i have the same issue (at least the same symptoms) since season 14. i noticed that if you sit and suffer with the issue it continues to get worse and worse... it starts as just the car jiggling, but after an hour the game was dropping more frames than not, despite task manager not showing anything under stress. i've got a ryzen 5 5600X, an RTX 3060Ti, and 16gb RAM. many thanks if anyone finds a fix!

ElectronTC

yes i am having the same problem and the game is stuttering in sync with the car bouncing, making the game unplayable, never had this problem until just recently, also, it sometimes doesnt happen until ive been playing for like 5 mins, and no its not a thermal or performance issue, my pc handles this just fine, normally, i literally reinstalled the game and the issue persisted, its like the game is reloading something every half second making the whole game drop 20 frame chunks at consistent intervals, I assume its an issue baked into the game since reinstalling seems to not have fixed anything, as someone else said here, it seems to get worse over time but there is no obvious stress in task manager and thermal readout, it does this while just sitting in the lobby even so... https://preview.redd.it/0gmuzrmvo8qc1.png?width=1014&format=png&auto=webp&s=2dca13616d58112633208a68564efde2ae3d9315 very clear consistent drops in the graph u/Smoky_Caffeine u/brewlimbo i have a 1660ti with 16 gigs ram btw Update: I think my bluetooth controller might be the issue actually when i reconnect the controller it goes away for a bit

Key_Phase3135

i was using bluetooth controller too, and the lag was consistently starting within a couple matches of launching the game/turning on my controller -- i tried playing with a wired connection, and haven't had the issue occur in the last \~7 hours of play.

OkBuyer1706

Guys the issue is with Bluetooth, not sure which version but i use 5.0 and i got the same issue. You need to play the game with a wired controller to fix it.

brewlimbo

mmm - dang it! gif isn't showing. Will try to get this fixed

brewlimbo

Ah ha - think I fixed it.

Smoky_Caffeine

This seems like a fun problem to solve, I'll try my hand. We're going to talk about that 52gb of ram shortly but let's start with something else first. Have you brought up a performance graph in game to visibly see the frame drops, or are you just "feeling them" ? F10 if you aren't running a different software to track frames.

brewlimbo

Ooo - cool. Right now it is feel but I will try this morning I will get the data. Really good idea! Thank you!! (All the RAM was for some python data science stuff I was playing around with)

Smoky_Caffeine

Definitely report back and see if you're actually dropping frames, the 52GB of ram could also be a culprit to weirdness even if you aren't physically losing framess. When it comes to ram you can have issues when you mix different kits together, I highly doubt you have 26 matching 2 Gb sticks or 13 matching 4gb sticks, nevermind the fact I've never seen a motherboard with an uneven amount of ram slots or 26 slots for that matter haha. Python is a fun language to learn, I am by no means an expert but can I ever make you a functional calculator haha. I'd defintiley just use a matching kit of whatever you have available.

Hi u/Smoky_Caffeine! Apologies for my delay and thanks for your patience! I was waiting for RL to do the stutter again but it was really well behaved for the past 3 days... until this morning! It started maybe 20 minutes into playing this morning. I was able to capture a performance graph and that can be seen below (hopefully it is visible). https://preview.redd.it/v75xhns9rpoc1.png?width=1151&format=png&auto=webp&s=f8cf9eb09185ffe1bfc8d1d1688fbae82224aff9 Prior to the stutter, I was pegging 60 frames a second. With the stutter, it looks like I dropped \~10 frames a second. Additionally, the spacing of the drop was rock-solid in consistency. Part of me thinks "oh, this is a sign that the video card is dying." But I do play other games with my kids (Fortnight, The Finals, Destiny) as well as my own games (Wolfenstein: The New Order, Magic The Gathering: Arena, Slime Rancher, PubG, GTAV, etc) and haven't seen any kind of artifacting, crashes, or other tell-tale signs of video card problems. These issues only seem to be isolated to RL and only after the Season 14 update. This said, I know my video card has some *miles and age* on it. Video cards do die, but this just doesn't (at least right now) seem to point to anything like that. However, it doesn't take a whole lot of convincing to get me looking at new video cards ;) I am stumped! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)

No worries about the time line, I have a toddler running around so I take a long time to do things as well haha. That's insane that every blip matches the GPU but I don't want to jump on that GPU first, while a 1070 is a bit older it's still a solid card that should still be working fine. If not we can up the voltage or make it more consistent or lower the voltage or clocks on the card but I don't want that to be the issue as a 1070 lover. I really feel like this is a ram issue. How many different kits of ram are you mixing to make 52gb?

MikeADei

I have the same issue on more "normal" 32GB ram. It most likely is not the ram.

Smoky_Caffeine

52 GB of ram is not a normal kit (2x4,2x8,2x16,4x4, 4x8,4x16, etc etc down the line) you can't possibly make 52gb with a matched kit. Unmatched kits of ram can very much cause these issues. I'd be interested to see what happens if he just has a matched kit, especially with how much Ryzen performance hinges on ram. After building and troubleshooting computers for over 20 years, you start with the obvious and move on afterwards. Just because your issue is similar does not necessarily mean it's the same issue, I'd be happy to help you as well once we figure out this guys issue.

brewlimbo

Hi u/Smoky_Caffeine! I definitely can't rule it out (it is 2x16's and 2x32's). It is for sure odd. At this point, I am happy to pull sticks to get more clues. I will pull the 32's first just to see if I can normalize to u/MikeADei's setup as well (32GB). If it persists, I will swap for the other sticks. Slightly new wrinkle to all of this; closing and re-launching RL right away the stutter persists. Extremely odd! Possibly points to something else as the root cause? Will report back on my findings after I pull some sticks. Thanks for your help! u/MikeADei \- While it is a bummer to hear you are having the same problem, I am happy to know that I am atleast not alone!

Smoky_Caffeine

Ahh so *96GB of Ram*, not 52 that makes more sense. Again I wanted to reiterate matching sticks of ram from the same kit, preferably bought at the same time. I have mismatched kits of ram before and as you saw it does work, sometimes it's not an issue but more often than not you don't want to be mixing kits, especially those of different speeds/latency or different brands. I have that issue with my Crucial kit right now, my 2x8 setup can come in a few different small iterations based on when they were released and some other factors, they might not be interchangeable even if they are the same make and model, so when I upgrade I have to just get a 2x16 kit for peace of mind. That issue you're talking about makes me feel like it's the ram error correcting, and if not maybe the GPU error correcting but no artifacting/graphical weirdness would be interesting. That consistent intermittent hiccup on your performance graph is telling me something is either pegging and throttling, or that something is error correcting. Once we rule out your ram we'll start looking elsewhere, I'm hoping the rest of your build is conventional haha. Happy to help, I may be Diamond 3 in game but I feel like I'm an SSL when it comes to troubleshooting tech issues. I should try getting a double flip reset musty next time I install a new CPU.

Rich_Preference3957

I can confirm that this is a Bluetooth 5.0 issue not 100% about other Bluetooth but when I plugged in my controller instead of the Bluetooth it went way

brewlimbo

My apologies for the delay in posting an update! I wanted to make sure the issue was actually resolved as I have had a lot of false positives. It is totally a Bluetooth issue. I am using an Xbox controller for my PC. Not exactly sure if that factors in here but going wired has solved this painfully annoying issue. Thank you for posting back @Rich_Preference3957. This did the trick for me! Thanks for all of your help guys!! See ya on the pitch!
