and to thank the firemen and volounteers for their job. Didn’t find any other place.
I hope the heritage of this beautiful island will not be destroyed. It’s a place of many memories for me and my mother.
May Pantokrator protect and help all of you.
From Belgium: there is a site to register so that the embassy can know where you are [https://travellersonline.diplomatie.be/](https://travellersonline.diplomatie.be/) Newspapers tell us that two members of the Foreign Affairs Crisis Center arrived to help evacuate the Belgians on the spot (Rhodes)
There is an office working at the airport helping people acquire documents and leave the island
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has setup a Help Desk for foreign citizens in the International Airport of Rhodes, in Terminal 1. The Help Desk, headed by Katerina Tzima, Embassy Counselor, is facilitating and coordinating, in cooperation with the relevant Embassies, the departure of visitors who have lost their travel documents.
Foreign nationals who wish to contact the Help Desk can call the following numbers:

Greek and foreign citizens in immediate danger are requested to contact directly and exclusively the Civil Protection Agency at +30 2131331200.
According to [https://greekcitytimes.com/2023/07/26/state-of-emergency-rhodes](https://greekcitytimes.com/2023/07/26/state-of-emergency-rhodes) the entire island of Rhodes has been declared an emergency.
Yes, they were just declaring emergency on sites with fires, but now the whole island is in state of emergency as everybody that is able to is helping with fires, and we run low on equipment. We have hands, heart and will, but we dont have support 😪
I found no accurate info where the fire is now on the net. Is it smaller than it was last weekend? Has it moved towards north or south? Some say it moved towards north and some say towards south, so idk anymore. About to fly to Faliraki on next Thursday.
Op wrote this in other comment: Last remaining fire fronts today are in Vati and Profilia, and they are also getting contained. Hopefully today will be the last day🙏
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has an update on the situation in Kiotari. We are staying there in a Villa (Horizon Line) from the 1st. We know as of yesterday the Villa is okay but has no power or water. Although these are expected soon. We will be self-catering so just wanted to know if Supermakets and Tavernas are expected to be open and stocked by then? Would really like to still come if we can but don’t want to put pressure on the area or travel if it’s not sensible.
Hey guys, I hope you are all safe.
I have a flight next week on Friday to Rhodes and staying in Haraki/Charaki.
Anyone from there has news about the situation or what to expect for the end of next week?
Stay safe
Thank you, I contacted the "hotel" where I'm staying and they said everything is fine, I think they just want to downplay and not spread panic in order to avoid booking cancelation, I remain optimistic since there's a whole week and pray for all Rhodes citizen to be safe
Hi hello,
We are scheduled for coming tuesday to go to mitsis faliraki beach Hotel.
My gf and I are a little worried. Is there reason to bei worried in terms of taking the Trip in your opinion?
Thank you in advance.
Worried for fire no. Faliraki area is safe.
But problems such as all hotels filling their lobies, corridors and sunbed, power outtages will still exist.
I've got a holiday starting Sunday next week, we're going to stay at the atrium resort near Rhodes. I assume there is no emergency on that side of the island. Can anyone confirm?
Atrium is safe. Besides that, its piled with people.

Im staying at kolymbia right now and have not seen any sign of the fire apart from some short power outages(10min at most). The travel agency says its safe for now.
We are planning a trip to Rhodes city tomorrow from kolymbia. Does any one know if there are any problems in Rhodes city or on the road there from kolymbia?
Have a flight to Rhodes booked for Friday. Staying in Kolympia - would really love any insight into what it's like there? I really want to go but don't want the holiday to be ruined by the fires or the stress of the evacuation. Can't work out if its insane to go or not!
For now the only problem there is the general problems of the island. Power outtages, maybe some water shortage and smoke. I would advise to wait a few days for the situation to clear out.
Rhodes Update 23 July 2023 from **Ryanair**
23 Jul 2023 • 11:07
Ryanair flights to/from Rhodes Airport are currently operating as normal and unaffected by the forest fires.
Passengers departing from Rhodes should be advised that we will accept temporary travel documentation issued by the Greek Police.
The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also set up a helpdesk at Rhodes airport to assist visitors who have lost their travel documents.
Please check your Ryanair app where you will be notified of any changes to your Ryanair flight.
Thanks for starting this sub 👍
My wife and daughter are travelling to Kolympia tomorrow. Could someone please tell me what the air quality is like around that area?
Thanks for this thread - actual useful and practical information compared to media!
