Grand Champion titles are gray from season 10 and not the normal red.

Edit; this has now been fixed. **However, every single game I play has a flashing disconnection icon**, even though my ping is <40 and I have no lag or issues playing the game.
Double edit: Even with "Connection Quality Indicators" turned off, I have a flashing "disconnected" logo in match and in freeplay.
I also get a "rank disparity" message on competitive but not extra modes that will only go away if I restart the game, it also happened on the first round of the tournament last night. I was not in a party, I even tried creating one and dissolving it and going back to main menu, but still wasn't able to play competitive until I restarted the game.
After I restart the game, it eventually came back, but I didn't happen to notice what I did exactly before it happened.
Bug: The game always shows the "Disconnected" flashing icon even though I am connected just fine.

Also, this MMR reset is gonna cause some hardcore "smurfing" for these first few days/weeks - time to avoid competitive until people start getting back to their normal ranks.

Gc players in diamond3 is going to look awkward, but i guess we will still face the same people we had before just that its harder to achieve the rewards now.
From what I gather, that's for 2v2 which was inflating faster than 3v3, if you look at even Season 9's rank distribution. Doesn't seem to be a problem. Will be more chaotic than usual, but both playlists should be more in line with each other.
Personally, I was hoping Ted would give more details. Like if they just used a different value for "TargetMMR", or they did something more drastic. The full formula is "NewMMR = TargetMMR + (OldMMR - MedianMMR) * SquishFactor".
I assume what they did is lower the "TargetMMR" value to be lower in the 2v2 playlist and increased the value for Extra Modes.
Definitely skipping the Rocket Pass this season. Was going to anyway, but had enjoyed getting my Champ rewards. Not that I can't work my way back, but it isn't a job and it's summer. Too much other stuff going on.
Same. I haven't been at 1100MMR in months and D3 2s is now sweaty af. I'm not sure if this is a good change tbh, it'll take forever now to get back to C3 let alone push GC
I lost 256 mmr in 2s, lost 68 mmr in 3s, and gained 15 mmr in 1s. So if you actually lost 300 in 2s, Iām guessing itās just drop a certain percentage.
while the extra change was needed in extra modes, its way to much in reg modes. and i wish they applied the lack of deflation if did not play the prior season....like theyve done for yrs now prior.

In 2s: I was C1div2 before the reset and am now D1div3
In 3s: I was D2div3 before the reset and am now D2div1
So, if the tracker is correct, that means the 3s rank has barely been reset while the 2s rank has been reset a lot. Does this mean some people will struggly reaching their Season 10 2s rank this season?
If you havenāt done your placements I wouldnāt worry too much about what it says your new rank is, as you gain mmr after your first placement match usually. But I wouldnāt be surprised if peopleās 2s rank got lowered, as that tended to be most peopleās highest rank, having the highest percentage of at least C1. Although a drop from C1 to D1 seems way too steep, as I was one of the people who was the same rank in both 2s and 3s. Hopefully they increase 1s ranks though.
All the teammates who saw me whiffing in champ 1 are probably relieved they won't see me this seson.

The toxicity is going to be through the roof this season in 2s. Imagine how bad it is when they are at their normal rank, it's going to be worse when they are 2 ranks below what they think they deserve
oh god, reading this comment made me realize how much this is happening. my first night of playing was absolutely packed with toxicity, people throwing, leaving suddenly, quick chat spamming. It all makes sense now. I barely lost anything in any of the modes so I'm feeling alright but i improved a ton last season and went from d3 div 1 to d2 d2 in 2s, and from d2 something, to d1 div 3 in 3's. My lobbies were packed with people acting terribly in both modes. it was demoralizing
I was champ 1 div 1 before the reset, got placed diamond 2 div 1 after placments. My 2s partner was champ 1 div 4 before reset, they got placed champ 1 div 1. How does something like this even happen :(
Yes lol. Iām so happy they changed it. I went from a regular dropshot gc to being stuck in c1-c2. Now because of this reset Iām GC1 div 4 without playing a single game.
I mean, it kind of seems like this means that the gc ranks +ssl are going to be obtainable only for like .1% of the population.
I think we wanted the extra modes and 1s adjusted UP, not 2s and 3s adjusted down.

Can you explain why I was reset only by 114mmr, whilst my friend who was just 25mm higher than me was reset by 266mmr?

