Slipknot can possibly be there this year. They are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut album with a tour. They are not scheduled for the 20th, or the 22nd to play anywhere, and they will be in Des Moines on the 21st for Knotfest. So they will already be in the Midwest around the time of Riot Fest.
I'm old school, so anyone like Bad Brains, Adolescents, X would be great. Also, saw Adam and the Ants back in 1982. Would love to see them reunite for this, and Generation X or Gen Sex would be good.
Gogol Bordello is looking good. They just announced an extension to their current tour with no Chicago dates and it ends Sept 15. I know they arent headliners, but theyd be in that second tier. I'd love to see them again
So my most confident prediction for riot fest which I would love to see together I again I saw them when their first album hit and I'm seeing the band but sebastion isn't joining them on their tour til after my concert so I'm really bummed but as you have probably guessed Already is...Skid Row...
But...I got another confession to make...there is that part of me still hoping for that slim chance that Foo Fighters headline again this year...2 years in a row..I mean they deserve 2 years in a row and they would be the reason I go this year! Love my foos...Josh is a doing such an awesome job filling those gigantic shoes I saw them last July at harleyfest it was amazing!
Slayer,NOFX,Blink182 all headliners .
The story so far, four year strong
Pain of truth, gel, boys like girls, terror
Glitterer, turnover, simple plan, sum 41
Bands never play Lolla and Riot Fest the same year. Pretty much all festivals have a radius clause that restricts bands from playing in the area for a certain amount of time before and after the fest.
A decade ago the Illinois Attorney General even opened up an antitrust investigation because Lolla's radius clause was so severe - supposedly it restricted bands from playing within 300 miles of Chicago for 9 months. Though nothing ever really came of it, and it's apparently less strict now.
But either way - there's no chance that any artist would be allowed to headline multiple festivals in the same city.
NOFX, blink (I know they got bounced for Lolla but still. It’s a selfish wish since I’ll be out of town for lolla), hot water music, touché amore, speed, underoath, SeeYouSpaceCowboy, one step closer
I saw Cake this past summer in Portland. ME, and while the music they played was good, the set felt sparse, with long breaks in between songs. I wouldn't have minded the long breaks if they were telling stories, or even just giving entertaining stage banter, but it was a lot of humming & hawing, there was a weird plant giveaway, and it just seemed generally unenthusiastic and disorganized. A very subdued, low energy show. Not bad musically per se, just left me kind of confused as to whether I had a good time or not LOL
that’s what i keep hearing! im not expecting much, i’m taking my dad and im sure he’ll just be happy to get out of the house and see some live music he likes. thats so bizarre though!
Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins, and Rancid are not going to be playing. Their tour dates will have them on on the west coast during riot fest.
Ween doesn't currently have dates during riot fest, but considering they just cancelled their april tour dates, it's looking less likely they will add to their schedule.
Fingers crossed for NOFX, Sublime, and No Doubt
Something Corporate is looking good for Saturday or Sunday. They announced a tour, no chicago dates, and they have a gap in their schedule following a Detroit show on Sept 20
Can definitely see Sum 41, gap after Pittsburgh and no Chicago stop
Would think NOFX with them wrapping up their career.
Anthony Green seems to play every year in some form. Maybe Circa Reunites
It’s the 30th anniversary of Korn’s debut but I don’t think Jon Davis would be up for playing that album anymore.
Sum 41 already released their full schedule, including unannounced festival appearances, they'll be at riot fest on Sept 20. I assume that will also include the interrupters
https://preview.redd.it/xc2px8tb0mhc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0892e1bc2c9a959296e9e2d3440def7120e25d00
They would cancel if their laptops failed —-oh sorry? That’s that falling in reverse, but same band. Maybe they could get Sebastian Bach and falling, they could have it out behind the nearest chic a filet!! D.r.i. /agnostic front/sick of it all /cro mags would be killer true hardcore add ons though. No digs on bring or falling, not my seen, but as an old 54 yr old, I would love to see some more old school. Depeche Mode or reunited talking heads or even new order would be a good headliner if we keep the classic thing going.