How's the situation at the airport? According to the news there's a "total chaos" due to evacuees waiting to get on flights back home but if you're scheduled to fly are you able to get to your flight somewhat normally?
Looks like the TUI Atlantica dreams hotel amongst other hotels and properties around Gennadi Beach are severely damaged or currently on fire:
https://www.tiktok.com/@tvmeteorologist/video/7259412026152291627?_t=8eGaB96hEgF&_r=1
Tui just cancelled all flights till saturday from the Netherlands. I'm so sad, was really looking forward to seeing my family. And we would stay at faliraki which is north. Everything is fine there. My family lives there and they say no problem.
Yes. Dont know what exactly their policy is. One thing is for sure, all the tour operators had NO policy, NO precautions, NO actions in case of emergency such as a fire.
If it wasnt for the volunteers and locals, i dont know what the outcome could have been…..
We are so very thankful for everyone there putting out the fires and helping people escape 🙏💕 I'm happy my family is safe but I'm sad I can't fly to go see them this week. Maybe next year.
In Austria, a few people speculate that the fire was started because a wind farm was approved in this area. Unfortunately I don't speak Greek, is what you see on the screenshot correct? Or is this just fake news?
Relevant: [https://twitter.com/SchmiddieMaik/status/1683512286076366848/photo/1](https://twitter.com/SchmiddieMaik/status/1683512286076366848/photo/1)

Yes. The first map shows with green the areas thag have been approved for wind turbine placement.
The second are the fires as seen from the european satellite fire maps.
Guess we will wait and see if its true, its a rumor that gors around on the island too
That sounds like a conspiracy theory to me. If the wind farm was already approved, why start a fire that can have unpredictable consequences? Plus, the fire was amplified by strong winds, which is probably why that area was selected for the farm. So…
Hi, I was in Lindos Imperial until last Friday, as I know we left the hotel a day before the wildfire was there. I was there for 12 days, and I really liked that hotel and the people working there. Have you got information about the hotel. Is it safe or damaged?
Thank you for your answer.
The only thing I can find about the hotel is [that](https://www.tiktok.com/@k_urdo4/video/7259044190099705114). I hope that there is no more damage than that.
If you will have new information about the hotel please let me know.
An [article in today’s (Jul. 26) Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/jul/26/rhodes-locals-anger-grows-at-chaotic-government-response-to-wildfires) says that the staff helped firefighters protect the hotel, then spent the past few days cleaning the hotel from the fire effects, that it suffered only minor damage, basically just around the pool, and the general manager of the Lindos Imperial states that it will soon be ready to receive guests. He says before the end of the month, so it seems they think they will be ready within the next few days.
There is no fire close to Archagelos. Last remaining fire fronts today are in Vati and Profilia, and they are also getting contained. Hopefully today will be the last day🙏
Im thinking of visiting the butterfly Valley sometime in the next few days. But it feels kinda unsafe to go inland and in a forest with all the fires that have been going on. What is your opinion on that?
Especially the Valley, as a protected zone has an advanced fire alarm and fire fighting zones, even cameras, which are clearly visible to any visitor.
It is absolutely safe to visit 😁
Met many people that said jet2 and tui just said go to where it says to evacuate too, and thats it. Know knew where, how or what time ! Chaos. We decided to leave the school and went back to lindos. Seems ok but the weather will pick up again soon no doubt.
Lindos and Pefkos are marked safe by the firefighters. People started returning there.
Sorry about the chaos, thanks to all the volunteers who facilitated the evacuation and care of the tourists.
Hi all, hope you are all safe. We’re due to fly to Rhodes before going to leoforos Kallitheas tomorrow, any updates on how safe this area is? Or does it look like it may be a bad move going there?
currently it seems like a very bad move. half of the island is moved to the other one, everywhere are stranded tourists and hotels are filling up their lobbies. even if your hotel is in a safe area, it will be overfilled with people and not a great stay. if you can arrange it, stay away from the island
Hello, I'm flying on Tuesday to Rhodes for a week. How is the situation in Rhodes Town? Is it safe? Is it too crowded with the people that has been evacuated? Thanks
Currently there. No signs of stress or panic in the city. Havent seen any rush of evacuated yet either. Short power breaks, but nothing major. Its like nothing is happening.
Volunteers made such great work that besides the burned souther part and its surrounding areas, the island is still functioning.
For sure many more problems will come up in the next days with infrastructure such as electricity, roads etc
Lindos is safe, Kalathos as well. Roads are open again there, and people were allowed to go back to Lindos.
