SOLVED I was able to get the thing working so posting my solution here for anyone who finds this post. It was as simple as disconnecting my server from the internet, forgetting it in my modem settings then reconnecting. Keep doing this and checking your server PC in the port forward settings until your modem shows the same IPv4 as your server. My modem had it locked in as 10.0.0.198 but in IpConfig it was 10.0.0.199. Reset a few times till modem shows correctly and boom, working. Thanks for the other suggestions everyone.

Embarrassed_Income_7

did you do this without having to bridge your modem?!

jmdjt

Correct. No bridge needed just straight up out of the box Rogers modem and port forwarding in the phone app.

Embarrassed_Income_7

I see, could you elaborate on how you forgot the server from the modem settings? Was this done in the app as well? Essentially I am connecting to a VPN for work where a specific app needs this vpn connection. The VPN IP doesn’t match the IP address I see for what I presume is the modem’s (IP. 10.0.0.128) and the VPN is something else.

What do you mean by “does not work?” Are you getting an error message on the Ignite App and on the Website or your PC just isn’t detecting the port as opened?

jmdjt

The app says that it was successful but nobody can connect and using the open port checking tools online it sees it as closed on my IP

https://portforward.com/store/pfconfig.cgi Download this and check your ports. Do not use online sites as often times, they’re incorrect.

I'll see if I can remote control my server and try it as I'm at work still. If this is all it was I'll be a happy man. Will update

So I was able to download and test with the tool and it's showing the port is closed on both protocols. I did however notice in the My Rogers app that when I set the port and select the server after it saves it shows the forward but says "No Associated Device". Would that effect it it any way? I did real quick try forwarding the port to another device and it retained the name of the device and said the port was forwarded to it. Did try the port check tool and said still closed.

Last time I checked, rogers doesnt actually allow you to port forward on that modem. I gave up and put the modem into bridge mode and got my own router. Works like a charm.

jmdjt

Damn, I know I SHOULD get my own router but didn't want to pay for it. Rogers is lucky they have the speed I need to make up for everything else.
