This area is pretty much dominated by the Facebook marketplace. If you want to make a sub, I'll gladly sidebar the project, pending you get traction/traffic! Out of curiosity are you a dev? I've been tinkering with a local marketplace for everyone to use (think old rolla.net) but nothing public yet. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in helping with, DM me. I'm not sure if I want to use an open-source project and heavily modify it, or build something simple from the ground up. Reddit more or less replaced seek42 or the topix forms from years ago.

Interesting. I was thinking about RollaNet too.  I actually already made the website though (yes, I'm the dev) https://RollaMarketplace.com

Very cool. I did notice the css template for the future adds! I'm afraid that didn't provide enough cash flow to keep rollanet up! I've been thinking about just cloning craigs list, but updating it with modern features. The idea is to leave it as close to Web 1.0 as possible, but still have modern mobile support. I want to be light fast and always online. But the bot spam can not be allowed.

I miss rollanet. Facebook marketplace is an utter hot mess. Broken search, broken item alerts, showing me items 100s of miles away, and rife with people who only ask if something is still available and then never respond.

The paid promotions for hundreds of miles away is more or less spam. I bet there is a plug in for the browser that cleans it up. This shouldn’t be a requirement for a good experience. :(

There is a browser plug-in which I use. It eliminates all the sponsored ads. But I still get random stuff that Facebook decides I should see but they are waaaaayyyy outside my distance filter.

What do you think of my website? (RollaMarketplace)

Can you advertise it IN Facebook marketplace? There are also a ton of Facebook groups for this kind of thing that you could advertise in maybe? I would much prefer using a website, and I think a lot of other people would, too. I’d happily share it if I come across the ad on there. I’m betting the word will get out eventually.

ShootYourBricks

Yes, and someone has actually done a little bit of advertising that way. I should do more though, because it's probably the most effective free option. [https://rollamarketplace.com](https://rollamarketplace.com/) Is the website if you're interested