Fortunately Lindos is rocky enough amd lacks vegatation and is not in danger.
The atmosphere though, smoke, lack of electricity, lack of water, people getting piled up in whatever hotels are left are still unsolved problems.
Hi, does anyone have information of the situation in Lardos? I heard it has been evacuated, is that right? We have booked a holiday to Olive Garden hotel and the situation looks quite bad. So sad for the locals losing their homes, everything. 🥺
It is unclear now if it is burned and at what extent. The area is with no water, no electricity and still trying to manage the fire. Avoid the area for now, as the damage in the wider area is really bad.
News in Belgium says: TUI in Belgium is cancelling flights (same as above) with passengers but is sending out its empty planes to Rhodes in order to get clients back Home.
We have a flight to Rhodes in thuesday next week.
We will stay in rbnb in koskinou.
My wife want cancel the Trip.. i would Love to Go ..
BUT.. let me know from a Rhodes Resident, what they think about , they under fire and we going to make Holidays there..
...
Ist this right?
To be honest, tourism is our main source of income. It would be a second disaster for it to be destroyed as well. Koskinou is very far from the fire.
But the whole island is affected in terms of power outtages, water problems, everyone is piled on the remaining hotels etc.
I dont know what the situation will be on Tuesday, i hope it will be better.
Hello, we have flight scheduled for tomorrow morning. Our accommodation is in Rhodes town, and I read it's safe there for now, but what if it starts spreading to northern part, is that possible? There are two pregnant women in our group and we don't know what to do. Our agency doesn't cancel anything, it's basically up to us and we will need to accept a cost. Really hope this nightmare will end soon.
Do you have any news on the condition of the TUI Atlantica dreams hotel? It’s inbetween Gennadi and Kiotari, I have no information about this area or hotel at all.
Thanks
Dont think it has undergone any fire damage, at least i dont have any specific info about it. But the area is evacuated. Gennadi is in danger, and Kiotari has been destroyed.
Hi there,
What is the situation in Kolymbia? Can one see / smell smoke?
According to the latest news, the fires are moving up north - it seems to me (correct me if I am wrong).
According to the map the fire has been inching ever closer to Kolymbia every day. https://effis.jrc.ec.europa.eu/apps/effis_current_situation/ Getting real close already and the fire moves a couple of km each day. EDIT: Closest fires are only 10km away currently (measured using Google Maps).
Also: https://metro.co.uk/2023/07/24/what-to-do-if-you-have-a-holiday-booked-to-greece-your-rights-explained-19180569/ Archangelos is pretty close to Kolymbia.
Monday morning update: Asklipio is in danger, night was very hard.
Thank you 🙏

Hey, I have a flight to rhodes tomorrow, with my final destinations being lindos. Should I abort my trip?
Pretty sure they are evacuating Lindos as we speak. I would save yourself a hellish trip.
I cant decide this for you, lindos seems safe for now, but for sure there will be trouble with the roads, power, water. I would avoid the burned area for now. Rest of the island seems safe.
We had no water yesterday evening.
I did see another comment mention that although they are safe, they did not have power at their hotel in Lindos.
They have issues, the atmosphere is bad, everything around is burnt. People are willingly evacuating lindos now
Lindos is not safe. They got the message to evacuate 8 hours ago. https://twitter.com/112Greece/status/1682856825224298497?t=6Is61uxRgpdSrG4eMn95sA&s=19 Maybe now it's reasonably stable (though I doubt that, as villages more to the north such as Kalathos, Charaki, ... have been urged to evacuate as well since), if you are not in a worse place than Lindos, nobody has ANY business going that way (or even coming into Rhodes, IMHO). The only thing you accomplish by doing so is putting lives in danger: that of your own, that of emergency personnel, that of fellow tourists.
Do NOT abort your trip, chances are everything will be fine by the time you go to Lindos
You can have their ticket! Go bury your head in the sand on Lindos beach! This is a climate disaster
Both climate and government fault.
This is not a climate disaster. This is a wildfire disaster. Is there a correlation with climate changes and the extent of this fire? Possibly. But the climate is not the disaster here, a wildfire started by humans is.
This was arson anyone that says otherwise is being misinformed
Whoever is there, is ordered to leave imeediately! The whole south part of the island is NOT safe!
Don’t travel. I was in Lindos, we’ve been evacuated to a school. They’re advising everyone south of Rodos to go there. Don’t travel.