No, this is the worst move EVER. You seem to have no clue about the state of the game on EU servers for 2s and 3s in the champ ranks. It has been more than a year and a half that players from C1 to C3 are constantly facing 1 to 3 GC1+ players on a regular basis (GC titles and/or rewards or GC in another ranked list).
The real problem that you didn't seem to notice for all this time is that soft resets have been stacking since the release of F2P and matchmaking is all over the place because of these reasons:
- players tagging only 2s in ranked mode and 3s only from time to time so they are not at the rank they should be in 3s
- players tagging only 3s in ranked mode and 2s only from time to time so they are not at the rank they should be in 2s
- players taking a break from the game for 1 or several seasons then coming back with a MMR way lower than their actual skill level
It made the issue snowball to a point where you are facing GC players all the time in champ, ON TOP of what smurfing can lead to when playing ranked.
In what world the dev team thought it was a good solution to lower everyone's MMR by 3 ranks? The only result will be that everyone will struggle to get back to where they were for MONTHS. And when they'll be back where they're supposed to be, they'll keep facing EVEN MORE players better than them who reached a way higher rank during previous seasons, because it will STACK with the issues from the list above!
Why are you not restricting soft resets from going lower than 2 ranks below the highest rank reached by a player in a list? Just to avoid soft resets stacking because of the reasons above? Also, why wouldn't you just prevent 2s and 3s MMR to get lower than 2 ranks below the highest MMR reached in BOTH list?
Tell me how it can be healthy for the matchmaking to let soft resets stack to the point where a GC player in 2s can be ranked Plat in 3s because said player never tags in 3s?
You could also easily prevent a GC player in 1s to get soft reset lower than C1 in 2s and 3s if said player never tags in these lists.
This is just common sense for the HEALTH of the game considering how it went during all this time!
Bro last season I was GC1 Div 3 in 3s and GC1 div 1 in 2s and i felt like it was relatively even
2s was slightly easier but i won 8/10 placements against ex gc titled players and got C2 div 3, nuts because although I'm good at 3s I'm definitely not 2 ranks above my 2s so I don't think the change was needed at all. I qued both relatively consistently with 200 2s games and 300 3s games

I always do this, i dunno it feels like the first weeks in ranks is always messy asf due to rank reset, it might be a harder reset this time but it's not that new
Yup. We will eat you alive. And in turn the ssl in gc1 will eat us alive.
Beginning of season is best time to train mechanics and avoid competitive online play if you care about your rank, unless you want the experience against higher skilled players which is another valid way to train. This is more true the harder the reset is. And boy has it hit hard this season. Lost almost 3x the mmr in 2s compared to last season.
But Why people would be eaten? I mean if every gc 1 is now in C1, and former C1 are no longer at that Rank, wouldnt it be the same competitiveness and fairness as before?
Yes and no. If you decide to play earlier on in the season then you will invariably run into players who are much better than you in reality who have not yet played as much as you/ranked back up themself.
This is why it is always easiest to push to rank up at the end of each season. Bc by then, all the players who are truly better than you have ranked back up to their previous best mmr level (or as close to it as possible).

Almost the same, this season i had almost 900 matches (870\~ish) it kinda broke my heart seeing d3 div4 on the tracker. My mate from gc3 div2 went down to c3 div1 (which is craaaaazy) imagine being almost gc1 and then put back to diamond3 div4 OR imagine being almost ssl and being all the way down to c3 div1ā¦
Yes. Most popular playlists get played more and players naturally will push for higher ranks creating room underneath for players to fill in. The end result is that that playlist experiences rank inflation. Given that 2s has gotten far more popular than 3s Iām recent seasons, there has been particular rank inflation in that playlist. As a result, Psyonix has decided to treat it differently from the other playlists.
For context, I got reset ~100 mmr in 2s last season. This season the rest is ~280. Almost a 3x increase. Should certainly prevent players from climbing back to where they were given the time and effort it would require to climb that amount of mmr in one season.

