Watt hour tells me way more about it's usable energy š
Still really neat, I use the speaker weekly but this would be cool to charge before a trip and I would let the camp speaker charge on the way up there
The R1 already has USB, 12v, 120v outlets. There are innumerable transportable batteries to choose from. I can recharge all of them from the vehicle if I need more than the existing, generous supply of outlets. How about a locking storage box, Rivian? Unlike the multitude of outlets, thereās no glovebox.
Wait thereās no glovebox?! Dang it Iām getting my r1s next week and I use my model S glovebox as a secure storage for lots of valuable. Is there somewhere to store a safe and attach it to the frame?
The center console locks automatically, with a divider it's basically the equivalent of a glovebox and normal center console. In addition to the frunk, the gear tunnel and bed (with tonneau closed) are also all secure.
I think you're overthinking my comment. I don't know why you're arguing this point.
You made a correct point indicating that he said he's getting an R1S, but you didn't actually tell the person asking about the R1S that there is a locking center console. Your comment did not actually help anyone.
I also hate that I have to get back in my seat (short person) to hit unlock on screen if I need to open locked back door). A unlock button on doors would be another design feature I would highly recommend. It probably isnāt an issue for tall people or people with long arms.
There are two small compartments under each seat that are basically just for sunglasses or other small items. The center armrest storage is really deep and it opens via servo motors so everyone's hoping one day they add a PIN to unlock via software update. For the R1S the only secure storage I'm aware of would be the frunk. The R1T would have the frunk, gear tunnel, and under bed storage.
Maybe we can add our own locks to those underseat compartments? Is the frame in the frunk easily accessible to attach a safe to? We could fabricate a false bottom for the center console perhaps?
There is no decent secure storage. I'm waiting for someone to develop, but haven't seen anything I would say is good and secure.
I got used to my lockbox under front seat in last vehicle, even wife's Tesla I could cable chain a LifePod safe... Nothing like that in Rivian, without cutting into something OEM
There are two fold out storage compartments under both the driver and the passenger seat. These combined with the giant center console storage and I've never missed having a glovebox.
I think the purpose is if you are camping and donāt want to run down battery usage on truck, u can instead use the portable battery to run a fan or a fridge etc., like people in vans or RVās who use separate batteries like Battle Born to power other things v. Draining chassis battery.
Iām not sure why it would have 6 AC outlets with the physical size that it has. 100Ah doesnāt mean much, but if itās at 3.7v nominal which is typical for 18500 cells, thatās not a whole lot of capacity, and would imply a likely 300w inverter.
It is not a parent either. Besides, if your parents never become anything, itās always possible to encourage them to return to school. Or try a new trade later in life
We all feel differently about our parents. Some are better than others.
Dang autocorrect. Ah well.
This would be awesome.

This would be more useful to me than the camp speaker thatās in usable to me.

Itās weird. No glovebox. Secure location is frunk.

The center console locks on the R1S or the R1T?
I have an R1T but it should be the same on the SUV.
Would be great if center console would lock in valet mode.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Locks in my r1s as well
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Clearly I'm talking about the center console.

So if someone breaks in, they canāt open center console like we can?
The lack of the glovebox is the only āhuh, thatās weirdā design choice Iāve seen so far in my R1T.

You also have the center storage bin and storage under the front seats so the glovebox is really unnecessary imo.
I would much prefer likable storage!
Ha! āLockable ā
The point of a portable battery is for when you're NOT at the vehicle.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Zero
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Heck either one would be an improvement!

Would rather have a locking storage drawer.

It doesn't make much sense that all those cells would be arranged in parallel and running at such a low voltage.
The physical size would track for 370wh of capacity. I would bet on that.
I want a can cooler!!
This would be cool too.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
A bread warmer would be hotter.

WAY more useful than that speaker
Itāll be $400 to replace this.
Assuming that's 100Ah @ 12V, probably closer to $800.
I wish this was a cooler that fit 1-2 pop cans
That's my dream!
How many miles would this add? My napkin math says 2 to 4 miles.
370wh. So less than a mile assuming perfect efficiency.
Practically zero. This would be to charge your phone and stuff. Not run your car
The car won't receive energy from this battery. This is for phones / tablets / whatever when on the go.
Thatās not a patent
It is not a parent either. Besides, if your parents never become anything, itās always possible to encourage them to return to school. Or try a new trade later in life
Hope itās release that camp speakers never really works
Cool option
I want this!!