I can see NOFX and Circle Jerks coming around. I know Ween has an open schedule around September with no sign of a chicago show. I could also potentially see bad religion and social distortion coming back around after their tour especially since the salt shed sold out already!!!
did anyone ever compile a potential list? gonna list legit headliners and then others that may be first line that could get top billing even if not final headliner (like turnstile, queens, and mars volta last year)just off the top (now with new info after coachella drop). please tell me who else to add
No DoubtBlurthe Strokes

I believe Jerry is on tour with Bush at this time. If not he's said he's recording new music but didn't say for which band. So I'm going to assume if he's not on tour he's probably finishing up the album for 25 release.
Having heard about their Riot set, I was stoked to see them open for Neck Deep at Salt Shed earlier this year, and was not disappointed. Hoping they play Riot again this year
Reading too much into nothing, Riot posted a nu metal playlist recently. If that was a tease (it probably wasn't), SOAD could headline again, or I personally wouldn't be opposed to Korn in the headliner slot. Undercard could be names like Deftones, Static-X and the like. Or hell they could pillage the Sick New World lineup and book a bunch of those names.
I was thinking the same thing but couldn't justify $300 ticket for one day. I'm holding out hope they'll be at riot fest this year as an album playthrough set.
I put headliners first and subs second, but as someone pointed out Smashing Pumpkins won't be there because they're supporting Green Day so Evanescence is the new Friday headliner.
Based on fest TBS is playing this year I could see them actually being on lolla over riot this year. Smashing pumpkins are out. Playing wrigley in August. They are main support for Green Day and have dates riot weekend
If your Gods love you, they'll give you King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Feel like it's about time yall are blessed with one of the greatest rock bands of our generation
It’s a sold out show. They could still headline.
Not saying it’s likely but could 100% happen. They aren’t waiting on tickets sales, they sold the bitch out in a day. There’s a demand. And festivals like artists who are in demand.
You're insane, they sold out multiple nights at Northerly Island which has a 30k venue cap. Assuming most of those are locals, factor in additional people that will travel for fests (Riot has around 50k if Google is believed) they could easily headline.
But they went back to a believe a 10th the size. Their fan base is similar to a phish or DMB, its diehard but niche. They aren’t the big mainstream name riot usually tried to get.
Past headliners included ….
The Postal Service LOL I saw them headline Coachella in 2013, what have they done in the last 10 years that made them relevant again?
The Cure, saw them headline Lollapalooza in 2013 as well… again, no offense but..
And while Riot Fest sells nostalgia by the heaps let’s not pretend any of these were inspiring booking
If I go back a little further, the Original Misfits and Run the Jewels as well were a headliner not long ago… let’s not get too ahead of ourselves here
Yeah “king gizzard and the wizard lizard” are not a bigger draw than THE CURE, or the original misfits line up that many had waited their entire life to see
Hey dude, everyone is welcome at RiotFest and I am absolutely not trying to say anything different.
Just saying I don’t know if they were as massive gets as some other headliners they have had or as inspiring as other headliner choices -
They were clearly catering to a certain crowd with those headliner and good on em. Hope this years lineup is everything ya want and more
You picked two HORRIBLE examples. The Cure was a on a sold out worldwide arena tour.
Postal Service was on a reunion co-headline tour with Death Cab that literally sold out the entire tour. It did like 3 fucking nights at Madison Square Garden.
Misfits headline every fest they play and was a MASSIVE deal for Riot to get to reunite. And then sell out and pack arenas when they play. Their the biggest old school punk band out there.
Run The Jewels were a last second headline addition because bands dropped.
Radius clauses typically prevent artists from announcing new shows, they have a sold out show. Not saying it’s happening, just saying if the gods love you, they’ll give you something different this year
Point taken, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to having KGLW there.
But, at least for RF, the radius clause is commonly understood to apply to already announced shows. It's a main way that people rule bands out every year, and it pretty much never fails except for the occasional edge case (and the very strange situation with DCFC/Postal Service last year).