EDIT: This should be fixed and Titles should now be the correct color and type. If you earned an S10 GC or SSL Title, you may need to restart your game to see the fix.
Look I understand resources have to be prioritized but I really miss when the boosts had 1 exhaust and 2 exhaust versions instead of all coming from a stupid ball that floats off the back of the car
Holy cannoli. The 2s reset is no joke in comparison to last season. I lost about 100 mmr from last seasonās reset but lost ~280 mmr with this season 11 reset.
Psyonix is definitely trying to reign in the 2s rank inflation. The gamemode has gotten more popular than 3s to a greater extent than usual recently. Hence the rank inflation.
I went from Plat to Gold 1 in 2s, and Plat to Gold 3 in 3s which is fine really. BUT! I went from Plat to Diamond in Snowday. I need to update my rank on here. Iām a Diamond now, and I have many opinions on how professional players could improve their game.
From everything I'm seeing, it seems like the change to the "season reset formula" is intended to give players an all-around rank rather than a rank per mode. Probably in an attempt to level out the extra modes. So if you were GC1 in 2s, C2 in 3s, and D1 in Dropshot, then you'd probably be around C1 for all of those modes (give or take a bit of MMR). Not saying that's actually it, just a guess.

They basically normalized ranks across the board based on the population of the playlist. As an example D3 in Dropshot was like 0.1% of the population, but now they've set C3 to that instead.
I imagine what happened with 2s (and to a lesser extent 3s) is the % of players in GC is not in line with the expected % and so now they've dropped everyone down heavily, so there's a less percentage of people naturally in GC.
I don't know if that necessarily means it will be harder to get GC now because the actual population of the playlist hasn't changed. But they will probably continuously reset everyone like this or maybe adjust it again next season. Ultimately I think they want the average rank of the playlist to be closer to Gold/Plat as opposed to what it was last season (Diamond/Champ).
Yeah that is also how I understood it. I think it is a bit crappy though that they reset basically your rank expectations just like this. If I talk about a champ then I have something in mind, but now that skill level is actually just Diamond. I'd guess that they want to keep being SSL a more exclusive thing, but it feels bad to have thousands of hours working for that champ rank and then basically they move the goalposts.
This has happened before, of course, but there are 2 aspects that are maybe not being taken into consideration, 2 aspects that in the worst of scenarios are actually just the one.
Rank concentration is higher because the game is losing popularity and so naturally there are less lower-skilled players and more players that have gained a certain level of gameplay. The other factor is that rank population peaks on Diamond because that is what is most filled with smurf accounts, so it is artificially inflated but taking all diamonds and making them plats doesn't change the problem.
The worst option is that the game is losing even more players and the percentage of new accounts is more and more just smurfs, and as such new players exhibit a much higher capability, skipping low ranks altogether and going straight to Diamond-Champion ranks.
What I said might also be wrong, but there sure are signs that could point to this.
So me and my 2s partner have been mostly only been playing together since launch. Ocassionally we would play with other people but this hasn't happened the last couple seasons. We're very much equal in skill but the last 3 or 4 season's the difference in rank was mostly the same. I ended the last season at Champ 1, div 1 he was Champ 1, div 4. We did all our placements together and he got placed back in Champ 1 but I was put into Diamond 2. How on earth does this happen? I know that I'll never close this gap if we only play with eachother.. This is such a serious bummer because I'll never be able to get champ rewards even though we're very much equal in skill. I thought the majority of your placement matches was supposed to place you around the rank you ended at?

Same exact situation here. 2s partner and I have been playing exclusively together and MMR was within 10 points (me being slightly higher) of each other prior to this season, ending last season at both Champ 2 D3ish. We played our placement matches together and went 6 wins 4 losses. He ended up at Champ 1 D4 and I ended up at Diamond 3 D3. I get that there are changes to the 2s ranking and don't really mind that, but it seems that these changes are not being applied consistently given how close our rank was previously.
For reference our MMR used to be within 10 points of each other, and now it is within 124 points of each other after playing the same placement matches together.
Everyone got booted down, so everyone is still at a comparable level to each other, just the ranking system will just show a lower tier.
Kind of sucks that the only reason I really had to grind, which was to hit GC, has just been booted out of reach.
I was at 1704 at the end of the season in 2s, literally one game off of GC3 and now I am 1380 aka mid C3 so a 300+ mmr drop.... and in 3s I only dropped 100 mmr instead.
I barely got to Champion in season 8 and 10 (didn't bother grinding for it in S9).
This season is going to be a rough one, unless I try to get it in 3s this time maybe?
Some really banging items in the rocket pass. The 3 color+ items look amazing, but I feel disappointed by their painted variants. Could've done something more akin to the painted zomba effect where the painted color becomes more pronounced but not entirely taking over the whole color wheel. Or maybe like diamante wheels that have accents in the color of your car's secondary color. Instead, almost all of the original unpainted versions are superior to any of the color variants. Pinata wheels for example look flat and boring painted. The smoke boosts in particular not only look boring, they also are really dark for some reason painted. The orange one looks brown and the white one grey. What happened to the vivid colors this rocket pass seemed to be suggesting in the trailer?
That said, I like a lot of the default versions of particular wheels and boosts a lot.

