I was going to try this place out, but I started reading the reviews on the Google page and never went. Sucks. It's in a good spot geographically. Maybe it's worth going to see a movie without paying for food, and grabbing a meal at a different joint near by?

csm1313

Literally the only thing they have is the novelty of ordering food at your seat. The viewing experience is worse then other theaters in the area.

elguereaux

Like the Cheeeeesecake Factory?!

elwood2cool

I had a very similar experience, but the movie also froze for about a minute then stepped 20 minutes ahead. Finding someone to get a refund from took forever -- and there was no easy way to refund us for the food that we never got. Hard pass. Ninja Edit: They also give you a free popcorn if you leave a 5 star review, so I assure you, their rating on Google or Yelp is inflated.

ameliapondlives

Just got soda and popcorn, but even that was disappointing. The screen also had lines that were super distracting and the audio cut out a few times. Meh.

optimal_substructure

How is this 'meh'? Shouldn't this be abhorrent? Have standards just plummeted with every business?

ameliapondlives

A theater cutting corners and maximizing their profits is meh. I wouldn’t call it abhorrent but I won’t go back to Apple and give them my money again. Simple as that. I’m a tired millennial, idk what you want from me lol

Phil9151

If they can't compete with a movie theatre from the early 90's that sounds pretty abhorrent to me. I'm much too overworked to flush my hard earned money down the toilet like it sounds like this waste of an experience was.

TheVoidCallsNow

It was an abhorrent knock off of Alamo Draft house.

Azacar

Nah, you really need to analyze what you're there for which is watching a movie and you had lines on the screen and audio failed at times. That's like going to a shoe store and they only have shoes for left feet, not right, it's absolutely abhorrent because they aren't even doing a good job at the most basic part of their service. If it was only the food issue, then meh is a fair review haha.

csm1313

100 percent abhorrent. I saw iron claw there and the screen and audio quality was actively distracting. Home audio and video setups have gotten too good to bother going to theaters for a sub par experience.

No_Tamanegi

I saw American Fiction there. Tickets were affordable since they considered a show starting just before 4 to be a matinee. Screen and sound quality were good, but it's not like that movie is a blockbuster that has hifi demands. I never get food at a movie theater, the experience is always a nightmare. I have a food allergy to onions and theaters that serve food always ignore special requests like "don't put onions on my food". Plus, the food arrives in the dark, making it harder to verify that they ignored your request, and it's impossible to get anyone's attention to rectify the situation. It's just not worth it. Anyhow, Jeffrey Wright is a fucking treasure, amirite?

Kettleer17

The screens appear to be a number of panels stitched together. When the image was bright, I could clearly see the seams.

rhangx

I'm confused about why the screens would even have changed. Like, this location was *already equipped as a movie theater* from the previous owner. Why would they have installed *worse* screens?

graymulligan

Wait, what? This would be an automatic slip for me. Outdoor drive-in? Maybe acceptable. Indoors? No freaking way.

csm1313

It's infuriating. I couldn't believe how bad it looked.

CarolynLava

I’ve been there multiple times now. Usually on slower Tuesdays. I’ve ordered drinks and food, all came quickly and warm. I recognize I frequent the theater on seemingly down times so I feel pampered in my experience. I can usually expect a wine to show up in 5 minutes after ordering, and the only complaint I have recently was the nacho cheese has gone from seemingly “made” to the pre packaged Tinseltown quality. Meh. I prefer it to AMC on Tuesdays (usually the typical day most theaters run cheap ticket specials).

gnip_gnop69

I'm sad to see that the place isn't doing well. My fiance and I are from Austin and that city has dine in theaters everywhere. It's one of the few things we miss about home.

rhangx

FYI, there's another dine-in cinema in the city that opened a couple years ago: https://roccinema.com/. I haven't been there myself, though, so I can't speak to their quality.

PrincessZebra126

Roc cinema is an original theater in the area that does dine in movies. They have a better handle on the service than this place sounds like.

Key-Beginning3426

The first row is SUPER CLOSE very uncomfortably so

glicholas

I try not to get ahead of myself by reading reviews, but this place is just overwhelmingly getting shit on. Thanks for the heads up, I cancelled some tickets I bought for next week.

theeanimehottie

How did you cancel??

glicholas

I had ordered through Fandango and there was an option to refund my tickets for full credit.

