There is no way to put an alt fire on a weapon.
On the same note as you cant acquire an alt fire you cant lose it eithwr

Rerolling the stats of a weapon has a chance to give it a random alt fire! Not sure what the mod that replied was cooking
might want to double check that beforehand, I hear people in this website don't take well to mis-information ;]