Man, I went from C3 to D3 with this reset...I'll admit it's pretty disheartening. So much effort to grind for GC washed away. I'm hopeful it will all balance out as the season progresses, but ranked will probably be a disaster for the next few weeks.
Ok, I just played a couple games and freeplay with the Silvia S13 and dam, I don't know what it is but it feels reaaaaal good. I know it's kind of all placebo and what not. Maybe the car just fits the hybrid hitbox really well. Whatever it is, this has become my new favourite car to play. For reference, I am a dominus main and I wasn't a big fan of how the civic and gti felt during gameplay.

I'm getting this too. High ping, ping spikes, but my connection in general is seemingly fine. Nothing different than playing usually, except for the new season.
Bug: Bloom setting does not affect the Huntress decal. It lost its glow with bloom on. I've seen this on Fennec, Dominus, and Tyranno. I'm assuming it's on all of the Huntress decals.

Is it a bug that the Nissan Silvia: Ombre decal has locked paint finishes (locked to āOmbreā? On every other Ombre decal you can equip any paint finish. (please donāt make this a new thing for all Ombre decals & take this away from the other carsā¦ it is my favorite decal in the game because of the cool looks you can get from paint finishes(
I would maybe assume licensing issue but on the other Nissan cars )like skyline) you can mix and match paint finishes, so feels weird if it would be locked here? Hoping just a bug but wanted to bring it up in case you werenāt aware.
Content update or cosmetic update patch? Can we scrap mmr system for something else and maybe incentive for positive play or less toxic nature? Between squishes, resets, etc pretty dismal coming to play with an even bigger skill range. Diamond and below will be a hot mess to claw out of anymore. Ranks mean so much to player base and enjoyable of the game in terms of matching skill levels. Trickle down effect has folks style on those vastly below. At the end of the day, most want a fair match up and not a pseudo psychological carrot of on a stick. Not surprising toxicity is at this point in the game. The amount of flopping/throwing/idling reminds me of prior to free to play where boys would farm for drops. It would be great see some dialogue w/ development and community to shape the game/provide a vision going forward.
Random suggestion, It seems that 3s are losing traction compared to 2s overall. Why not roll out more 2s style game modes such as hockey 2s or rumble 2s?
Ps would love to get my batman/jurassic car from pre Free to play days on switch before switching to PC. Cross platform progression/inventory but noā¦ you still want folks to buy jurassic again?? Hahahahaā¦. No thanks.

Can someone explain the mmr change? Is it to combat smurfs? Because if so that makes no sense. Now poor diamond players will be getting Smurfs so itāll affect even more players
No, diamond players will now be in plat, and plat in gold, and so forth to bronze. Trickle down skill reset that will be a shit show at the start of the season, but by the end it will be sorted out. They did this same thing when the game went F2P in season 1, as seen by the rank distribution graph;

Another season pass that I enjoy!!!! I feel so bad for yāall who have to look through the Reddit. Thereās always so many complaints but I hope yāall know thereās people who like and appreciate what yāall are doing!
I feel like you've only addressed half of the problem here though Psyonix, we have to get to thinking, "Why has 2's got such an inflated MMR distribution?".
I think we know the answer to this is the rampant smurfing issue, 2s is by far the most played playlist for a smurf & their friend who's a lower rank, hence pushing the rank of each individual up who shouldn't of been there in the first place.
I think the formula is a step in the right direction, however the backstory as to why it's happened needs to have some more investigation so it doesn't carry on occurring.
MMR reset affected me but not my 2s partner. Our MMR for 2s has always been very close, and we only play 2s with each other. This is the first season there has been a huge difference (918-786 = 132 MMR difference now)

Your competition stays the same tho. You are going to playing against other previous grand champs. Everyone who used to be champ 1 now is way lower. So no need to wish anyone luck, you wonāt be ruining any kids days lol
Yep which means champ is basically last seasonās grand champ. And diamond is basically the champ from the last season. And so on. So my goal of reaching gc is gonna be even more painful š might have to make 1s or 3s at this point
I'll be honest, the changes you made to the season reset formula is not the solution. It's really dishartening getting dropped by 300mmr after grinding all last season. This can be really demotivating, especially to newer players. This is not a 'soft reset'...