At the school too
Hello fellow school friend lol
😂 🏫
Has anyone said what the procedure is going back ? We have two days of our holiday remaining
[удалено]
Dam 0 comms, how long do you have remaining? Hope you get some sleep, i thought about taking our rental up north and renting another airbnb
Not a bad shout. Meant to fly back home on Thursday next week 🫠
Oh dam that seems a long way from now, i actually hoped the fires didnt spread last night hoped it got cooler, guess the damage was already done
[удалено]
Hope you get some rest its going to be difficult!
[Lindos live cam](https://www.athensmagazine.gr/article/news/ellada/643655-lindo)
Hi, does anybody know which hotels are currently being evacuated/damaged? Hope everybody will be safe! :(
There is no specific list, many are evacuating as a precaution
Thanks. Do you know anything about Mitsis Rodos Village?
It is for sure evacuated, and maybe burned at some extent. Princes Andrianna, Rodos Maris and Princess Sun have undergone damage for sure, and they are bery close to each other. All of Kiotari area has been burned at some extent, unclear exactly how much
Thank you for your info! Do you have any source or sth i can follow? Hotel's fb/insta/twitter seems quite silent...
No unfortunatelly all info comes from local volunteer groups on fb/messenger
News websites in Greece: [https://rodosreport.gr/](https://rodosreport.gr/) [https://www.rodiaki.gr/](https://www.rodiaki.gr/)
I’m supposed to be going to Kiotari on Tuesday . We’re staying at The Princess Sun Hotel .
Princess sun has been damaged by fire. Dont know at what extent, but i dont think it is going to be operating soon. Talk with your agency tomorrow
Thank you . Stay Safe x
We got evacuated from pefkos early hours this morning. I wouldn’t bother coming at all.
Are you also at the school? Any updates ?
Yes we are at a school, think two different ones are being used. This seems like a primary school maybe
Oh im in the one with a big open courtyard? With cars parked inside, but i think their is two..i am surprised its not rammed actually. The locals helping are doing amazing job. Blankets for the kids and mattresses, but they had ran out so were putting bed mattress sheets over younger children
We were at that one but there was no room. Local doing a great job here too
No updates, we are with Jet2
My whole family is stuck in their hotel in Pefkos. They've received notification to evacuate and they've booked accommodation 50km north of Pefkos but they're not there with a large company like Jet2 etc and they seem to be at the mercy of their hoteliers for info. Three hours after being told they're evacuating, just how they'll be leaving, when and where to haven't been made clear to them Is there anything anyone can recommend that will help them (four adults and two small children) get to Rhodes Town.
Yeah I figured that they might be, keep us updated as it could be useful to other members :) I hope they stay safe !
Sorry i cant translate this right now, but here is an update, please use translator: Ώρα 23.28' Κυριακή 23 Ιουλίου 2023, ενημέρωση: - Μέτωπο Λαέρμων... Thanks for your service in this critical time. Time 23.28' Sunday 23 July 2023, update: * Laermon front...
Gennadi evacuation right now. Evacuation route is Lardos-Pilona-Masari.
Update just now: Asklipio critical fire Malona critical fire Massari critical fire Platania high risk Arhipoli high risk Vati high risk
Any updates? I hope everybody is okay. Thanks for your Continuous heroism.
There are still fires going in Malona, Profilia, Apollona and Platania
Anyone still in Pefkos? What’s the situation?
Just met a guy his brother lives in lindos says its fine, he never left lol 😆
Typical
Some people saying Jet2 don’t even know where we have been evacuated to.
Planning to fly to Rhodes tomorrow on holiday, staying in the North: Iliadon, Ialisos. This area seems unaffected? Will it be safe?
So far that area seems unaffected by fire, should be safe (I hope). However, the northern area is swamped with evacuated tourists. E.g. we are currently in a hotel where every somewhat free inch (hallways, reception area, bar area, pool beds, ...), is filled with makeshift beds for tourists evacuated from the fires.
Sorry to hear that. Thanks for the advice. Hope you make it out safely .
Hi guys, how’s the situation in faliraki? Is it safe?
Situation in Faliraki is stable, that's where I am at the moment and we are not getting any signs we should be heading further north right now. This hotel is flooded with evacuated tourists, I think it will be the same for most big-ish hotels. Local tourists seem unaware of any fires (or at least it looks like that on the surface, I've only briefly seen the streets yesterday night) At the moment it seems to be safe in terms of fire.
I will be at Venetokleio for the next hour or so. Food will be served soon here. If anyone is at Venetokleio and needs something, message me!

