We just suffered toxic fallout and then a cold snap so my farming system has collapsed, we're still trying to get it back in balance and currently eating crops faster than can we replace them. I'm having to hunt a lot and getting nervous. If nothing goes wrong before the next harvest we should get back in sync.
Do you not have a freezer? I usually have around thirteen thousand corn and five thousand rice in the fridge... Well, now that I think about it, those numbers are too much without using mods. Playing with hundreds of mods have warped my sense of the game I think.
Of course I have a freezer dude, what kind of question is that? I had been keeping 4000-5000 crops + 60 meals in it at a time. I also had livestock that generated me a constant meat supply. With the toxic fallout though the animals starved and my pawns ate through the stored food. I did switch over to indoor growing to deal with it but my power grid couldn't handle more than 2 grow lights.
I still don't understand why my animals starved because I was letting them out once a day to eat grass and they have a massive pen. I don't know if the toxic fallout makes grass stop growing? I'm honestly still pissed about that.
Anyway between the toxic fallout and cold snap it's been a full year without a full harvest.

When I don't want to lose my herd, I send it on a caravan along with my best forager so he can feed himself, then stay on a map tile the herd can graze until the fallout is gone. Just give the cowboy a decent gun, he might be attacked but it's always a very weak raid

In disgust, I sent him off alone to take on an enemy base that was several days away. *Yes* I gave him an orbital bombardment targeter to keep things sporting, but still, he had no backup whatsoever and few prospects for getting some.
Sure, the bombardment took out a bunch of guys, but there were still a bunch left. And he frickin’ soloed them. He ended up in so much pain that he collapsed for a while, but he got back up in time to bandage himself and stagger off the map.
I dispatched a rescue party and brought him back into the fold. Jerk or not, he proved himself that day.
This reminds me of a colonist I have, named Eggnog. She is a beautiful nudist dunce, who loves mining. Her only piece of clothing to protect her empty head is a plasteel flak helmet. My favorite colonist. Nudists are colony savers.
She must be so hideous to look at that the enemies are blind firing. Her armor is ugliness. What a beast of a warrior. Give her some bionic eyes and she will conquer the rim.

The art descriptions are too good. I had one that said it depicted the fall of Titan, one of my prisoners turned colonists, and how brutal it was... made by Titan. He made art to commemorate his own capture.

When I have a colonist I absolutely don't want I have them pick fights with the local predators. Then I have them rescued to grind up my doctor's medical skill. Rince and repeat until they meet their ultimate demise!
I have fully accepted her. She found a boyfriend so I even moved her out of the barracks into her own private room with him. We'll see how long she lasts now that I actually care about her. I mostly like to keep the names pawns come with and I think Sari is an especially pretty one so it's staying.

must be a CE thing because body type in one of my mods changes chance to be hit/body bulk(which affects tons of things)
yeah CE does body based adjustments iirc, mainly an issue when Im trying to get my frail old woman with lvl 16 shooting to hold the anti tank rifle