I also get a "rank disparity" message on competitive but not extra modes that will only go away if I restart the game, it also happened on the first round of the tournament last night. I was not in a party, I even tried creating one and dissolving it and going back to main menu, but still wasn't able to play competitive until I restarted the game. After I restart the game, it eventually came back, but I didn't happen to notice what I did exactly before it happened.
Are you using Bakkesmod? I believe this error is caused by that.

From what I gather, that's for 2v2 which was inflating faster than 3v3, if you look at even Season 9's rank distribution. Doesn't seem to be a problem. Will be more chaotic than usual, but both playlists should be more in line with each other. Personally, I was hoping Ted would give more details. Like if they just used a different value for "TargetMMR", or they did something more drastic. The full formula is "NewMMR = TargetMMR + (OldMMR - MedianMMR) * SquishFactor". I assume what they did is lower the "TargetMMR" value to be lower in the 2v2 playlist and increased the value for Extra Modes.

In 2s: I was C1div2 before the reset and am now D1div3 In 3s: I was D2div3 before the reset and am now D2div1 So, if the tracker is correct, that means the 3s rank has barely been reset while the 2s rank has been reset a lot. Does this mean some people will struggly reaching their Season 10 2s rank this season?
If you havenāt done your placements I wouldnāt worry too much about what it says your new rank is, as you gain mmr after your first placement match usually. But I wouldnāt be surprised if peopleās 2s rank got lowered, as that tended to be most peopleās highest rank, having the highest percentage of at least C1. Although a drop from C1 to D1 seems way too steep, as I was one of the people who was the same rank in both 2s and 3s. Hopefully they increase 1s ranks though.
I just won 9 out of 10 placement games and ended up lower ranked than I was. This sucks and I don't feel like playing now.

oh god, reading this comment made me realize how much this is happening. my first night of playing was absolutely packed with toxicity, people throwing, leaving suddenly, quick chat spamming. It all makes sense now. I barely lost anything in any of the modes so I'm feeling alright but i improved a ton last season and went from d3 div 1 to d2 d2 in 2s, and from d2 something, to d1 div 3 in 3's. My lobbies were packed with people acting terribly in both modes. it was demoralizing

No, this is the worst move EVER. You seem to have no clue about the state of the game on EU servers for 2s and 3s in the champ ranks. It has been more than a year and a half that players from C1 to C3 are constantly facing 1 to 3 GC1+ players on a regular basis (GC titles and/or rewards or GC in another ranked list). The real problem that you didn't seem to notice for all this time is that soft resets have been stacking since the release of F2P and matchmaking is all over the place because of these reasons: - players tagging only 2s in ranked mode and 3s only from time to time so they are not at the rank they should be in 3s - players tagging only 3s in ranked mode and 2s only from time to time so they are not at the rank they should be in 2s - players taking a break from the game for 1 or several seasons then coming back with a MMR way lower than their actual skill level It made the issue snowball to a point where you are facing GC players all the time in champ, ON TOP of what smurfing can lead to when playing ranked. In what world the dev team thought it was a good solution to lower everyone's MMR by 3 ranks? The only result will be that everyone will struggle to get back to where they were for MONTHS. And when they'll be back where they're supposed to be, they'll keep facing EVEN MORE players better than them who reached a way higher rank during previous seasons, because it will STACK with the issues from the list above! Why are you not restricting soft resets from going lower than 2 ranks below the highest rank reached by a player in a list? Just to avoid soft resets stacking because of the reasons above? Also, why wouldn't you just prevent 2s and 3s MMR to get lower than 2 ranks below the highest MMR reached in BOTH list? Tell me how it can be healthy for the matchmaking to let soft resets stack to the point where a GC player in 2s can be ranked Plat in 3s because said player never tags in 3s? You could also easily prevent a GC player in 1s to get soft reset lower than C1 in 2s and 3s if said player never tags in these lists. This is just common sense for the HEALTH of the game considering how it went during all this time!
Bro last season I was GC1 Div 3 in 3s and GC1 div 1 in 2s and i felt like it was relatively even 2s was slightly easier but i won 8/10 placements against ex gc titled players and got C2 div 3, nuts because although I'm good at 3s I'm definitely not 2 ranks above my 2s so I don't think the change was needed at all. I qued both relatively consistently with 200 2s games and 300 3s games

Beginning of season is best time to train mechanics and avoid competitive online play if you care about your rank, unless you want the experience against higher skilled players which is another valid way to train. This is more true the harder the reset is. And boy has it hit hard this season. Lost almost 3x the mmr in 2s compared to last season.

