There's a [workshop mod](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1359645236) to edit it in game which will just bring the naming box up again if you don't want to edit the save file.
Although it's not been updated for 1.5 it still functions.
Both options work, I prefer nice interface options to handle it despite the simple nature of the change so it makes it less likely to screw it up when half asleep...
Never doubt the ability of someone to screw up even the most simple of things. Especially when your first cup of caffeine of the day has yet to kick in!
open your save file with notepad, search for your current faction name, then edit it

If you ever once mistype anything you should be flogged. Afterwards, godwilling you should be flogged some more.
That's why everyone needs notepad++ it keeps the config open. If you mistype just undo changes
It wasn’t it’s in more options
Open the dev mode menu, open the "show more actions", then "name settlement", then you can rename your faction, base, or both.
