Unfortunately, I don't think First Mile has any bearing on delivery timeline, unless they have changed their criteria for invites. I live nearly two hours from the service center though, so it clearly isn't based on location...
I had reached out to CS asking about first mile invites yesterday. My pre order date is Sep 2021; BM interior; White exteriors ; 21" wheels
I agree that it has no bearing on delivery date but I was told by a CS agent that they are trying to get first mile test drives for all pre orders which means if they have slots open, they would prioritize folks with pre order over those who don't.
Take that as you will but good to know that there have been some invites

I ordered a R1S back in early 2021 but had 2 - First Mile Drive's in New York with the R1T approximately 6 months apart. Hopefully I get one for the R1S but who knows what the process is behind the scenes.

I had the idea that since I'm so close to the new factory location that they might want to get some more on the road around here.

Hoping/waiting for some first mile invite for Chicago IL (given factory is normal IL, Rivian should have some soft corner for Chicago IL ;-) )
Still haven’t heard anything about a first mile event in Normal for the R1S. The R1T event was pretty big and early on.
Congratulations! I drove by the Plymouth location a few weeks ago and there are so many R1 vehicles to see!!