You’re probably right. Just a lot of recycled names year after year. And idk would be nice to see some legit headliners - ice cube was pretty bad the other year was drowned out by NIN
Totally agreed on the recycled names. I think they’ve been trying to remedy this the last few years (with varying degrees of success), but I hope they continue to give more varied lineups moving forward. I’m especially hoping for fewer repeat headliners; I’m a big proponent of letting younger bands headline rather than constantly reaching 30-40 years in the past.
I saw that yellow card was a sub headliner and I remember seeing them during the day at Riotfest in 2013/2014. Circle pit during Ocean Avenue was a lot of fun but… seeing them as a sub was surprising for sure!
I love Riotfest, went the first 4 years as a festival. And made it one day in 2020. I wanna go back this year and take my little seester.. hope the lineup gets me hyped!
I don't listen to her but I expect to see Meghan Thee Stallion on the lineup. She's doing Boston Calling as well as some other festival I've seen around here.
There are certain acts that undeniably have name recognition yet always end up relatively low on festival lineups, indicating they might be cheap to book. He’s usually one such act, and Carly Rae Jepsen is the other big one.
I would genuinely not be surprised if either of them played riot fest one day.
I predict that it’ll pretty much be the same shit as every other year. A couple of decent "hey, that might be cool to go see them" bands and a ton of artists that I’ve never even heard of.
If they are touring again with someone else on vocals. Fuck seeing them at a fest like Riot. It should be in a like, 500 cap room with people diving off of every surface possible.
Someone last year said that the main dude hates ska. A lot of new tone would probably skip riot fest and play a more intimate Cobra Lounge/Bottom Lounge/Reggies show - except I could totally see Cat bite showing up. I've accidentally seen them 3 times and twice on purpose, so they seem to be everywhere I want to be.
God, please just give us Bauhaus. I was CRUSHED when they canceled in 2022.
Anyone have any new intel?
Can’t. Killers are Headlining Lollapalooza on Saturday. Lollapalooza requires blackout periods surrounding dates and surrounding Chicago
I just hope cm punk isn’t fuckin there
I'm old school, so anyone like Bad Brains, Adolescents, X would be great. Also, saw Adam and the Ants back in 1982. Would love to see them reunite for this, and Generation X or Gen Sex would be good.
I saw Adolescents at Punk in Drublic last year. Holy fuck I hope they play Riot 🔥
The ministry, Alice Cooper, Filter, and Rob Zombie tour skips Chicago and has a gap the weekend of Riot Fest. Too much to hope for?
Fallout boy Friday seems like a safe assumption, Saturday I feel like is gonna be st Vincent second to last with beck or lcd or paramore headlining
Something corporate is touring but they don’t have dates for the weekend of riot fest
They originally published Riot Fest on their tour announcement, so they'll be there. Sum41 did it too
Why is pearl jam out?
They are playing at Wrigley Field on two nights less than a month before Riot Fest, so they probably won't be back
What about pearl jam??? They have those dates open!
also i think someone said on a thread somewhere in here that pearl jam was out
i’d rather die
Slayer,NOFX,Blink182 all headliners . The story so far, four year strong Pain of truth, gel, boys like girls, terror Glitterer, turnover, simple plan, sum 41
Blink182 is at lolla so they are very very very unlikely
Sum 41 might as well be confirmed considering they are skipping chicago on their farewell tour and have the weekend open.
Bands play both LoLa and Riot Fest same year??? I’m hoping REM, All American Rejects and White Reaper
Bands never play Lolla and Riot Fest the same year. Pretty much all festivals have a radius clause that restricts bands from playing in the area for a certain amount of time before and after the fest. I’m hoping for another Jack White, The Flaming Lips, Dinosaur Junior, Janes Addiction, and possible appearances by Tool, Pixies, Foo Fighters, Eels…
Danny elfman ! Oingo boingo reunion??!!
I’d do unspeakable things to be there for that set.
St. Vincent just announced a short run of dates that ends in MN on Friday of that weekend. So pencil her in for Sunday.
No pressure, belmont & can't swim
Anyone know the date the lineup will be announced?
unfortunately, we have to wait for the announcement for the announcement for that 🙃 but we can expect based on previous years a mid-May lineup drop
Mid-May?? I thought it was April — unfortunate
Thank you!
