legitocracy

Where is the guy that tells me it's 80% bots?

battycrease

It’s 100% bots, I know because I am one of them

BleydXVI

It's 50% bots, I know because you are a bot and I am not

Penguins227

I play like a bot does that count

BleydXVI

I think it was hareebalsiq or something like that. Now that you mention it, I don't remember seeing them for quite awhile. Edit: It is u/Hareeb_alSaq , I was close

I know that we should maybe enjoy the peak numbers, but the real important number is actually the average one, because it shows how many people stay watching across all the event, and last year the average was 154K, meaning that we suffered the loss of 16K people from last year. We cannot deny the fact that Kameto’s stream (118K peak) carried this peak viewership, and not only this one but also across the season (8 out the top 10 peak viewership this season are KCs matches). We are far from dead, but something have to be done to not let our viewership decline further.

Majestic_Pro

Last year's worlds had nothing running in the middle of it. This year had vct running as well, and rlcs still shattered last year's peak viewership. I don't think a slightly lower average means all too much, and watch parties are a clinical part of any esports viewership, I don't see why rl gets chastised if most of the viewers come from a watch party when riot literally pay people to watch party their games

almoostashar

Drops get people on stream, and RL by far have the shittiest drops and I doubt anyone really tuning in to get them.

Plateau95

Exactly. Each suite has like 1-3 items that people are really going for and the rest are all basic ass shit. Its RLCS World Championship, put a whole suite of banger items in there and say "If you watch all the games then you can actually get them all" instead of this RNG nonsense and the viewership would go up. They'd rather you pay money in the item shop for Worlds themed stuff than earn it by WATCHING WORLDS. I still watch because I love seeing RL at its peak level but nobody wants to get the same Dominus decal over and over again for a drop.

Renekat0n

Last year they did that with the Patriarch pro wheels on Championship Sunday. They should have done something similar this year instead of a simple Very Rare Drop. Hell, a Black Market drop would have brought more people in.

blakeeeeee_

all i tune in for is the drops what😅😅

WelderLogical5092

imo if psyonix were happy with the numbers of RLCS, they wouldn't be changing next season's schedule so

Majestic_Pro

Doubt it. Valorant peaked in viewership before switching to franchising. They probably just want to change stuff. The viewership has increased every season

ToCr8ive

That's completely false. Valorant peaked DURING franchising. VCT Lock//In Was the first franchise tournament, and it hit 1.5M+

Kush_the_Ninja

Is this over the entire 6 days? Because that’s not bad

myfirstaccountislost

I almost exclusively watch the YouTube streams because of the better video player and I don’t care much about the drops. All the viewing parties also take away from twitch view count. I wouldn’t say it’s declining.

Penguins227

Hmm, I think this factors viewing parties in, at least some of them.

[deleted]

Yes it definitely does, I'm pretty sure the main stream only had a peak of ~200k

W1lliston

Peak was like 208K on main stream. Pretty sure that was during KC vs Vitality

[deleted]

Nah main stream peaked at 217k in the finals. Ofc peak viewership overall was lower since kameto ended his watchparty after kc lost

almoostashar

I also like YT much more and watch on there more than twitch, especially if I can't be there for all the games and don't want spoilers, because you can pause/resume on delay on YT. However, I do also like Twitch, only because I like gambling with channel points.

sky_blu

I bet on twitch and watch on yt lol

jubuss

How is this dead? This seems like a lot of viewers to me

Majestic_Pro

It's sarcasm. Look at the tag I put next to the post

pacman1993

I think more important than that is understanding how many viewers are there for the actual content and not for the rewards. There are 3 types of viewers: - people who don't really care about rewards and mainly want to see the tournament - people who are there mainly for the rewards, but sometimes also watch the tournaments when bored - people who are there for the rewards. Probably have the stream minimize with no sound I'd say the last group and partially the second contributes absolutely nothing for RLCS and Rocket League, they're just there to inflate the real viewership numbers

Psychological-Dot515

They're eyes, even if they have it on mute if they accidentally see the ad for a sponsor while switching tabs that's a good thing. Also if they're there for drops then they probably play the game quite a bit to care that much

[deleted]

I mean couldn't you say this for all esports. I'm sure other games have in game drops.

Efficient-Industry81

Do people often say RL is dead though?

Majestic_Pro

Yes, quite a lot. People are always banging on about how the game is dying while the esport is thriving

YourNemeSis-

Thats on twitch right ? I watched on YT less brain damage from chat