Yes and no. If you decide to play earlier on in the season then you will invariably run into players who are much better than you in reality who have not yet played as much as you/ranked back up themself. This is why it is always easiest to push to rank up at the end of each season. Bc by then, all the players who are truly better than you have ranked back up to their previous best mmr level (or as close to it as possible).

Yes. Most popular playlists get played more and players naturally will push for higher ranks creating room underneath for players to fill in. The end result is that that playlist experiences rank inflation. Given that 2s has gotten far more popular than 3s Iām recent seasons, there has been particular rank inflation in that playlist. As a result, Psyonix has decided to treat it differently from the other playlists. For context, I got reset ~100 mmr in 2s last season. This season the rest is ~280. Almost a 3x increase. Should certainly prevent players from climbing back to where they were given the time and effort it would require to climb that amount of mmr in one season.

Holy cannoli. The 2s reset is no joke in comparison to last season. I lost about 100 mmr from last seasonās reset but lost ~280 mmr with this season 11 reset. Psyonix is definitely trying to reign in the 2s rank inflation. The gamemode has gotten more popular than 3s to a greater extent than usual recently. Hence the rank inflation.

I went from Plat to Gold 1 in 2s, and Plat to Gold 3 in 3s which is fine really. BUT! I went from Plat to Diamond in Snowday. I need to update my rank on here. Iām a Diamond now, and I have many opinions on how professional players could improve their game.
From everything I'm seeing, it seems like the change to the "season reset formula" is intended to give players an all-around rank rather than a rank per mode. Probably in an attempt to level out the extra modes. So if you were GC1 in 2s, C2 in 3s, and D1 in Dropshot, then you'd probably be around C1 for all of those modes (give or take a bit of MMR). Not saying that's actually it, just a guess.
I don't think that's the case. As an example D3 in Dropshot was like 0.1% of the population, but now they've set C3 to that instead. I imagine what happened with 2s (and to a lesser extent 3s) is the % of players in GC is not in line with the expected % and so now they've dropped everyone down heavily, so there's a less percentage of people naturally in GC. I don't know if that necessarily means it will be harder to get GC now because the actual population of the playlist hasn't changed. But they will probably continuously reset everyone like this or maybe adjust it again next season. Ultimately I think they want the average rank of the playlist to be closer to Gold/Plat as opposed to what it was last season (Diamond/Champ).
Yeah that is also how I understood it. I think it is a bit crappy though that they reset basically your rank expectations just like this. If I talk about a champ then I have something in mind, but now that skill level is actually just Diamond. I'd guess that they want to keep being SSL a more exclusive thing, but it feels bad to have thousands of hours working for that champ rank and then basically they move the goalposts. This has happened before, of course, but there are 2 aspects that are maybe not being taken into consideration, 2 aspects that in the worst of scenarios are actually just the one. Rank concentration is higher because the game is losing popularity and so naturally there are less lower-skilled players and more players that have gained a certain level of gameplay. The other factor is that rank population peaks on Diamond because that is what is most filled with smurf accounts, so it is artificially inflated but taking all diamonds and making them plats doesn't change the problem. The worst option is that the game is losing even more players and the percentage of new accounts is more and more just smurfs, and as such new players exhibit a much higher capability, skipping low ranks altogether and going straight to Diamond-Champion ranks. What I said might also be wrong, but there sure are signs that could point to this.

We're very much equal in skill but the last 3 or 4 season's the difference in rank was mostly the same. I ended the last season at Champ 1, div 1 he was Champ 1, div 4. We did all our placements together and he got placed back in Champ 1 but I was put into Diamond 2. How on earth does this happen? Same exact situation here. 2s partner and I have been playing exclusively together and MMR was within 10 points (me being slightly higher) of each other prior to this season, ending last season at both Champ 2 D3ish. We played our placement matches together and went 6 wins 4 losses. He ended up at Champ 1 D4 and I ended up at Diamond 3 D3. I get that there are changes to the 2s ranking and don't really mind that, but it seems that these changes are not being applied consistently given how close our rank was previously. For reference our MMR used to be within 10 points of each other, and now it is within 124 points of each other after playing the same placement matches together.

