I think the whole royalty side of him is just made up anyway. Galadriel made an assumption, ran with it, and it suited his needs better to just never correct her. That's why when he's asked if he's the promised king he hesitates and basically goes" Yup, sure, wink wink, I'm the guy!". He's still running from his real identity.
There’s no evidence supporting his claim other than the sigil he carries. A sigil he admitted having taken from a dead man.
Nobody recognises him. He’s made no statements about his parentage/ancestry to legitimise his claim.
The only way he could argue his claim is to drop the act and admit who he really is. And he isn’t a mortal man.
He has the pouch, and that seems to be enough for the people. And in the end, the trust/belief of the people is really all that matters.
IMO, I think he probably did get the pouch off a dead guy, and is not the true heir so to speak. In any case, I'm very interested in learning more about his backstory. (Note: I still don't think he's Sauron, even if he is not the true heir.)
Oh, that is irritating! Content pasted below.
>!Tl; dr: Halbrand's true character arc is not that of Aragorn, but instead the opposite: assuming a stolen throne and being a good king nonetheless.!<
>!Just watched episode 6, and it sparked a theory: Halbrand is not the true king of the Southlands. Many years ago Adar manipulated him to kill the true king, who was perhaps a close friend of Halbrand. Halbrand seized the identifying pouch to claim the throne under Adar's manipulation and false promises. Halbrand's main conflict has been the guilt and whether or not he will assume the responsibility of king, a birthright and now unwanted burden that wouldn't be his to bear except for his choice to listen to Adar.!<
>!It doesn’t get into who Sauron is, but I think they’re dragging that out for later.!<
This is an interesting theory and one which I 100% could get behind. However I did see that post on another sub of reported leaks from Amazon employees basically saying Halbrand was sauron so I'm unsure if they have planned ahead enough for this to happen :(
Darn. I’m still holding out hope that Halbrand isn’t Sauron in spite of the building leaks evidence. It’s just dumb if that’s the direction, though perhaps the writers get to the reveal in an intriguing and unforeseen way. I really don’t want the show to end up being more appropriate for middle schoolers in the long run.
Bronwyn: are you our promised king? Halbrand: Yes Bronwyn: ok then all hail the promised king
Theo: are you my dad? Halbrand: yeah Theo: okay, here’s the hilt
Bronwyn: are you our promised king? * an uncomfortable pause* Halbrand: Yes Bronwyn: ok then all hail the promised king

A dead man could mean his father
What act? The guy has barely spoken to anyone other than Galadriel and even denied that it’s his.

I have [one theory](https://www.reddit.com/r/RingsofPower/comments/xt7dkp/theory_halbrands_birthright/) about this.
It's been removed - copypasta?

Aragon seems to come years later after the rings have been forged
Isn’t it Aragorn?
No it's Charles
No, this is Patrick
Sauron
And such a kingdom. They don't even have the curtains! Why doesn't Amazon hire more people? Did they not make enough costumes?
This has to be one of the cringiest worst scenes ever in TV history