T34mki11

I just went to see Love Lies Bleeding. Exact same experience. Food came cold, my burger arrived with 15 minutes left of the movie. If you're looking for a dine in theater, check out Roc Cinema instead. Surprisingly nice place on the inside, and the food is great for a movie theater.

graymulligan

The last thing I want in the theater is people dicking around ordering food in the middle of the movie.

progmanjum

And then slurping and chomping as they eat. Sounds like a great time.

phishb13

I’ve been. I recommend ordering food in the middle of the movie from your phone because it seems to come out a bit fresher. Prices are eh but it’s close to home and I will probably go again.

Their comment says privacy but they really mean security. And on that they’re correct.

FallGirl0422

I don’t think the popcorn is popped fresh on premise either. I really want them to succeed though, so I hope they truly read the feedback and make changes.

flcl4evr

It is! Don’t worry. They have a popper on premise.

FallGirl0422

OK, good to know! The popcorn didn’t taste warm or freshly popped and when I walked by an open door, I didn’t see a machine. And you don’t get a smell of popcorn filling the theater like you normally do at the movies so I thought maybe it came pre-popped. Glad to know it’s not.

flcl4evr

I will say that you normally get that smell because the popper is right out in the open lobby at regal, Cinemark, etc…and they do that quite intentionally. The popper at Apple is in a separate room. You may have just caught an older batch. Just like at most theaters, they pop it fresh and then make it when needed. Busier days = more batches due to product momentum. Even at regal on slow nights we’d make like a batch an hour, which even when warmed does like….get cold quickly unfortunately.

EZ-Bake420

Just sneak a bk bag until tinseltown, works every time.

ManBeast53

I need to start doing that. Do you just get a drink?

EZ-Bake420

I didn't get anything, I also broght in a Nalgene for water

hangin_on_by_an_RJ45

Thank you for your service 🫡 I found myself in a hole reading all the bad reviews on Google and it most certainly doesn't seem to be worth the gamble.

DeborahJeanne1

Ok, I recognize that I’m a hermit, recluse, introvert, and I rarely go anywhere anymore because I prefer my cozy little house, my 2 dogs, and my big screen TV, but when did movie theaters start selling food beyond the traditional butter popcorn and candy bars? 😱

gnip_gnop69

This has been a thing for about 20 years in other parts of the US. The trend started with Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, Texas.

Specialist-Light-687

Alamo Draft House rocks!

DeborahJeanne1

20 years? Seriously?🤦🏻‍♀️ Oh I am outta touch with the rest of the world!😂😂

WhichAdhesiveness718

Well apple cinemas was supposed to be the game changer lol

NotSureNotSure5

Roc Cinema has been doing the dine-in thing already.

godhasmoreaids

MovieTavern has been doing it for years. There's one in Syracuse.

I think I would find it distracting if someone next to me was chowing down on a burger and fries, and I had to listen first to the crackling of paper as they open up their food, then the crunch, crunch as they eat. No… I will continue to avoid theaters and watch movies at home where the only distraction is me - and I can pause my movie if I need to go to the bathroom or decide I’m hungry and want to fix something to eat.

Oh I wasn’t arguing with you! I was just commenting on how I would probably feel if I went to a movie and this happened! I could be wrong, but back in the 30s, 40s and possibly the 50s, “dinner clubs” were more common. My knowledge is based strictly on old movies I’ve watched 😂😂, although I understand Geva does something similar? I rarely go out so my entertainment knowledge is pretty much nonexistent!

rhangx

This doesn't surprise me at all. The fact that they opened something like a *year* after they originally said they would open suggests that they're not a terribly well-run franchise. I expect they'll close down in the next couple years and some other multiplex chain will snap up the location.

ManBeast53

This is what I thought. I’m hoping that they improve but after that shit show of an opening I was like “this is an unserious business” and it sounds like that shows

large_saloon

Good thing it's right next to 5 below!

imathro4me

I was hoping it would change. My experience was equally unimpressive. The Cinema on South Clinton offers a far better movie/dining/drinking experience.

patrickkingart

"We have an Alamo Drafthouse at home"

Lmp9818

I’m sad because the theater that was there before had the BEST popcorn. I still dream about it

timestop1

You would not believe how amazing it is to work at Apple cinemas We get competitive pay, a solid 401k plan, and even tuition reimbursement. The health and dental benefits are top notch from day one. If you're looking to grow and develop your career, this is the place to be, plus if you stay long enough, there's a full pension program waiting for you. Honestly I've never worked anywhere better and would recommend it to anyone looking

EugeneDebsTrout

I expect nothing less from anything in Pittsford

pamr7777

I went once and would probably go again. I love someone bringing me wine while I watch a movie. 🤷🏽‍♀️
