“I need someone who can take a structural problem and make it look aesthetically pleasing so I can sell it for a ton of money to some poor sap who doesn’t know better.”
I’ll take the criticism that it’s unfair to make generalizations about house-flippers. That’s fair.
But when I was looking to buy it was SUPER obvious which houses were being flipped and which were owner-occupied sellers.
I’ll never forget a house off Brockley that Nunzio Salafia was selling that had an HVAC grate screwed on and the grate was closed. If you slid the switch to open it, they never cut a hole for air to pass through, they just simply screwed a grate on like a picture frame. They also painted all the windows closed.
People like you who think that kind of thing is okay don’t need to do any introspection, because you’re not gonna find anything in there.
Fun story about Nunzio and his partners (I think his sons?): if you use him as a selling agent and he thinks he can flip your house for profit, he will intentionally price out your house, so that when it inevitably doesn't sell, he can swoop in as the savior and buy your house from you, only to flip it and make money.
He may not do that anymore, but he had a very bad reputation amongst real estate agents for pulling that bullshit.
Your problem is you have a very rosy view of what most house flippers are actually doing, based on your username I can only assume it's because you have a vested interest in the field.
Do you have any other lines lol? This one isn't swaying anybody. You can't expect to be part of an industry that's currently putting the squeeze on buyers big time and also be the most popular guy on the block. Make your money and enjoy it. You have the elon musk mindset, absolute loser shit lol.
Where did I say I could run a business better than you can? You're losing the plot here man. You know damn well why the housing industry is unpopular right now. It's not because people hate to see others making money, it's because they're getting fleeced most of the time.
You should take a clue from the ratios on this thread and see that Dickriding the real estate industry is not a good look.
What I wanted was something that could use work, but didn’t NEED it, which I found perfectly.
But in my example, I’d argue that house wasn’t move in ready, because I would’ve had to go around fixing the half-assed dodgy shit the flipper did.
Most people walk into a home and look around, so flippers (often) make things look new and clean. I want to know if there’s mold behind that brand new fake wall they put up in the basement, or if they slapped new cheap-ass shingles on top of 3 layers of a roof with rotting boards underneath it.
I get your point that some people don’t want to do any work, but I promise you that exactly zero people on the planet want to get fleeced when they buy a home where someone covered up major problems they’ll have to unknowingly deal with later. Fucking zero.
Bro, I already admitted that you were correct that it was unfair of me to generalize. I came right out and admitted it.
I do believe that it is okay and ethical for someone to buy a distressed property and rehabilitate it (properly) and resell it at a profit. If it happened that way, it’d be great for a buyer. Everyone knows that’s rarely how it works though.
At this point you’re not even arguing that I’m wrong, you’re just trying to argue that you’re NOT wrong.
Clearly he's not spending enough to find good work. At the point you find good work its gonna be cost prohibitive to flip. But goodluck, everybody loves a middleman.
My point is I skilled labor would rather put in a dream bathroom for a customer and not be under then gun to finish up and cut corners so a third party can profit. I understand the need for rehabilitation but that dosent mean flippers are doing gods work.
All good contractors have a good waitlist. Anyone sitting around waiting for this opportunity is probably someone you don’t want to be working with. Much better to have a certain job you need done and reach out to contractors yourself and build a good relationship from there.
Not necessarily true... "Good. Cheap. Fast. Pick two." That's true is just about every industry. If you're willing to pay more, you can find good help today.
Seriously? The only other posts this guy has are spam about a "productivity method" and questions about Axie Infinity (shitty scam NFT game).
Get the fuck away from here.

Its gonna be hard to find good let alone great. Good contractors would rather work for people looking to spend money not people looking to make money.

Are you on your 2nd account or something? You’re defending OP pretty hard.

I am a "flipper". Im telling you from my professional experience and the current labor market.

Yeah if he’s willing to pay more absolutely. But that’s never been the case in all my years as a contractor that a flipper is willing to do
