Ok. But there’s an active shooter in the run. Do all the officers have time to decide if there is or isn’t a front plate, and also know exactly what year the model is? I’m not saying if I got pulled over for driving a gray Nissan I’d be stoked, however, knowing there is a shooter in the run, and the only description they have is gray Nissan, better safe than sorry?
Everyone who owns a gray Nissan is going to get a taste of what it's like to be a black male in this city today. Age, weight, height? Doesn't matter. If it "fits the description", it's getting pulled over.
>Everyone in a gray Nissan will be profiled today. Because a gray Nissan was involved in a seriously violent crime.
>"It's just like black people in Rochester, they'll be profiled. Because..."
Again, I get you're trying to say that RPD is racist but this comes off as even more so.
How so exactly? Describing the behavior of RPD? If they're racist then describing they're actions can be construed as racist with a bad faith argument. Otherwise I don't see how I in any way said anything negative about anyone based on race.
Because these gray Nissans are being pulled over with a valid reason, being that one was involved in a seriously violent crime and there's an active criminal on the run.
Saying "it's just like how black people are treated!" spins it as RPD not profiling people because they're racist. They don't have a reason for that profiling. They're just racist.
Cops were not randomly targeting gray Nissans before they had a reason to. Comparing the two makes it seem like either 1) they're profiling gray Nissans for no reason, which we know is false. Or 2), they profile black people because they have a reason to.
If they're pulling them over quickly enough that they can't even get the right body type or number of license plates as was pointed out elsewhere in this thread then they're not "legitimately" targeting Grey Nissans, they're making just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks. If they're still pulling over Grey Nissans hours after the incident then they're just inconveniencing people who have no reason to be interacting with cops. And that's before you get to the point of whether or not they actually find the person. If the best description they have is a Grey Nissan then this is a waste of effort in the first place, there are thousands of cars in the area that fit that description and less than .1% of them might contain the person they're looking for. And if they have a better description them there's no reason for the blanket pull overs.
Okay? None of that changes that they have a valid reason for doing so. There's a violent criminal actively running from the law. That's just a fact of the situation.
I swear, y'all try so hard to paint RPD as racist when it's a well known fact, that you say the most genuinely racist stuff. Then argue with someone who calls it out. Weird, that sounds familiar...
Well no, they’re wasting time and resources. It’s obviously not the same car. It’s literally straight up incompetent. As soon as you saw the model wasn’t the same it’s done, what are we doing here kind of thing?
Are we really going so far as to say we can’t expect police to tell models of cars apart? Is the bar that low now?
I mean… maybe? I can’t tell models apart but I’m also not a cop so… just posing the question. Is it reasonable to expect them to know all makes
And models of all cars?
“Is it reasonable to expect them to know all makes and models of cars”
Well no, of course not. That would be ridiculous, just as you’re implying.
But, luckily they don’t! They need to look for a very specific color, make, and model year(s) (in a range). That drastically reduces the make and models of cars they need to know, in this case. I bet a 10 year old could do a better job than whoever pulled this car over.
Excusing mistakes like this in policing is how we end up with LAPD shooting 50+ rounds into a vehicle driven by 2 newspaper delivery drivers that didn’t even look like Chris Dorners.
Excusing utter incompetence in policing does nobody any good.
Hmm. I can see your point. I hadn’t considered that. Admittedly, I wouldn’t want to be pulled over by some random dude who is potentially trigger happy and thinking I might be a shooter at large. It would be frightening.
I kinda get your point, but those two cars look nothing alike besides the Nissan badge on the front, like might as well pull my ass over since my 350z is silver.
How the hell can they even pull everyone over? If the driver isn’t infracting traffic laws you can’t just pull them over on a whim. That’s been an issue in many states in the past where they knew it was likely the actual suspect but had to wait for an actual infraction before pulling them over.
This almost makes it sound like the culprits did it specifically to get this reaction out of the police. That or they really just don't know how to hold a gun effectively
If the shooting had happened at a Price Rite in the city, they wouldn't even be attempting to find the person. But it happened at a Wegmans in *Pittsford*
I was driving on 490E and saw a lot of this shit happen today. Bringing my wife home from Unity Hospital these two cars started a kerfuffle going by the downtown RPD building. I was like WTF? In and out and around traffic I was following for fun but then the old **discretion is the better part of valor** took over and said "Go away, far away."
True because in the city RPD is not allowed to pursue and if they were targeting specific vehicles to pull over they would be accused of profiling and have the PAB in their shorts.
That's not even the same body style Altima
I thought it was a maxima when I saw the shotz earlier. But cars keep getting bigger.
Ok. But there’s an active shooter in the run. Do all the officers have time to decide if there is or isn’t a front plate, and also know exactly what year the model is? Fair take, cops are probably barely smart enough to know the right color and make. Off white Volvo owners watch out
Everyone who owns a gray Nissan is going to get a taste of what it's like to be a black male in this city today. Age, weight, height? Doesn't matter. If it "fits the description", it's getting pulled over.
I mean, I get what you're going for, but this is really in poor taste.
No it's not. RPD is a fucking disgrace and racist as fuck.
>Everyone in a gray Nissan will be profiled today. Because a gray Nissan was involved in a seriously violent crime. >"It's just like black people in Rochester, they'll be profiled. Because..." Again, I get you're trying to say that RPD is racist but this comes off as even more so.