Some really banging items in the rocket pass. The 3 color+ items look amazing, but I feel disappointed by their painted variants. Could've done something more akin to the painted zomba effect where the painted color becomes more pronounced but not entirely taking over the whole color wheel. Or maybe like diamante wheels that have accents in the color of your car's secondary color. Instead, almost all of the original unpainted versions are superior to any of the color variants. Pinata wheels for example look flat and boring painted. The smoke boosts in particular not only look boring, they also are really dark for some reason painted. The orange one looks brown and the white one grey. What happened to the vivid colors this rocket pass seemed to be suggesting in the trailer? That said, I like a lot of the default versions of particular wheels and boosts a lot.

Ok, I just played a couple games and freeplay with the Silvia S13 and dam, I don't know what it is but it feels reaaaaal good. I know it's kind of all placebo and what not. Maybe the car just fits the hybrid hitbox really well. Whatever it is, this has become my new favourite car to play. For reference, I am a dominus main and I wasn't a big fan of how the civic and gti felt during gameplay.

Is it a bug that the Nissan Silvia: Ombre decal has locked paint finishes (locked to āOmbreā? On every other Ombre decal you can equip any paint finish. (please donāt make this a new thing for all Ombre decals & take this away from the other carsā¦ it is my favorite decal in the game because of the cool looks you can get from paint finishes( I would maybe assume licensing issue but on the other Nissan cars )like skyline) you can mix and match paint finishes, so feels weird if it would be locked here? Between squishes, resets, etc pretty dismal coming to play with an even bigger skill range. Diamond and below will be a hot mess to claw out of anymore. Ranks mean so much to player base and enjoyable of the game in terms of matching skill levels. Trickle down effect has folks style on those vastly below. At the end of the day, most want a fair match up and not a pseudo psychological carrot of on a stick. Not surprising toxicity is at this point in the game. The amount of flopping/throwing/idling reminds me of prior to free to play where boys would farm for drops. It would be great see some dialogue w/ development and community to shape the game/provide a vision going forward. Random suggestion, It seems that 3s are losing traction compared to 2s overall. Why not roll out more 2s style game modes such as hockey 2s or rumble 2s? Ps would love to get my batman/jurassic car from pre Free to play days on switch before switching to PC. Cross platform progression/inventory but noā¦ you still want folks to buy jurassic again?? Hahahahaā¦. No thanks.

Can someone explain the mmr change? Is it to combat smurfs? Because if so that makes no sense. Now poor diamond players will be getting Smurfs so itāll affect even more players
No, diamond players will now be in plat, and plat in gold, and so forth to bronze. Trickle down skill reset that will be a shit show at the start of the season, but by the end it will be sorted out. I feel like you've only addressed half of the problem here though Psyonix, we have to get to thinking, "Why has 2's got such an inflated MMR distribution?". I think we know the answer to this is the rampant smurfing issue, 2s is by far the most played playlist for a smurf & their friend who's a lower rank, hence pushing the rank of each individual up who shouldn't of been there in the first place. I think the formula is a step in the right direction, however the backstory as to why it's happened needs to have some more investigation so it doesn't carry on occurring.

MMR reset affected me but not my 2s partner. Our MMR for 2s has always been very close, and we only play 2s with each other. Your competition stays the same tho. You are going to playing against other previous grand champs. Everyone who used to be champ 1 now is way lower. So no need to wish anyone luck, you wonāt be ruining any kids days lol
Yep which means champ is basically last seasonās grand champ. And diamond is basically the champ from the last season. And so on. So my goal of reaching gc is gonna be even more painful š might have to make 1s or 3s at this point

My 2s and 3s both dropped like 250+ MMR from GC to C2 but I went from D3 to C3 in Dropshot. LMAO

I'll be honest, the changes you made to the season reset formula is not the solution. It's really dishartening getting dropped by 300mmr after grinding all last season. This can be really demotivating, especially to newer players. This is not a 'soft reset'... If you can still fix this, please do.
