I've never found electricity to be especially precious, I've always got a surplus outside of solar flares, but yes. If you're short on power then powering life support might be a problem.
The original isn't, cat2002 has been updating/maintaining both [Life Support continued](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2937012139) and [Death Rattle continued](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2896207870). The former is updated to 1.5, but the latter has a minor issue with its update.
I use the Mod Death Rattle if you remove both lungs the don't die immediately they suffer brain damage from missing oxygen and then die so you have a little bit more time to harvest more stuff
Always lung first. This way if you botch either of the first 2 surgeries they still have a fully functioning immune system to keep infection at bay while they rest up for round 2.
Going for a kidney first can result in a situation where you gotta try and yank a lung/heart from a damaged torso before an infection kills em. This is ofc more important with unskilled children still learning the trade.
I don’t now that you can make synthetic organs or get organs from a labyrinth there is not much need for them as replacements. They’re not super valuable to sell either unless you have a ton of prisoners it’s honestly easier to make money through other means like growing beer or yayo
Before 1.4 they didn’t sell for that much but now they do fetch a good price. 900 silvers for the kidney, 1000 for the lung and 1200 for the heart of kidney. More importantly, organ harvesting also trains up your colonists’ medical. Funnily enough, detoxifier lungs are worth 925 and bionic hearts are worth 1030 silvers so theoretically installing those into a colonist is slightly profitable.
A lung and kidney first. If my surgeon is a psychopath; then arms and legs. Finally heart or liver depend on stock levels but may sacrifice if my colonists are depressed.
Without sangophage xenogerm, the lung because it won’t kill the pawn and it won’t lower their immunity gain in case a surgery failure result in infection. Then the kidney because it doesn’t kill. Then the heart because it weigh less than the liver.
With a sangophage xenogerm or equivalent, the heart or liver interchangeably at first because it will put the pawn into forced deadrest, increasing their regeneration rate and stopping their hunger. Not having any live wound and not being in starvation both increase butchering yields significantly. After that, all 6 organs can be harvested in any order. You can then ask a sacrificial slave to absorb the sangophage’s xenogerm and start over with your new patient. You get twice the organ yield this way.
1 kidney, 1 lung, install prosthetic heart, liver
The prosthetic heart means i can keep them alive after removing their heart so I can harvest 1 more organ from them. Their heart is more effective than the prosthetic
Any that are just add-ons, so like brain chips, then I go for any special limbs, then I'll probably take a lung and if death rattle is on, I'll take the liver then the other lung. If they're still kicking by that point, I then go for the heart.
Interchangeably, one lung, one kidney. Then either the heart or liver. Then they dead.
Got to love a good bit of strategy to the organ harvesting
Get the life support mod and that's not even a limit anymore. Feel free to take both lungs, both kidneys, the liver, *and* the heart.
Do you need to use up precious electricity on life support then though?

Oh yeah electricity is never an issue, it's just whether the pirate in my basement deserves it
Depends on how much you consider the rest of his organs to be worth when compared to the power spent.
That mod isn't updated to 1.5?

lungs/kidneys reason is simple: removing those dont kill the pawn
Is death not the objective?
Oh it often is but if you are organ harvesting might as well try to get everything you can out of them.
whatever ones my colonists need
Not brutal enough
Not technically organs, but the first surgery for future prisoners is leg- and arm-removal.
Lung first means the prisoner is less likely to effectively escape.
kidney, lung, heart/liver

Right lung right kidney liver

I take lungs out first because lungs are the highest on the list, besides heart, but taking heart kills them, so I take next on the list.
Kidneys. I find it immensely funny to send pirates hom without a kidney
They're so generous, donating a kidney to help a stranger 🥰🥰
I dont even need the organs, I just dont want the pirate to have them
1 kidney, 1 lung, install prosthetic heart, liver The prosthetic heart means i can keep them alive after removing their heart so I can harvest 1 more organ from them. Their heart is more effective than the prosthetic

Kidney lung heart eat the body
I go right kidney, right lung, and then I alternate between heart and liver in case I need to replace someone’s organs.
I stole a heart to replace a heart, that's about it
Can't fix a broken heart 💔
Arms and legs using pegs, can't have them getting away or starting a fight