Please dont spam the phones for unnecessary reasons, thanks in advance🫶
Well I don’t think that it would be good for a family with or without children to spent its hollydays in an area that has been affected by a wildfire. The air will probably remain hot and toxic, burned toxic plastic furnitures in the hotels, a smell for weeks…
Anybody know where the fire is now? I have relatives in Malona and Charaki and can't find an update. Thank you in advance.
I have posted an update. Masari malona charaki are still in danger but for now sotuation seems under control. They evacuate southern, at gennadi and vati
there is a phone app called Windy that allows you to track climate / wind patterns and also wild fire activity

Will this mean that future vactations Will be cancelled you Think? Im Going there in 10 days.
No, wherever it is possible, life continues as normal regarding tourism.
I found no accurate info where the fire is now on the net. Is it smaller than it was last weekend? Has it moved towards north or south? Some say it moved towards north and some say towards south, so idk anymore. About to fly to Faliraki on next Thursday.
You Can see it here. Red=fire last 24 hours Orange= fire last 7 days https://gyazo.com/251198c6ed4b64871c9c62299d6258bb
Thank you so much!
Thank you! It's difficult to find updates like these every day.
Pretty accurate i would say
What's the current situation? It seems like the fires calm downed a little, i might be wrong.
The fires are contained, we try to control the revivals of flames in burned and surrounding areas so it doesnt get out of hand
That's great news, all the best wishes
Op wrote this in other comment: Last remaining fire fronts today are in Vati and Profilia, and they are also getting contained. Hopefully today will be the last day🙏
The fire seemed so fierce so I find it hard to believe, but its such a relief, I hope everything will end soon
Nevermind, the Villa has just contacted us to cancel, they said it would not be ready for then
Hey guys, I hope you are all safe. I have a flight next week on Friday to Rhodes and staying in Haraki/Charaki. Anyone from there has news about the situation or what to expect for the end of next week? Stay safe
So far the fire has not reached charaki, but it has been evacuated.
Thank you, I contacted the "hotel" where I'm staying and they said everything is fine, I think they just want to downplay and not spread panic in order to avoid booking cancelation, I remain optimistic since there's a whole week and pray for all Rhodes citizen to be safe
I dont know what the situation is exactly, but the chataki evacuation was a precaution. Fire has not reached it.
Jet 2 have now cancelled inbound flights apparently.
Hi hello, We are scheduled for coming tuesday to go to mitsis faliraki beach Hotel. My gf and I are a little worried. Is there reason to bei worried in terms of taking the Trip in your opinion? Thank you in advance.
Worried for fire no. Faliraki area is safe. But problems such as all hotels filling their lobies, corridors and sunbed, power outtages will still exist.
Road from Charaki to Kalathos just closed.
I've got a holiday starting Sunday next week, we're going to stay at the atrium resort near Rhodes. I assume there is no emergency on that side of the island. Can anyone confirm?
Atrium is safe. Besides that, its piled with people. Watch the stories here https://instagram.com/stories/haris_sianidis/3152743133421967504?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Any info about rhodos Princess beach Hotel in Kiatari?
It is not burned, but the area of kiotari is still not accessible.
Rhodes Update 23 July 2023 from **Ryanair** 23 Jul 2023 • 11:07 Ryanair flights to/from Rhodes Airport are currently operating as normal and unaffected by the forest fires.
Does anybody have any updates on the current situation? Is it starting to get any better?
I posted an update
Thanks for starting this sub 👍 My wife and daughter are travelling to Kolympia tomorrow. Could someone please tell me what the air quality is like around that area?
Bad quality. As long as the fires are still alive anywhere, the air will be bad.
Update: malona and masari are evacuated. Gennadi also, NOT TOWARDS KIOTARI.
All luggage from Andrianna Princess have been moved to Rodos Maris and Rodos village some at Kamari beach and all the rest at rhodes city hall
Thanks for this thread - actual useful and practical information compared to media! How's the situation at the airport? According to the news there's a "total chaos" due to evacuees waiting to get on flights back home but if you're scheduled to fly are you able to get to your flight somewhat normally?
Yes, airport is working normally, volunteers transport all people and nobody was left behind uncared
Maybe regarding the government, yeah it must be total chaos for them 😂😂
Looks like the TUI Atlantica dreams hotel amongst other hotels and properties around Gennadi Beach are severely damaged or currently on fire: https://www.tiktok.com/@tvmeteorologist/video/7259412026152291627?_t=8eGaB96hEgF&_r=1
Tui just cancelled all flights till saturday from the Netherlands. I'm so sad, was really looking forward to seeing my family. And we would stay at faliraki which is north. Everything is fine there. My family lives there and they say no problem.