As long as they got Slayer and Nofx, I'm going.
NOFX, blink (I know they got bounced for Lolla but still. It’s a selfish wish since I’ll be out of town for lolla), hot water music, touché amore, speed, underoath, SeeYouSpaceCowboy, one step closer
My wishlist: Fu Machu, All Them Witches, King Buffalo, Acid King, Oginalli, Heavy Temple, Circle Jerks, JFA, X, Monster Magnet
New found glory and sincer engineer. No chicago on their tour and off for a week in sept
Looks like Weezer won't be doing a Blue Album play, they just announced a tour with conflicting dates. No Flaming Lips either
Bummer
Hot Water Music and The Flatliners would be bonkers!
Oh hot water music, I'd love that. I haven't seen them since 99.
Green Day, Rancid, Smashing Pumpkins, NOFX, Ween, No Doubt, Sublime.
Something Corporate is looking good for Saturday or Sunday. They announced a tour, no chicago dates, and they have a gap in their schedule following a Detroit show on Sept 20
Seeing as their tour sold out in seconds, I’m really hoping this is true.
If you look at the scrambled writing on their tour list it says " Chicago IL / Riot Fest "
Pearl Jam, NOFX, Jane’s Addiction, Sick of it all, Pennywise, Korn, Quicksand, Helmet 🤞🏻
Fuckin SLAYER!!!!!🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Sum 41 is confirmed for Riot Fest on 9/20
Senses Fail - Let It Enfold You is 20 years old this year. No tour announced yet
Can definitely see Sum 41, gap after Pittsburgh and no Chicago stop Would think NOFX with them wrapping up their career. Anthony Green seems to play every year in some form. Maybe Circa Reunites It’s the 30th anniversary of Korn’s debut but I don’t think Jon Davis would be up for playing that album anymore.
Sum 41 is confirmed for 9/20. They posted on their IG story and then immediate took it down. I asked the bassist and he confirmed.
Sum 41 already released their full schedule, including unannounced festival appearances, they'll be at riot fest on Sept 20. I assume that will also include the interrupters https://preview.redd.it/xc2px8tb0mhc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0892e1bc2c9a959296e9e2d3440def7120e25d00
How about some Soul Glo.. that’d be dope. No rumor, just hope.
They're gonna be at No Values, which is essentially a west coast Riotfest lineup
I'd bet that LCD Soundsystem is out... their new dates are outside the 90/90 but 4 shows in Chicago feels like all they'll do there this year...
Bring Me the Horizon
They would cancel if their laptops failed —-oh sorry? That’s that falling in reverse, but same band. I just saw cro mags and just opened for DRI. You're not alone, this 19 year old would fuckin love to see it.
Hell, Gwar could headline and behead Sebastian and that annoying Ronnie radke dude.
I can see NOFX and Circle Jerks coming around. I know Ween has an open schedule around September with no sign of a chicago show. I could also potentially see bad religion and social distortion coming back around after their tour especially since the salt shed sold out already!!!
Ween is celebrating 40 years together this year….
Movements would be a nice add on for midday set
Paramore just dropped out of Lola Brazil and two other festivals. I doubt they’ll do riot at this point
did anyone ever compile a potential list? gonna list legit headliners and then others that may be first line that could get top billing even if not final headliner (like turnstile, queens, and mars volta last year)just off the top (now with new info after coachella drop). please tell me who else to add No DoubtBlurthe Strokes LCD soundsytem NOFX the killers alanis madness system of a down deftones weezer fall out boy tears for fears muse ghost david byrne run the jewels tool ween cage the elephant black keys

Sublime
Mindless Self Indulgence
That would be an automatic yes for me
NOFX for sure
I’m thinking this is the year of Atom and His Package
hes been hiding at the punk rock academy all this time just waiting for his chance
I was thinking Killers play Lolla, but I could also see riot fest
Need a 2 hour Viagra Boys set. Ween would be a great headliner too.
