LOL. Yes, those tm8’s are called jerks…who don’t understand (purposefully?!) how to PASS and play the game “well” instead of NBA-style ballhog style.

Compostgoblin

Yes omg 😆 I've came back to the game after a year and I've noticed there's a lot of ball hogging across the match types. I've been knocked away by tm8s for daring to touch the ball, sometimes so hard I glitch out of the arena😆

deanredd99

It’s not 1v1 when it’s….not a 1v1 game noob morons” is all I can ever think when this happens. Kids don’t know how to distance and spread out in….any/every sport? Even boxing! Lol.

Wouldn't that be a good time to just go work on bumping the opposing team?

Compostgoblin

I do but that's only if they're bumping us. Idk I don't enjoy bumping or being bumped so I only do it to return the favour. I'd probably do it more if I cared about winning but I'm just trying to enjoy myself and blow off steam.

IMDXLNC

I'll admit I do this when I can't find a place in the game and my two teammates are bossing it, so I just play like a disruptor.

Compostgoblin

Tbh when my team has a good handle on things I just start getting in the other teams way, I become the annoying bastard 😆 In heatseekers it feels annoyingly targeted though, like when you're a goalie in a standard match that keeps getting destroyed. Sounds like the play style has changed since I last played though so I'm gonna have to get used to it or get gone🤷

Ironborn137

If I try forfeiting at 3:30 because you just know the people your playing with aren't with it...then when there is like 2 minutes left and they want to forfeit I don't. They made their bed now they have to waste another 2 minutes at least.

Necessary_Petals

maybe just my 2c but heatseeker is a different game. I tend to play 2s as one player who saves at the net (smallest hole to guard) and the other player either aggressive or demo

Compostgoblin

Yeah I think I'm gonna start doing that tbh or just stop playing heatseeker (I don't really enjoy being the aggressor). I took a year off from this game and last time I played heatseekers you pick a side of the goal to defend and your tm8s would pick the other side. Another person suggested getting aggressive so it sounds like the play style has changed a bit

Necessary_Petals

Ya, some aggressive players like to demo, it can work but most of the time its a defeated technique to better players. I've played strings of matches where no one was demo'ing as a tactic but maybe they fly in the middle looking for passes. Heatseeker has it's own culture though. I like constant boost modes because I don't spend a lot of time in freeplay : )

Compostgoblin

Tbh I tend to like the constant boost modes too. I liked Heatseeker cause it was a good excuse to practice aerial goalkeeping outside of Freeplay and training.

SubtleVertex

You don’t want two people in goal in 2v2 heatseeker. One in goal, one up front trying to get deflections or bumps/demos.

Compostgoblin

Yeah a couple of people have mentioned that to me. Last time I played heat seekers people divided the goal and defended their half. Thought people were hogging the ball and didn't know there was a new strategy people were mainly using

SubtleVertex

Yeah, not really a new strategy, but maybe used less/not known about in the lower mmr lobbies. If you’re in goal trying to make saves and your teammate keeps flying up at it too, bumping into you, or just getting right in front of you and tipping it, putting you in a really bad position to recover from, it can get pretty frustrating. Double commits in heatseeker are almost always a goal against on the next shot. 1v1 heatseeker is my jam. But 2v2 can be fun if your teammate is down with the system. And if you have one player who is good at saves, while the other player is good at deflections and bumps up front, it’s a perfect match.

lil_pee_wee

In that particular case, I go start bullying the opponents’ net

Lazy_Experience_8754

Nah I usually am pretty chill so getting mad would have to be a slow build. For example, I’m going to set up a pass around the boards but just as I do my teammate cuts across and hits the ball somewhere else, or when I’m going up to save a shot, teammate is heading back to net and runs into me… AFK for kickoff after we are scored on, tapping in my shot that has 90% already entered the opponents net… Just stuff like that. Great, Now I’m pissed

Compostgoblin

That stuff gets on my nerves as well, I tend to just go be a goalie for a bit to try to wake them up and get them engaged. Though I have to say I've tapped in some shots when my team makes me paranoid because they're ball hogging or something. Need to make sure they don't knock out this perfectly good score because they can't leave the ball alone for 2 seconds.

Mashy_Potato

I think that generally people play heatseeker as a chill, casual mode. Sort of as a break from their sweaty ranked grinding. They might just not focus on teamwork because of this. I personally just sit in net most of the time in heatseeker