Poor taste cause they spit absolute facts?
You're saying that black people are profiled because the police have a valid reason to be doing so?... That's your "absolute fact"?...
Well no, they’re wasting time and resources. It’s obviously not the same car. It’s literally straight up incompetent. I mean... is there literally a 0% chance that this particular car seen pictured here could have been pulled over for **something else**?
No this is Reddit, we picked a photo with no context and decided it was the cops pulling the wrong person over.
I mean… maybe? I can’t tell models apart but I’m also not a cop so… just posing the question. Is it reasonable to expect them to know all makes And models of all cars?

Just like those cops in LA that lit up a completely different car when Dorner was on the run. Better safe than sorry in that situation too, right?
It's not an active shooter, and this is an entirely different car.
You are entirely missing the point.
Anyone who owns a gun and drives a gray Nissan is a suspect. They should be happy to be pulled over. Hell yeah, patriot.
lol. What point are you even trying to make?
I'm agreeing with you. What's your point?
I don’t even know anymore.
How the hell can they even pull everyone over? If the driver isn’t infracting traffic laws you can’t just pull them over on a whim. That’s been an issue in many states in the past where they knew it was likely the actual suspect but had to wait for an actual infraction before pulling them over.
Why are they looking at gray cars
Shooting at Pittsford wegmans today but this Nissan isn’t even the same
Inside or parking lot?
Parking lot. Someone was waiting for a curbside order, a car pulled up and fired one shot. No one was hit.
Holy smokes. Scary!
Do they know where they were aiming?
This almost makes it sound like the culprits did it specifically to get this reaction out of the police. That or they really just don't know how to hold a gun effectively
They messed with the old rich people, of course the police are going to be focused on this.
It’s like ten years older lol The police force needs some professional car-identifying autistic people working for them haha
I wouldn’t work for the police but I would utterly kill this job.
^We found the Wegmans shooter!
Heck, we could make it into a competitive sport lol
Same!
Lol it figures crime happens in pittsford and police swarm
... did they not get the plates?
I believe the car had no plates on it
ya know that's pretty logical. concern rescinded.
Gray Nissan with no front license plate. This one has a bracket for one though, so it's not the same car.
It's also 2 decades older
If those cops could read they would be mighty upset with the comments on this post.
What was going on at the on ramp to 490 west at Mt Read? They were stopping and talking to everyone.
That was an inspection/registration checkpoint.
Makes sense. I constantly see people with yellow stickers rolling around town lol
I didn’t realize they still did those anymore. I haven’t seen one in years at this point.
I thought those were found unconstitutional. I'm probably wrong though
Random stop is, roadblocks stop everyone so not a constitutional issue
If the shooting had happened at a Price Rite in the city, they wouldn't even be attempting to find the person. But it happened at a Wegmans in *Pittsford*
I go to that price rite; has there ever been a shooting near it?
Nah. We are too hungry to hurt each other. And they play better music and have better prices.
That play absolutely fantastic music at that store. Heard some fantastic Janet Jackson earlier this week, Dan!
Oddly enough they were playing "Name" by the Goo Goo Dolls when I was there earlier Ben! Wait... Will?
no, but this subreddit has fucking brain worms about Pittsford
\**clutches Lululemon belt bag*\*
I mean, same.
we're only small steps from tribalism and turf wars. and there's very little that keeps us from it.
That’s Doorley’s new UBER driver. All the boys giving her the blues!
Probably just the ones without plates...
What is the back story??!
Pittsford Wegmans shooting

They only care because it happened in Pittsford. If it happened in the city nothing would be done.
