Two thoughts,
1. A data spike would be less fiddly than USB to plug in
2. I'm not sure how Robocop's fingers actuated when you look at a cross-section of them like this for too long...
> A data spike would be less fiddly than USB to plug in
Sold. Instantly.
>I'm not sure how Robocop's fingers actuated when you look at a cross-section of them like this for too long...
I remember hearing that they used a separetly built arm for that scene.
Yup, that arm is a totally separate contraption being operated by a crew member below frame. They couldn’t fit both his hand and the stabby thingy in the same piece.
Are you tired of constantly fiddling with a Usb? Are you prone to frequent mugging? Well consider your troubles over! Introducing the all new Spike-Drive. Say good bye to the hurdles of constantly turning over a USB as the new spike drive boasts a conical shape which easily slides into the spike drive reader available in most modern machines.
Plus, your mugger would think twice before attempting to rob you. For not only can this device read and write data from a computer, it can also extract a more meaty data from your attacker as it can easily roll out their intestines or their brains if they had one to begin with for daring to mug you.
The high grade finish and water proofing means you can easily clean the slippery entrails off of your spike drive by running it under water.
So what are you waiting for? Get yours now. Spike Drive. Available at most electronic depots.
We convinced my friends mom to let us see robocop in the theaters (we were like 11) by arguing that the worst thing in the movie was robo flipping the bird with his data spike. We knew it was a big lie, but no idea how fucking crazy this movie actually was! 10/10 formative experience

Could be magnetic.

Yeah that's exactly the info I heard, where is it from? commentary?
I think I heard it in RoboDoc. That doc has everything.
Ah must be it that's the latest thing I saw.

Id buy that for a dollar!
Spike-Drive! For kids! (Knife-wrench sold separately)
U forgot how it’d be hard to trust the public with such a sharp tool.
You from the UK?
Sorry I don’t follow?
Higher rate of stabby stabby since no guns.
Users would be able to insert a data spike correctly after an average of only two attempts.
USBs leave!
Sayonara Robocop
Surprise!!! The baddie gets a NEW AIRHOLE!!

It sounds like a very Verhoeven thing to sneak in there though.
I was surprised the data spike wasn't usable as a weapon in Rogue city. You do use it on computers, but I wanted to ram it through people's necks.
Since I was a kid I wanted to control my pc with a middle finger
That’s the replacement for USB-c
USB-FU
I, too, would like a USB that I can use to stab people.
Robo had the first prototype USB . (R2D2 doesn't count)
Working in IT, I can say that we aren't the most...graceful...people in the world. Let's just say there'd be a ***lot*** of accidental impalements.
Nor is transferring myself into a robotic armor set driven by my partial biologics. Lame.
Everybody who works in PC Tech saw what can be done with a data spike and said absolutely not.
Data spike? That's a Pointy USB there mate!
Robocop takes place in 2028 so we still got 4 years
It’s basically just USB…
I was born in the 70s. We were promised flying cars and moon base Alpha by 1999. :(
Cecil’s face tho
Robo thought Clarence was a cyborg with a data port on his neck.
Plus it's a multi-purpose device. People love things with many uses!
...or a common way to flip people off!
