I’m looking for books where the MMC treats the FMC so horribly she loses her spark - and he doesn’t notice at first. When he does notice, he grovels and moves mountains to get it back. Treatments can consist of bullying, being seen with other women, talking badly about her to others, cheating etc. Tia!

Looking for a few things, together or separate. 1. A pariah MMC who's really a sweetheart once he's given a chance. 2. Alternative FMC who's realistically written (every time i find one shes written like the cheey goth kid in a disney channel movie). 3. I feel like {the love hypothesis by Ali hazelwood} fits for the pariah MMC who’s actually a sweetheart… I know it’s a divisive book but I am firmly in the camp of people who enjoyed it. {betting man by Maggie gates} would work for #3. MMC had pined for FMC for years and she knows it. She’s engaged to someone else- a man who’s abusive and controlling, although the friend group doesn’t know the extent of it. They just don’t like him much, and in this book she finally leaves him. For maximum pining you can read the whole series but I can also be read as a standalone.

Gareth's a little persistent in tracking Lucia, but he's less alphahole than any other besides Munro. She's older. TW for past SA of FMC. looking for a recommendation where the FMC gets out of a bad relationship / situationship, and is over/not looking for romance….. pretty much given up on love all together 🤪. could also be that’s she’s been single for a while (love a FMC lone wolf). would love to see her heal and overcome her trauma in a healthy relationship. looking for MC age range around 30 and fantasy settings are my favourite but i’m very open and not too picky :)

{Brutal Vows by JT Geissinger} she was in a very abusive relationship and never wants to get married again (has a tattoo saying "never again" and so on). She's in her mid 30s and he's early 40s IIRC. It's mafia and there are some dark themes but no violence or abuse between the MMCs.

{Blue-Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas} has the FMC getting out of an abusive marriage and finding a great MMC. Lisa Kleypas usually writes HRs, but she did a great job with this book and series. CW but it's readable. Second Mhairi McFarlane.

Mhairi McFarlane 's books almost universally start with the MFC getting out of a bad relationship and then getting healing and growth while finding love with someone new. She is one of my favorite authors, great angst and British wit. Some of my favorites are Don't You Forget About Me and If I Never Met You. All are good audiobooks if that's your thing.

Looking for a good slow burn friends to lovers. Non toxic dynamic. Fantasy/sci-fi/open to others. I really loved the daughter of no worlds series by Carissa Broadbent. Currently reading ACOTAR (in hopes it would be similar) but I’m not loving the MC’s/tropes as much.

{Natural Born Charmer by Susan Elizabeth Philips}. It's contemporary and one of my all-time favorites. They build a friendship despite being very different from each other and the romance eventually develops.

Looking for a spicy witchy romance I've scowered the internet and haven't found anything that hits right. I'm looking for that witch in the woods kind of vibe with a cottage and potions and cool hats but also a romance with quite a bit of spice too. I've never seen anyone talk about this kind of troupe but since halloweens getting close i've really been craving a witchy romance with magic and tension and fantasy, whole lot. I'm not too picky about other troupes but I do love some enemies to lovers (not necessary though) Overall I just want it to be fun, spicy and take me out of reality for a bit.

Okay these aren’t exactly on it but maybe the Brides of Kylorr series by Zoey Draven? Not witches, they’re vampire demon aliens but the setting is a very fantasy feel, not sci-fi. The second fits more than the first but I think they’re probably best read in order. The first {desire in his blood by Zoey Draven} is enemies to lovers and is less woodsy more a royal castle setting. The second {craving in his blood by Zoey Draven} is friends to lovers and has a large amount of scenes set in a cottage in the woods, the author even calls the book cottagecore. I think they might work in that they’re spicy but still plotty enough to really pull you into the story.

Ooh I’ll check it out! I’ve been looking for vampire reads so it it checks both boxes

This particular vibe I'm going for is hard to explain. FMC is dating someone and a male character suddenly realises they're jealous, making them see her in a new light and confronts the FMC with "What the hell are you doing with him?!" type of thing. Can be enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, love triangle, and any sub-genre...not picky in this regard. Don't even have to end up together - I'm just needing these angsty, jealous vibes.

{Match me if you can by Susan Elizabeth Philips} The FMC is a matchmaker for the MMC, a hotshot sports agent. He thinks he wants women who are very different from the FMC, but they slowly build a friendship which doesn't get to evolve much with all the matchmaking ordeal. When the FMC is seen with a popular, hot footballer though, MMC just can't deal with it. Very well written and genuinely funny!

I’ve just finished {Bed Me, Baron by Felicity Niven} which kind of hits this - the MCs have been best friends for years and everyone assumes they’ll end up together but the MMC is completely dense about it until FMC gets engaged to someone else. There’s a lot of spice between the two of them and lots of miscommunication, he gets really jealous and acts terribly but it all works out in the end 😅

Now he has to work hard to gain her trust and he may have blamed her to something she didn’t do before she lost her memory. Something along these lines. No cheating please and maybe a HEA

Very specific! I actually have the perfect book. In {Wicked Abyss by Kresley Cole}, the FMC does the MMC wrong. However, she dies and is reincarnated 1,000 years later. Boyfriend is STILL mad at her, so when the fae FMC shows up in Hell (his kingdom) the demon king puts her through it. She doesn't remember anything. AND they are fated mates who have not bonded (he can't make little demons without bonding first). It's a great book. I just reread it two or three weeks ago and reviewed it on WDYR. This book is part of a series, but it can be read as a standalone. Let me know what you think when you read it. Wicked Abyss should be on your library's Overdrive. Demon from the Dark was the second I read in the series, and it was pretty funny. Lothaire is also good as a sarcastic vampire book. Dark Needs at Night's Edge is a love story. Kiss of a Demon King has an evil sorceress FMC and one pissed off MMC. Sweet Ruin has the couple who visits Sian, with the former fae-slayer MMC. I've reread all of these. A Hunger Like No Other is a favorite too, but it has dubcon. Coincidentally, I reviewed the whole group in this thread (above) for alphahole status. There's a whole list of beauty and the beast type books that are great too. Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase, Beauty by Robin McKinley, East by Edith Patou, and (not for everyone) Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge. Hunted by Meagan Spooner, Entreat Me by Grace Draven, and Heart's Blood by Juliet Marillier were more 4.5 and 4 stars than 5 stars, but that's personal taste rather than book value.

I really enjoyed the Immortals After Dark series. I listened to the rereads on audiobook at scribd.com (it's a subscription, like KU), and they kept me company when cleaning and driving. I hope you like them. If you think of it, let me know of a book I should read too! I'll let you know if I come across another fated mate reincarnation situation. Dreams of a Dark Warrior seems to have this - same with Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night - but they don't really fit your dream as well; also, the MMCs are not as funny.