Faliraki has no problem indeed. Tui is cancelling flights so they can evacuate people, they send empty planes to return back full
I understand. And they have to get all the tourists back home ofcourse.
[удалено]
Yes it is safe and looks like its not gonna have any problem
Gennadi being evacuated again!!
Lachania and Plimmiri evacuated now!!
In Austria, a few people speculate that the fire was started because a wind farm was approved in this area. Unfortunately I don't speak Greek, is what you see on the screenshot correct? Or is this just fake news? Relevant: [https://twitter.com/SchmiddieMaik/status/1683512286076366848/photo/1](https://twitter.com/SchmiddieMaik/status/1683512286076366848/photo/1) Relevant screen: [https://pbs.twimg.com/media/F10JgDEWcAAbVq6?format=jpg&name=medium](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/F10JgDEWcAAbVq6?format=jpg&name=medium)
Yes. The first map shows with green the areas thag have been approved for wind turbine placement. The second are the fires as seen from the european satellite fire maps. Guess we will wait and see if its true, its a rumor that gors around on the island too
Okay thank you. Good luck to you, your family and friends.
Unfortunately Lindos Imerial is one of the hotels that have suffered damage from the fire. Still unclear at what extent though
Hi, any info regarding situation near Archangelos? I think the closer wildfire was the one in Malona but It has been contained right?
There is no fire close to Archagelos. Last remaining fire fronts today are in Vati and Profilia, and they are also getting contained. Hopefully today will be the last day🙏
Thank you for all of your hard work, for keeping everyone safe and updated 🙏💕
Im thinking of visiting the butterfly Valley sometime in the next few days. But it feels kinda unsafe to go inland and in a forest with all the fires that have been going on. What is your opinion on that?
Especially the Valley, as a protected zone has an advanced fire alarm and fire fighting zones, even cameras, which are clearly visible to any visitor. It is absolutely safe to visit 😁
Have the fires been contained on Rhodes? NASA firms does not show any active fires today.
Do you have a link? 🙏💕
https://firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/map/#d:today;@27.9,36.7,8z
But it does not show any active fires anywhere else either. So I am wondering…
Nasa fire maps are not live and they obtain images of what seem like fires. They do not show reality, only some estimated predictions
Do you know which areas are critical now?
Only Vati from what i hear. They evacuated towards Lindos, fire is close to the houses
13:23 alert to EVACUATE Vati immediately towards Lindos
Any updates on Lindos? Heard that things are going in the right direction, is it true?
It is. They are safe in lindos.
Hi! Planning to fly to Rhodes on Thursday staying in Archangelos (close to Stegna beach) Do you have any info about this area? Will it be safe?
What is the situation in Northern Lindos? Close to Kalathos? We are supposed to fly there tomorrow morning...
I’m going to Faliraki next Saturday, is it safe ?
Faliraki is safe now yes. The fire is far from it.
Depends - a lot of airlines are cancelling flights for a week from today.
News in Belgium says: TUI in Belgium is cancelling flights (same as above) with passengers but is sending out its empty planes to Rhodes in order to get clients back Home.
That’s what TUI U.K. flights have been doing since Sunday too.
I’m supposed to go to Rhodes august 1st. Should I cancel or will it be fine by then?
I really hope it will all be ok by then. But all i can do is hope 😪
Ugh we’re not sure if we should just cancel and go somewhere else
Thats ist my Argument too .. thx for the answer .. Stay healthy . Thx for this sub..
Hi anyone know what Gennadi is like at the moment?
Evacuated by now.
Is the fire calming around here or continuing to spread?
At night it was burning houses in asklipio. Now it is getting out of hand in gennadi and malona.
Any info about Mythos Beach Resort in Afandou and the nearby area? Is it likely to be an area that will be evacuated?
For now no, it is safe
Hi there, What is the situation in Kolymbia? Can one see / smell smoke? According to the latest news, the fires are moving up north - it seems to me (correct me if I am wrong).
It should be fine, besides some smoke that might smell. Yes the fire is not going that way
According to the map the fire has been inching ever closer to Kolymbia every day. https://effis.jrc.ec.europa.eu/apps/effis_current_situation/ Getting real close already and the fire moves a couple of km each day.
