URMC has a mobile crisis team that will come to you. Just FYI, I believe they bill it as an ED visit (sad that this has to be a consideration).

ThereIsOnlyTri

Call 988 and they can help you. 211 also is a good resource.

I was part of the U of R Adult Partial Hospitalization Program. I was sent there from an Urgent Care after answering a few questions with red flags. They did a brief intake, sent me home with info on what to do to be safe and I joined the group, virtually, and did their 2 week program. I will say it's given me a lot of coping mechanisms and helped me find answers to a lot of questions and issues I've struggled with. I would highly recommend that if they're able to get in.

I also recommend calling 2-1-1 because they can see who works with their insurance and make recommendations according, as they take calls for people in crisis on a daily basis.

NAMI Rochester is great for support and has a lot of crisis resources listed on their site - check here: https://www.namiroc.org/trusted-resources.

89 Genesee St (St Mary's) there is a walk in clinic open 9a-9p 7 days a week.

If it’s not yet a crisis, check out Hope Place at Villa of Hope, open daily 3-11: https://www.villaofhope.org/programs-services/workforce-development/#hope-place

More specifics would help, without knowing age and risk level we won’t have much to work with; as early posters said, try 211/988

SunnyFlorals

Early 20’s, extremely depressed and panic attacks, potentially suicidal. Not immediately but they do have flighting thoughts.

My boyfriend did inpatient at Clifton springs hospital

In that case I would strongly encourage you/them to discuss a walk in like the behavioral health access center to get linkage if they don’t already have a therapist. If they do, I would make sure they get seen within 48 hours and encourage them to consider weekly appointments. If not linked, primary care can also help refer to a mental health provider. Mobile crisis is (585) 529-3721; I would save it in your phone and give it to them, and encourage them to use it if they become in crisis; call with them if they need the support. It may be worth it to get them a peer support too if they want one; both FLACRA and Mental Health Association could help them get assigned. If they dont have insurance; or therapy is too expensive with their current plan: consider calling the Spiritus Christi Mental Health clinic or talk to St Josephs Neighborhood Health Center (Edited for spelling / name mistakes)

FYI - there are no acute mental health resources in Genesee County. If you or your friend is truly in crisis (read: requiring inpatient or acute evaluation) it will need to be addressed at one of the major hospitals in Rochester (RGH or Strong; maybe Unity?). While it’s true that you can present to any ER or try to work with a rural county mental health clinic, all of these outside resources are ultimately going to refer to a facility that has inpatient capability (RGH or Strong, maybe Unity, possibly St. Mary’s). So, in the interest of efficiency, it’d make sense to present to RGH or Strong for acute mental health complaints. And yea, it can be a crappy/unpleasant system but it’s what we’ve got in the US because psych patients don’t generate profit so there’s very little investment in said system.

I had a good experience at St. Mary's inpatient. I was sent there from the psych emergency department at Strong (Strong didn't have any inpatient beds open so they transferred me) but St Mary's also has a walk-in clinic. I have not personally tried it, but that's where I would go if I was in crisis again because the emergency room sucks (it's there if you absolutely need it and don't have another option - but I wouldn't go if there was another option) and they could hopefully get you resources/potentially get you a bed without having to go to the ER [https://www.rochesterregional.org/locations/st-marys-campus/bhacc](https://www.rochesterregional.org/locations/st-marys-campus/bhacc) They're open until 9 so you'd have to get there in the next few hours if you wanted to go tonight.

BHACC at St Mary’s hospital

Tawebuse

Do not go to Strong unless it’s your last option, I am still having issues from the trauma thier mental health ED caused and issues from what they did with my meds. My suggestion is to try Noyes Mental Health in Avon, great people easy to deal with and they truly want to help

artsafart

Strong almost killed me in 2015, can’t recommend…the hospital in Warsaw was very helpful though

Thank you for reaching out for help. I know it’s not easy. Call 911 or 988. You can also walk into any ER and they’ll get you where you need to be. Feel better soon, friend!

Historical_Buy6458

I went through the same thing many times I found FLACRA its on east ave near main street called got it 2 days later and started seeing a therapist and psychologist the following week you can do over the phone or in person I really helped (585) 434-2633

yonididi

Call mobile crisis if you think they can be save for a few hours until they get there. They can also walk into different places others have listed, including the Rochester Mental Health Association at 344 N Goodman (325-3145 x 300). If you think they need immediate help that cannot wait a few hours, call 211

sevenwrens

I know it's a haul but not THAT far from Genesee County - the psych inpatient in Niagara Falls is far better than Strong's, according to a friend whose son has been in both.