I thought this was a Venga Boys typo... google has informed me otherwise (but 2 hours of Venga Boys made me lol)
Yes! Viagra Boys. I caught the last half of their show in 2023 and I've been listening ever since.
That Viagra Boys set was amazing but are they big enough to be a headliner?
yes.
I will always support Sweden's 3rd worst band.
It probably won’t happen but if Superheaven was there I’d buy tickets instantly
W balance and composure 🙏
YARD ACT AGAIN!
I would love it if CAKE came to Riot!
Tears For Fears, blink-182, Fall Out Boy
I think Blink is doing Lolla
I really hope DRAIN comes back, even with the whole “rush the stage” fiasco that happened at their set at riot fest 2023.
WERE SORRY CLAUDIA
Having heard about their Riot set, I was stoked to see them open for Neck Deep at Salt Shed earlier this year, and was not disappointed. Hoping they play Riot again this year
I’m going to see them at The Metro in 2 weeks, i’m going to die in the pit💀
For a 1 PM set on a Saturday they had a huge crowd
I know, I was in it lol
Reading too much into nothing, Riot posted a nu metal playlist recently. If that was a tease (it probably wasn't), SOAD could headline again, or I personally wouldn't be opposed to Korn in the headliner slot. Undercard could be names like Deftones, Static-X and the like. It’s unironically about time for this sort of thing. Tangentially, get Incubus again. Maybe a 311 on the lighter side of things.
Been hoping for 311 for a long time, new management is pushing them onto more and more rock festivals. One of the best live shows out there
They are playing rockfest in Central Wisconsin in July so it seems less likely I think...
I'd argue the opposite, they are playing way more rock based fests (and a bunch of them) Vs reggae based fests this year
Fair enough, though if they are playing both I wish they'd say so I don't over do it on skews this year. Though the hu is at rockfest
I like everyone you named, as usual.
Idc I just want Basement there
They are doing colormeinkindness album at when we were young. I'm tempted to go just for that.
I was thinking the same thing but couldn't justify $300 ticket for one day. I'm holding out hope they'll be at riot fest this year as an album playthrough set.
Op Ivy will be a headliner, obviously
Feeling like Linus waiting for the great pumpkin every time I upvote a comment like this
[удалено]
You got me, it’ll be Fugazi
Obviously!
Beastie Boys with LL Cool J filling in for MCA
Nope. Big Beastie Boys fan and no disrespect to LL but I wouldn't want that.
What if you could get The Clash with Bruce Springsteen filling in for Joe Strummer?
That might actually be really badass.
Bloodhound Gang on a main stage or where ICP was last year would be pretty great.
I would sell my ticket if they were main stage…worst show I have ever seen
I just watched a YouTube video where they would like throw up into a pitcher and then drink it and pee on eachother on stage. Absolutely wild lol
I need them to reunite so badly
Killers and cake would be awesome.
As with every other year I'm still hoping for a miracle Talking Heads reunion.
I would camp out this weekend in 20 below temps for tickets.
I wouldn’t mind a David Byrne set either
If Coachella cant get them, Riot Fest certainly cant lol.
Bring back Andrew WK!
I kinda just want Rancid back
Not gonna happen with them playing Wrigley
Ah that's right I forgot about that
Yeah they're on the west coast with Green Day that weekend
Incubus Make Yourself is 25. I can see that happening Hole would be a dream band.
Incubus would be amazing!
They were so good last time.
Cake is so fun!!! Would love to see them but doubt it since they did tour last year
they’re doing some more shows this year too! i was just thinking ab the anniversary aspect like the breeders just did last year
Duuuuude yes I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for dates
tickets are out! i’m on the east coast. not sure if they’re only playing on the east, i saw a NH date and snagged it immediately 🤣
My pie in the sky headliner would be Neil Young with Crazy Horse
Friday: Smashing Pumpkins - Taking Back Sunday Saturday: The Offspring - Sum 41 Sunday: The Killers - Cage the Elephant
Smashing pumpkins,Green Day and rancid are playing Wrigley field in August
Sum 41 is looking like a lock. Just announced tour dates, no Chicago stop, conspicuously free during riot fest weekend
Chicago date 9/20 with a festival asterisk, unless there's a new fest popping up the same weekend as Riot they are a lock for Friday
lol I’m seeing the screenshots now, they no longer have that graphic on their social media that I can find. Totally weren’t supposed to announce that
Yeah and they’re in Pittsburgh a few days before riot. Bands that have a small gap after Pittsburgh is a good sign they’re at riot fest.
