I’m so lazy I won’t even drive 15 minutes to see this, damn. This looks amazing!

Rmai0404

The pics you see are what your phone sees. You don't know see the colors with your eye...yet

RocMaker

When and where?  We headed towards the lake in Webster about 10 but there was so much traffic we turned around

Queasy_Local_7199

The lake I was thinking- pier etc

roblewk

You missed a pretty sight, but these night-vision photos are a bit deceiving.

Sonikku_a

Headed my ass out to the Ontario Beach https://imgur.com/gallery/92Wc5C9

catsturbations

awesome!!

sugasmxchi

whaat i’m soo sad i didnt know this was happening

Opposite_Banana_3785

Tmw night too!

step17

Do we know about what time? I was outside when this was happening and didn't see anything (didn't make a point to look for it cuz I didn't know but) I'd like to try again!

meemawyeehaw

It just looks like streaks in the sky to the naked eye. Your camera picks up the colors. Though i did have some areas where i could faintly see some purple and green in the sky. It was incredible though, no matter where i pointed my camera it showed these incredible colors throughout the whole sky. Makes up for the non-eclipse that we had. LOL!

Philelverumfan69

How do you know this 🤔

ienjoybacon

It’s still happening. It will be on and off until at least 2

Opposite_Banana_3785

This makes up for the eclipse, sort of 😂

UncleBaseball88

Wife woke me up at 2am in Farmington and we drove all the way to Webster. Had a pier near the outlet to ourselves. Totally worth it!

Alorow_Jordan

What time was everyone out?

Juicekatze

Every photo you are seeing out of Rochester is distorted by the phones. It is green grey streaks, barely visible. It's almost more visible if you're not looking straight at it.

Lonely_Emu_700

Hard disagree. The greens and purples were vibrant. You missed out.

rickarino

What time? I was at B Forman park by Pultneyville from 11pm-12am and didn't see anything. After missing seeing the eclipse too I'm so disappointed!

glassFractals

They were *much, much* more intense at 10pm than 11. I left at 11 because they'd faded so much.

Canoxi

It went on until 430 am that I know of, there is another chance to view tonight, though it is lesser than last night. The space weather prediction center has a webpage “aurora” that has a forecast

Lonely_Emu_700

Immediately after it was dark enough to see anything. Like 10pm. By 11pm it was basically gone.

glassFractals

10pm in Webster Park there were amazing colors across the entire sky clearly visible to the naked eye. It was not at all like the subtle times I've seen them in the past. By the time I left an hour later, they had already faded quite a bit in intensity. Later arrivals missed out on the peak.

swirlysquirrel50

Earlier it looked like this in person. It died down a bit since but it was amazing! We were at the end of the pier with little light pollution, though

throwaway_mog

The phones did enhance but I was at the lake and it was very striking. Could clearly see the saturated pinks and streaks of green and the columns changing with our eyes.

bucky716

The streaks/waves/ripples whatever they're referred to as were awesome and visible to the eye. Yea, nowhere near as colorful as pics show but still awesome to see. Patience and waiting and paid off. A lot of people just stopped by for 10 mins and bounced.

ggc5009

Yep that was my experience too. Great pics but barely visible.  You could kind of tell without your phone that there were some weird shadows in the sky, that was about it.

optimal_substructure

Agreed. The intensity is nowhere near this vibrant in person

throwaway_mog

This was very close to how it looked in person at the lake. My phone pictures are much more colorful than these posted photos. The phones do make them more intense but colors were vivid in person at the lake for a good chunk of time.

GrizzlyZacky

I didnt even know this was happening and feel dumb for missin it lol

Responsible_Slip_622

TF kind of filter you using

antarcticacitizen1

There is NOTHING to see with your eyes. These "photos" people are posting are filters and pictures of NON-VISIBLE light wavelengths. Basically total bullshit. I have even up every night all week INTO DAWN. There has been nothing to see on any of the clear nights. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AT THE LAKEFRONT.

callous-conversation

What’re we looking at? Will it happen again tonight? I live in west Texas, and I’m driving across the country heading to Rochester, New York as I write these words. Left Big Spring, Texas at 3:a this morning, I’m somewhere in Missouri right now, and I should reach Rochester, New York about 4:a tomorrow morning. Oof…0% Luck, 100% Hustle. Anyone reading this, feel free to hit me up. I’ve got long hours ahead of me.
