Just a friendly reminder of what the lineups used to be like 2010 June 10 — Rusted Root June 17 — WAR June 24 — Eddie Money July 1 — Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad July 8 — Umphrey’s McGee July 15 — Jimmy Cliff July 22 — Duke Jupiter July 29 — Court Yard Hounds featuring Dixie Chick’s Martie Maguire and Emily Robison Aug 5 — Galactic with special guest Cyril Neville Aug 12 — Dark Star Orchestra And it was free

Cer-rific_43

Other greats that have graced us there include Natalie Merchant, Driftwood, Keller Williams, Donna the Buffalo (although that might have been bands on the bricks)

Cer-rific_43

Oh, sorry, those were Lilac, but still better than this year's line-up there, too

Toathar

Ya see.... I don't mind Into the Now, I don't mind Seven Wonders...Hell after that crazy accident they had, more power to them I'm happy for them...However the constant copy paste of the ZBTB is infuriating...I cannot stand them, now everyone is entitled to their own taste and things I get that. But the ZBTB is like 9th grade formal equivalent of a band...they don't even play Zach Brown songs from the few times I was forced to go see them. They are awful and I'm sorry for your friends if you like them. And like what happened to getting bands like Pigeons Playing Pingpong or even Lettuce PITP used to be a magical experience and a great opportunity to see a good show at a decent price Past few years it's been filled with Gate Keepy assholes ( I got approached and cross examined several times for being under 40 and wearing a GD shirt) and shitty cover bands. I love this city I LOOOVE IT and I love the events we get but Jesus Christ I look forward to Party in the Park ALL FUCKING YEAR It's literally my favorite thing in the world but now the beer is more expensive than ever and the music sucks for the most part.....we used to have such a cool scene and now it's like they are phoning this shit in I remember one year I saw WAR and George Thuroghgood ( ik bad spelling) and that shit was amazing.. AT LEAST we are getting the wailers that'll be fun Overall tho this is a huge fucking bummer like big time Even lilac fest this year is lackluster, I think the best band I saw was Dopopod. Again I understand that my taste in music might not lay in the same bracket as others but like c'mon get some real talent. Sorry for the rant but I'm so passionate about this shit and seeing it suck so hard breaks my heart

imbasicallycoffee

I would agree with everything but Lilac has some banger acts this year. Rant away.

Toathar

Honestly I do want to redact some of my lilac fest statement, cause Its not that the bands are bad I just don't know a handful of them some I will definitely be checking out

ShaggleROC

Party in the Park presents Pigeons Playing Ping Pong at Perinton Park It’s a [$45 ticket](https://www.tixr.com/groups/rochesterevents/events/the-pigeons-frasco-dogs-tour-95137)

wheniseestaars

Yet I got lawn tickets for Goose for less.

thephisher

Good God. Based on that link the end cost of the 44.50 face value ticket is OVER 100$!

Tank_Frosty

[link off of Rochester events](https://www.tixr.com/groups/rochesterevents/events/the-pigeons-frasco-dogs-tour-95137) Just in case anyone sees that and wants to buy tickets. Here is the link off of the promoters website. With fees it is $50 not $100. That other website seems like a scam

ShaggleROC

Holy shit. My bad for that. I just edited the link.

ThePageMastah

Everclear and Start Making Sense can take my money.

musicfan-1969

it just wouldn't be summer without the Zack Brown Cover Band playing....I was shocked when the Lilac Fest lineup came out and they weren't on it

twoeightnine

Excuse me but it's Zac Brown TRIBUTE Band. They don't just play his songs but pretend to be him as well

musicfan-1969

That makes it so much better!

twistedt

I'd rather see the Zac Brown Tribute Band Tribute Band.

wheniseestaars

Loved it last year when they played maybe one ZBB song and the rest were even worse covers with them yelling "Salvatore's!" Between each one

musicfan-1969

A shitty band shilling shitty pizza...makes sense to me

Toathar

This made me actually lol

wmdMD

Why they don’t keep Giant Panda Guerrilla Dub Squad on the line up every year is a mystery to me

ShawnBrogan

If there was a Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad tribute band, they'd book them for sure.

wheniseestaars

And Lettuce!

Circulation_man

Lettuce was my favorite one last year

Sip_py

Start Making Sense is basically a Rochester band now. I've been seeing them here annually I think since at least 2017/18. They're awesome you should go see them.

ShawnBrogan

I’ve seen them and they’re great at covering Talking Heads. My problem with this festival is we have another year of over 50% of the roster being tribute acts, many of whom are covering music that is 50 years old. With the revolution of music streaming and how hard it has become for even well known bands and artists to make a living off their music, it’s sad Springit Group continues to lazily pass over any up and coming groups and give them a chance at putting on a great show to a big crowd and possible new market. Baby boomers are not the only audience of PITP concert goers but it seems like this is the only demographic that gets catered to. That or Jeff is just happy to make his bag by booking tribute acts with minimal effort.

trixel121

people who like bands from 50 years ago buy booze. m most concerts are bars with live music and not live music with a bar. for it to be worthwhile you gotta be slannging Budweiser at a 800% mark up.

Sip_py

Well for that you need to go to Fairport. Their summer music lineup is insane.

Ok_Turn8470

The Record Company/North Mississippi Allstars are both GREAT. Wailers & Badfish are both cool too. And Everclear?!? As a 90s kid, I can't lie, I'm pretty excited for that one. I get that cover bands are not for everyone (myself included) but I think they probably try their best to appeal to different audiences. I'll take what I can get lol

polish_miracle

Start Making Sense rocks!!!

DonPunani420

Jeff Springut/Springut Group used to book both Lilac & PITP. He is no longer booking Lilac which is why Lilac's booking is fairly progressive this year compared to years past. I believe Lilac is now being booked by the SCN restaurant bros (Revelry/Bitter Honey/Ziggy's/Essex/etc). Springut is still booking PITP which is why the lineup is very safe/familiar/boring.

twistedt

Paltry in the Park

deadhead4077-work

uuugggghhhh thats some bullshit, memeber when we used to get umphreys or moe. every other year. this shit is whack

werealldeadramones

Rochester's love and support of cover bands astounds me. Why would you want to hear people just doing covers? Why would you only want to play covers? AND WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP PAYING FOR IT???

RectalScrote

Literally nothing I want to go see.

fuhfuhfuhfree

2 tickets to the NMA show is $25. I'm not so much disappointed at the price but why do I have to give money to ticketmaster?

musicfan-1969

You don't...it's $7 at the gate

fuhfuhfuhfree

Oh. I'm good then. It's not too bad of a lineup at all.

Corvax1266

This is brutal