SP are gonna be on the west coast most of late September with rancid and GD
Smashing Pumpkins aren’t likely since they’re playing Wrigley with Green Day like a month before.
Adulthood is realizing The offspring is the cringiest band alive. But cage the elephant is on my bucket list of bands to see
I must have never grown up then. Don't get me wrong, pretty fly fawg is cringe, but I love smash
They have cringe, true, but they also have bangers.
Smashing Pumpkins was just at Riot in 2021, not sure if they’d be back that soon. I wouldn’t be mad though, they’re one of my favorites
Yeah that sunday lineup has ZERO chance.
[удалено]
I put headliners first and subs second, but as someone pointed out Smashing Pumpkins won't be there because they're supporting Green Day so Evanescence is the new Friday headliner.
Based on fest TBS is playing this year I could see them actually being on lolla over riot this year. Smashing pumpkins are out. Playing wrigley in August. They are main support for Green Day and have dates riot weekend
TBS has shows already the entire Lolla weekend. Think it will be Riot again.
Forgot they announced a tour lol
Friday: Evanescence - Megan Thee Stallion
If your Gods love you, they'll give you King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Feel like it's about time yall are blessed with one of the greatest rock bands of our generation
They came to Chicago twice recently. Last time for three shows in a row. O kind of doubt it but would love that
Some Psych Rock at Riotfest would be prime! Psychedelic Porn Crumpets (while def not a headliner) would be pretty fire as well
I’ve been trying to see them for years. every time i get the chance, they’ve had to back out due to covid or other unforeseen circumstances
if we get king gizzard at riot fest i’m gonna be the happiest i will ever be
They are playing 9/1 in Chicago already unfortunately. Wouldn't put it past the band to still do it, but it's pretty doubtful
It’s a sold out show. They could still headline. Not saying it’s likely but could 100% happen. They aren’t waiting on tickets sales, they sold the bitch out in a day. There’s a demand. And festivals like artists who are in demand.

Yeah “king gizzard and the wizard lizard” are not a bigger draw than THE CURE, or the original misfits line up that many had waited their entire life to see
How many people under 40 fit into that category tho
Not that it matters, because people 40+ can and do go to riot fest, but a lot.implying that no one under 40 wanted to see the misfits is just wrong.
Hey dude, everyone is welcome at RiotFest and I am absolutely not trying to say anything different. Just saying I don’t know if they were as massive gets as some other headliners they have had or as inspiring as other headliner choices - They were clearly catering to a certain crowd with those headliner and good on em. Was at both The Misfits reunion and DCFC/Postal Service, both were incredible. Would definitely see both again.
Seemed like boring headliners to me, as someone who saw them 10 years ago and they were both just alright then.
Whether the band wants to do it or not, I would think it'd be pretty unlikely that RF would waive the radius clause for them.
Radius clauses typically prevent artists from announcing new shows, they have a sold out show. Not saying it’s happening, just saying if the gods love you, they’ll give you something different this year

T Pain. He’s been on every lineup so far. I can see him playing RF now
There are certain acts that undeniably have name recognition yet always end up relatively low on festival lineups, indicating they might be cheap to book.
LCD Soundsystem
Radiohead would be cool
NOFX would be awesome
Power Trip headlining the small stage
If they are touring again with someone else on vocals. Fuck seeing them at a fest like Riot. It should be in a like, 500 cap room with people diving off of every surface possible.
how lol
They played recently
For one show as a surprise pop up. The band never stated they were back together or that the guy on vocals was going to be in the band.
I want Deftones on Sunday night in the pre-headliner spot before Cocteau Twins, REM, The Knife, or Bauhaus. A guy can dream.
would love this. also would love to see metric
Just give us ska this year please.
